Chapter Text
Inko was overjoyed at the sight of him. The little baby with black hair and green eyes looked to be just the perfect mix of her and her husband. The freckles were the only thing that didn’t fit. Neither herself nor her husband had them. Perhaps a recessive trait. It didn’t matter though. She was absolutely infatuated with the baby who slept soundlessly, all swaddled up as she took him into her arms.
“Oh, darling boy...mommy will take good care of you. Hopefully, you are exactly what I need to bring your daddy home from America.” She placed a kiss on his forehead, smiling as she made her way to the door. “We’ll go home, and we’ll all be just fine, isn’t that right Izuku?” She made her way down the hall, passing by nurses and waving to them as she went. The little bundle was tucked so close to her chest. She made her way down the stairs and out the hospital doors, waving goodbye to the staff at the front desk. She smiled as she looked out on the busy city.
Inko arrived home in record time, taking her shoes off by the door and sitting down on the couch with the new addition to the family. She smiled, pulling her phone out of her pocket and choosing her husband’s contact. The phone rang a few times before he answered. “What is it? I have a business meeting in twenty minutes.”
She giggled softly in reply. “I’ll make this quick then. How would you feel about coming home as soon as you can? I would appreciate knowing our son had a responsible father figure in his life.”
“Son? You can’t be pregnant, it’s been nearly nine months since I was last there.”
“Surprise! I didn’t even know until yesterday…one minute I was fine and the next, I was in the hospital and they were handing him to me. He has your hair, possibly your nose too…So when do you think you’ll be back?” There was a groan and a few moments of silence before her husband spoke.
“I’ll get a flight for tonight.”
“Great, we’ll see you then. I’ll make sure to have a meal ready for you. I love you, darling.”
“I love you too.” The call ended abruptly and Inko smiled as she put her phone down.
“As much as I hate lying to him, I have to do what I have to do…even if that means going to the extremes.” She looked at the baby in her arms, his eyes now open and staring up at her. “I’m so glad you came into this world Izuku. You’ll be a lot happier with me than you would have been with your real parents .”
“How in the world do you lose a baby! Your job is to monitor the nursery! All you have to do is keep track of them which isn’t hard!” The nurse shook under her supervisor’s wrath. She knew she was at fault, he was right in the fact that it was a simple task. She had stepped away for a minute to resolve a problem and by the time she had returned, one of the little ones under her care was missing. Her first assumption had been a fellow nurse having retrieved the newborn to take him to his parents, but asking around had revealed that no one had been in the nursery. To add insult to injury, the cameras had been down for maintenance so there were no recordings of the incident.
The floor manager stepped forward, putting a hand on her supervisor’s shoulder. “Yelling is not going to solve this problem…we need to inform the authorities and the parents about the kidnapping. I’ll do that personally and will not allow anyone to get thrown under the bus. For now, please keep things quiet so we don’t stress any other parents out. No one is allowed to move the babies unless approved by either of us, got it?” The nurse nodded meekly, knowing she would still get in trouble for this incident. The floor manager sighed and adjusted her name tag. “I’m going to speak with the parents. Please contact the proper authorities while I do so and tell them I will meet with them shortly.” She left and made her way to the family’s room.
The door was cracked open slightly, allowing her to get the chance to peek inside at the parents. The two men were conversing between themselves, the blond chuckling softly at something the black-haired man had said. She knew plenty about the two of them, they were, in a way, her patients after all. She knew the two were pro-heroes, one more well-known than the other. She also knew that their method of becoming parents wasn’t one widely accepted by society. Over time, as quirks started popping up more, a few people were given quirks with the ability to create life. She knew the two had chosen this option, allowing their DNA to be used to create their own biological child. The same child that had gone missing not too long ago. She took a deep breath and knocked before entering the room.
Both men turned to her, probably expecting her to bring them their son. She tried to muster up a smile but she knew that it was a grim one. “Hello to the both of you. I’m afraid I have bad news.”
“Is it Izuku? Is he alright?” She bit her lip as the blond asked her questions. She really hated this part of her job.
“I’m so sorry, but Izuku has gone missing. Our nursery staff went in to do their hourly rounds and he was gone. We’re unsure of what happened since our cameras were down for maintenance. We are extremely sorry and are contacting the authorities so we can safely return him to you as soon as possible. If there is anything we can do for you, please let us know. We will inform you if we find anything. Once again, I am so sorry. This is never something a parent should have to hear.” Both of them stared at her, a mix of emotions on their faces before turning to one another. They both looked absolutely distraught, but the one she knew as Shouta looked a tad angry, as if he couldn’t believe that someone had the audacity to take his son.
She had seen them earlier that morning together. Shouta was holding the newborn and smiling one of the most loving smiles she had ever seen. Hizashi, his husband, stood next to him, watching his husband and son in bliss. They were a cute family, two dads that were absolutely enamored by their son who was barely a day old. She felt horrible for letting them get torn apart in this way. “If you have any questions, please do not be afraid to ask. The authorities will be here soon and we will speak with them. We will find your son.” She quietly stepped out, slowly closing the door behind herself. She allowed herself to wait for a moment. The silence from the room was quickly broken by quiet sobs and whispers. She frowned before stepping away to give them space.
