Summary
“You have an intriguing mind, eirineftís,” the general remarked after the long stretch of silence had extended past being considered polite. His gentle voice stirred Louis from his near state of slumber, belatedly he realised he had been falling asleep against the general. “You preach of peace, yet your father sends you to learn the ways of war.”
Had he the time, Louis would have drowned in shame for the thoughts muddling within his head; of the warmth he so readily had leaned into, of the impulses he had nearly surrendered to. But, evidently he had no time, he needed to defend his ideologies.
“Learning does not guarantee implying. I’m learning to not tarnish my father’s glory, and gaining a skill never hurt anyone.”
