Summary
As soon as the buck raised his antler-clad head, Daryl’s finger pulled back on the trigger. He yelped, the force of the arrow whizzing forwards forced him to land on his butt, his feet feeling like they were kicked out from underneath him. But, the arrow had hit its mark.
Daryl stood just in time to hear the bang of the shotgun, and the buck fell to the ground, twitching in agony. But, the pain that the animal was going through didn’t cross Daryl’s mind once as he sped around the same path that Merle had taken, eager for the praise he was sure to get.
His little legs ran fast, snapping branches and running past bushes that scratched at his skin, but he didn’t notice. Driven by the accomplishment, Daryl burst out from behind a tree, mouth open and ready to shout for his brother.
That shout never came.Or, 18-year-old Merle takes 10-year-old Daryl hunting, and it couldn't have gone more wrong.
