Chapter Text
Philza and Kristin stood over the crib holding their twin toddlers. The twins were 3 years old at this point and looked completely different from each other. The one on the left, Wilbur had brown hair, wings, eyes, and was already slightly bigger than his twin. The one on the right Techno looked nothing like his twin with pink hair and wings, and red eyes. The wings would of course stay that color until their first molting. What color the wings would be was a fun guessing game that the couple would like to play.
Philza was often described as a cheery man by the villagers in Norwich. With bright blonde hair and blue eyes he was often dubbed the village's pseudo leader when trade caravans came through. The only thing even remotely strange about his appearance was the two giant crow wings on his back. Philza was known for the murder of crows that followed him everywhere and seemingly told him what trade caravan was coming through that week.
Kristin was known for her kindness to everyone and everything, when not helping the villagers with mundane tasks could often be found in her garden that was filled with exotic plants that were not found anywhere near Norwich. She had long brown hair, and brown eyes. She also had wings on her back that were much bigger than Philza’s, sleek black, and very similar to that of a raven’s wings. For the past several months when traveling around Norwich she has been accompanied by the most recent addition to their family, Tommy.
Tommy, only a few months old at this point, took after Philza with the Bright blonde hair and blue eyes. He, like everyone else in his family, had wings. His wings were as blonde as his hair. Despite the Twin’s quiet nature when they were that age he was quite a loud and cheerful baby.
“I’m telling you Kirstin, Wilbur will have black wings like us.” Philza said quietly as to not disturb their sleeping children.
“Oh? And what of Techno and Tommy?” Kristin whispered jokingly, careful not to shuffle Tommy too much.
“Easy gray and orange respectively.” Philza said without a moment of hesitation.
Kristin chuckled, “What led you to that conclusion?”.
“Techno is the quietest and Tommy is the loudest,” Philza stated as if it's the most obvious fact in the world.
Before Kristin could retort with her own ideas and reasons for their wing’s colors an urgent knock cut her off. Philza and Kristin gave each other a confused look before Philza turned around and walked to the door confused.
‘Who could it be this early?” Philza thought as he opened the door to see one of the newer people who moved to the villager, Stacy he thinks her name is, panting with a panicked look on her face.
“Philza…. fire….. Northwest… people injured…” Stacy got out.
“Whoa mate, calm down, take a breath and explain what happened.” Philza said with a concerned look on his face. As Stacy caught her breath Kristin, who overheard what Stacy had said quietly joined Philza at the door, Tommy still in her arms.
“There’s a fire on the northwest road, people are injured, and the fire is looking to spread to the town and the forest.” Stacy quickly said.
“How did the fire start?” Kristin asked as soon as Stacy finished talking. As she said this she started to use Tommy’s blanket to make a makeshift baby carrier so she could help with the injured using both hands.
“Don’t know it happened so suddenly,” as Stacy said this she pointed out behind her to a thick cloud of black smoke growing bigger by the second.
“Stacy bring Kristin to the injured, I'll go ahead and see if I can slow or stop the fire,” Phil ordered, brushing past Stacy. Philza opened his wings and took off towards the fire.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was an hour or two past Sunrise when the fire was finally put out. Luckily no one died and the only ones injured were the ones trying to put it out in the beginning before Kristin and Philza were alerted. Philza was covered head to toe in soot, while Kirstin looked tired as she held Tommy trying to calm the fussy baby long enough to get home for more formula.
The fire didn’t make sense. It started in the middle of the road, suddenly with no signs of a fire then, according to those who were first at the scene, a giant fire started and easily spread when the wind hit it. Not to mention how much harder it was to put out the fire than any other fire that Philza had ever seen in his time.
Philza, sighing, walked up to his house and noticed a few things seemed off. The crows seemed to be squawking urgently, some flying in wide circles around their property, others hopping on the roof and the trees.
One, noticing that Philza and Kristin let out what sounded like a squawk to all but to the couple alerting the other crows to their return -DADZA MUMZA-.
The crows started to circle around the two all chatting at once making what they are saying sound too jumble for anyone to understand.
“Whoa hey ya little shits what's got you all in a tizzy?” Phil asked.
-TWINS-
-TWINS GONE-
As Philza heard those words he ran into the house, completely forgetting how exhausted he was as adrenaline pumped into his system. He went to the crib where his sons laid soundly asleep not even 3 hours earlier, to find the window on the adjacent wall smashed and the twins gone.
Mumza was not far behind him and fell to her knees as she saw the scene before her. She clutched the now quiet baby who was happily waving a feather that landed on him while the crows were panicking.
Philza knelt down to his wife and hugged her and Tommy for an unknown amount of time. Before getting up and saying “I am going to go look for them. I’ll be back in a bit.”
Kristin nodded “I’ll stay here with Tommy cleaning this up and taking care of him” she gestured to the mess.
Phil then as he started getting up gave his wife a quick peck on the cheek and said “I’ll see you in a bit.”
Once he was outside he set flight scouring the land for any signs of them.
