Liam & Reader Oneshot

Chapter Text

(Your pov)

Liam is coming over tonight, for our annual best friends movie night and sleepover. I put on my plain grey sweater, and a pair of patterned leggings. I threw my hair up into a bun. I slid on the kitchen tiles in my socks. I put popcorn in a bowl and got a bowl of m&ms ready.

Liam knocked on the door. I slid to the door on my socks, and opened it. “Li, you don’t have to knock. You know where I keep the spare key.“ I smiled as he stepped inside with a few bags of candy, and some cans of soda. “Okay, I’m just going to grab the popcorn and m&ms.” I told him as he went to the living room.

Tonight was when I was finally going to tell him how I feel, well if I don’t chicken out. “Whose turn is it to pick the movies?“ “It’s your turn.” I called out. I took a deep breathe, and brought the bowls out. “What movie did you pick?“ “First up is Toy Story.” “Goodie.“ I smiled and popped a few m&ms in my mouth.

We quoted the whole movie together. Liam stood up to change the DVD. “Alright, next up is—” “Liam, wait. I need to tell you something.“ I quickly cut him off. “Okay, go for it. I’m all ears.” He smiled and sat back down. He probably knows this is big. I always call him Li, unless there is something big. I fiddled with the sleeves of my sweater.

“First, I want you to promise that no matter what I say we’ll still be best friends forever?” “Always. But I hope it’s a good thing and not a bad thing.“ “Me too.” I breathe out, and run my fingers through my hair. “What is it?“ Liam asks, with that stupid yet adorable puppy-like pout on his face. I sigh, it’s now or never. If I don’t say now, if I don’t get it off my chest now, I’ll regret it. I know I will.

"Liam, I think I’m falling for you.” I said quickly. Liam opened his mouth to speak. “No, hear me out and then you can say whatever you want.“ I told him. Liam shut his mouth and just studied me with his eyes. “You know me better than anyone, I tell you everything. You know that I’m not really good at admitting to this type of thing.” I pause to watch his face. Nothing.

“I hate confrontation. I hate it, you know that. But I-I need you to know, that I’m falling for you. I’m sorry, if this makes everything awkward. And I swear if you don’t like me that way, then we can go back to just best friends. But I need you to not shut me out. Please. I know this is probably really stupid, but don’t stop being my friend okay?” I said quickly. I breathed out, relieved that I got that off my chest. Liam just stared at me.

“I’m sorry, Li. I shouldn’t have said anything. We can be just friends. Okay?” I spit out, trying not to sound disappointed. Liam just continues staring at me. I stand up from the couch. “I’ll just….I’m just going to get a glass of water.“ I sigh.

Liam grabs a hold of my wrist and pulls me down onto the couch. He doesn’t release my wrist as he presses his lips against mine. I instantly froze. Then I realized what was happening and started to slowly kiss back. Liam pulled away.

"I want to be there to catch you. I wanted to say it first, but I love you too.” Liam smiled. I just stared at him. “Say something.“ He told me. “Really?” I asked. “Yeah. I wouldn’t lie to you. You’re my best friend.“ He told me, and I smiled. Liam leaned in again, but this time slowly. His eyes flickered between my eyes and lips.

I leaned in the rest of the way and pressed our lips together. Liam’s hands went to my waist and pulled me closer. My hands went to the back of Liam’s neck. Liam pulled away again, but pressed his forehead against my forehead. “Be mine?” He asked. “Absolutely.“ I smiled, and we pressed our lips together again.
