Work Text:

The door creaked out loud as Sasha opened it. The sound proved to be especially irritating tonight as she has had… an eventful day, shall we say. The blonde lightly shook her head as she forced herself to forget the stress of today. Right now, she was in her happy place. After all, nothing says happy quite like a dingy one room apartment that hadn’t looked like it changed since before she was born! Sasha closed the door and turned on the one light in the room. The bulb dimly illuminated her enclosure, showcasing a variety of second hand furniture she managed to haggle down to an impressively cheap price. She sighed as she went to quickly grab a beer from the fridge and plopped down on her couch. The hiss of the can as she opened it helped calm her down somewhat, as she knew she would soon enter into some form of inebriation and wake up the next day, albeit hungover. Not that she minded, though.

“Bottoms up,” she murmured to herself right before taking the first sip of her drink. The heavily watered down substance had no flavor to it as she quickly began chugging the can down. Once empty, she crushed it and went for another… and then another, and another. She repeated the now mundane process until she reached a point of tipsiness. At the realization of this she quickly swallowed down another can and decided to leave it at that. No point in getting fully wasted unless it was a really bad day. Sasha went to her phone as she began scrolling through social media. She mindlessly scrolled for 20 minutes before being fed up with that and closed out of it. A minute of indecisiveness went by before Sash hovered her thumb over the phone icon. Should she really? Well, she was admittedly somewhat hot and bothered by the alcohol flowing through her system so... Why not, eh? She tapped the icon as she went through her contact list, scrolling through each name until reaching the one she was looking for. She tapped on the name and waited for the recipient to pick up.

Marcy had spent the last several hours at her desk, working her ass off on the pages for the webcomic she had been neglecting for the past several weeks. She was doing a fine job at said neglection until she realized her self imposed deadline was right around the corner. The artist had made some impressive progress, and thought she could probably finish within the next few days given enough concentration, when she heard her phone ringing. She went over to see who was calling her at 1 AM in the goddamn morning, and had to do a double take. It was her girlfriend, Sasha. The artist wondered why she’d be calling her at this hour and quickly picked up.

“Yo, Sash, what’re you doing up at this hour?” She asked innocently enough, trying to hide any semblance of worry from her voice. Said worry was quickly dissipated as she heard her girlfriend utter the following words in a somewhat raspy tone.

“Mars, tell me what you’re wearing right now.”

Ah, so that explains it, the recipient thought to herself. Sasha probably got herself a bit tipsy and is now making a decision she definitely wouldn’t do sober. Marcy chuckled to herself as she thought about what to say next. She could continue the conversation in a traditional sense, which leads to them having full on phone sex. OR, she could have a little fun and derail the entire conversation. She wasn’t particularly 'in the mood' tonight herself and really needed to finish the comic pages. Although, she did need a break at some point. She decided that now was as opportune time as any to have it.

“Hmm…? Idk… Aurora Borealis.”

“Wha-” she could hear her girlfriend’s flabbergasted breath as she clearly did not expect this sudden, and very unsexy turn of events taking place. Marcy had to stifle a full on laugh as the silence continued for another 10 seconds as the blonde took time to recompose herself and come up with an adequate response to the artist’s banter.

“A-Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, at this part of the country, localized entirely within your bedroom?!”
“Yes!”

“...May I see it?”

Mary couldn’t resist laughing anymore as she broke her stoic facade and laughed heartily into the microphone, her girlfriend quickly joining in with a laugh of her own. Sasha winded down first as she let Marcy get it out of her system and get herself together.

“Sorry snort sorry, I couldn’t help it, Sash. I mean seriously, ‘Tell me what you’re wearing right now’? C’mon, not even a hello first? Gosh, you are such a master of foreplay,” the raven haired woman said in an obviously sarcastic tone.

“Hey! You’re just lucky I played along this time. If you were with me right now I would’ve just shut you up with a kiss… or something,” Sasha sighed and lightly chuckled to herself yet again. “Seriously, though. It’s nice to hear your voice. I had a rough day today and missed you a lot. I should probably work on my foreplay like you said, though. I was so not expecting you to say that.”

“Aww… don’t worry Sash. I'll always be there! You, uh… you wanna talk to me about what happened while I’m on the line? I mean, you don’t have to and stuff, but I’m here for you and shit.” Marcy heard Sasha laughing on the other end again. God, she did love her laugh a lot. Music to her ears.

“Y’know what? I’ll wholeheartedly take you up on the offer. Just don’t overcharge me or whatever, ha.”

“Pffft, as if I could pull one over on a psychologist in training!”

“Heh… Hey, Marcy?”

“Yeah, Sash?”

“I love you.” Marcy felt her heart flutter. They had been dating for ages now, but every time she heard those three words come out of her lover’s mouth she couldn’t help but feel warmth radiating from her chest.

“I love you too, Sashy. …So… Do you wanna talk about what happened today?”

The two discussed the events of Sasha’s day, and then some, through the rest of the night until the sun rose on Marcy’s end.
