deja vu

Summary:

(You don’t remember
but you’ve done this before.)

a poem on familiarity, refusing it, and giving in.

Notes:

if you've been here a while you know that nearly all of my scott-centric fics have been poetic in one way or another. whether a literal poem or narrative fics that are more study than dialogue, every single time i give him the most flowery prose. and one night i was sitting, at 2am, thinking hey you know what this sad little man needs? another poetic fic,

so. i've decided to give him the honor of another stylized poem. enjoy :D

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The world is empty
only two souls remain.

Wrong.

(You don’t remember
but you’ve done this before.)

Whispers riddle your ears
indistinguishable
you know what they’re

saying.

Blood Blood Blood

Red Red Red

Fight.

(You’ve said those words before
weren’t you one of them once?)

Your heart bleeds for her
Your hands itch for destruction
as you set down the TNT
at your feet

(at her feet
like an offering)

You itch for the final kill.

Say your last vows.

Give yourself to another.

(You’ve done this before.)

The spark burns the tips of your fingers.
You smile
Smile wide for the camera.

Oh, to save another
Their horror the last thing you hear

As you give yourself

up.

(You’ve done this before.
Maybe that’s why it’s so

easy.)
