Work Text:

“Fucking idiot,” Katsuki says.

He’s standing infront of Deku, who’s perched on the rubble that was once a twenty storied building.

He swears some more and presses his in-ear monitor, “Yeah, I found him… Of course he isn’t okay-“ Deku opens his mouth to complain but an icy glare shuts him. “Read my co-ordinates… yeah… fast,” He finishes and glares at Deku.

The greenett has a hand clutched to his stomach, where Katsuki can see a small iron pipe lodged in. There’s shrapnel all over his body and his left arm is almost half-way torn from the shoulder. Deku’s face is ashen, and there’s blood everywhere.

He doesn’t seem like he’s cried yet, and that’s what tells Katsuki that something is very wrong.

It was an all-hands-on-deck mission, some woman who was one of All For One’s previous test subjects coming back for revenge. Katsuki wondered if they were ever truly going to be free of the villain’s clutches but even his death didn’t stop it coming.

They were all stationed at various places, Katsuki with a team of heroes in Shibuya. Izuku was to go straight to the villain’s lair, where they’re standing at the very moment. Shouto was with the rescue ops.

Having contact cut off from each other wasn’t an abnormality for them, it happened more times than Katsuki liked but they’d always turned out fine. This time around, after the villain was safely knocked out and in quirk cancelling cuffs, Katsuki had tried to contact his partners.

It had ended with Shouto telling him that they were putting up with damages and Izuku relaying that he was fine and would be sending the rest of his team over for the medical checks. Katsuki knew that the green haired man had fucked something up and took to the sky that very moment, landing when he saw the unmistakable blob of green that could only be his boyfriend.

“I’m-“ Izuku begins.

“Not now. Shouto’s coming and then we’re going to take you to the hospital. Save your breath,” he snaps.

There’s tell tale crackling sounds behind him that signal Shouto coming. He heard a sharp inhale from the heterochromatic man before he walks past him, straight to the green head’s side.

”Izuku,”

Izuku tries to move a bloody hand and winces.

Shouto takes a deep breath before he turns to Katsuki, eyes steely, “We’re going to have to pull the shrapnel out, tie his cut arm up and take him to the agency. The hospital’s too much of a risk and Eri’s going to be at our agency.”

Katsuki moves forward to kneel where Deku’s sitting and the tallest of the three gently holds Izuku’s shoulders down. He gingerly pulls a piece of glass from where it’s stuck in Deku’s skin, taking all the smaller ones before beginning on the bigger ones.

Deku flinches and tenses every time and halfway through, he begins to tear up. Shouto guides his face into his stomach where Izuku cries freely, one arm holding Katsuki’s shoulder in a vice grip.

“Just a bit more, then we can tie up that arm and get you away,” Shouto says lowly, brushing a hand through blood-matted green hair.

Katsuki’s done as fast as can, leaving the metal pipe still lodged in his abdomen for fear of too much blood loss should he remove it. He grabs the piece of cloth the dual haired man hands him, tying it around Deku’s shoulder as carefully as he can.

He goes to pick Deku up when the tallest speaks up again.

“I’ll take Izuku. You should go and tell them what’s happened,” He says and Katsuki frowns.

“I’m not doing that, IcyHot. You’re going and I’m bringing ‘Zuku.”

Shouto let’s his hand fall from Izuku’s curls, turning to him with the slightest of scowls. “I would hope that you trust me with our boyfriend, but it doesn’t seem so.”

“It’s not-“

“It is. Stop making this into shit it’s not. You’re not the only one willing to give their all to protect him and I love him just as much. Plus, you’re faster. Go and warn them and we’ll be done sooner.”

Katsuki still wants to be the taking Izuku but he knows a losing fight when he sees one. So he sighs and moves back, but before he can shoot to the sky, there’s a hand on his shoulder.

“Oh, and Katsuki?” Shouto says as he turns to him questioningly. The dual quirk holder leans forward to give him a chaste kiss, pulling away to smile at him tenderly, “We’ll be fine.”

Katsuki brings a hand up to reassuringly squeeze at Shouto’s hand before he’s off in the air.

When Izuku wakes up, there’s an IV line in his arm and he’s groggy but he sees two toned hair on the couch to his right and immediately tries to sit up.

Shouto is up in a second with a hand on Izuku’s shoulder. “Don’t get up, I’m going to call the doctor and Katsuki.”

Izuku reaches out to grab his wrist in a weak hold before the other can leave the hospital room. “Shouchan,” he starts, “I’m-“

Don’t. ” Shouto repeats again and leaves the room, returning with a doctor and Kacchan by his side. The doctor evaluates him, pokes at his body and asks him a few questions before turning to his boyfriends.

“He seems to be in a fine mental condition, no concussions or such but growth quirks can take a heavy toll on the body so we’re going to have to keep Deku-san here for tonight, at the very least,” The doctor goes on for a bit longer but Izuku doesn’t focus after knowing that he’ll be able to go home tomorrow.

When the doctor leaves and closes the door behind him, Kacchan’s on him in an instant. He has Izuku held by both his shoulders and is glaring at him with so much anger.

”You absolute fucking idiot,” Kacchan spits and Izuku stares up at him with wide eyes. He watches Shouto pull their rabid boyfriend away.

“Katsuki,” Shouto hisses, “He’s just woken up. Lay off,” he says but before Izuku can take a breath of air, he turns to give him one of his own icy glares. “But you should know that we’re not done with this. Not by a long goddamn shot,” he tells Izuku.

This isn’t, by any means, the first time Izuku’s endangered himself. His boyfriends know that. This also isn’t going to be the last time Izuku endangers himself, his boyfriends also know that. Yet, Izuku knows he’s going to get an earful when he’s well enough for it.

“I’m sorry,” he mumbles lowly, fisting the thin blanket that’s been thrown over his lower body.

“No you’re not. Stop lying to us,” Kacchan says. Izuku bites at his lower lip.

“I’m not lying! I’m sorry, not for what I did but for worrying you both.”

He looks up at them when the silence’s stretched a little too long to see both of them staring at him incredulously.

“What?”

“What the fuck,” Kacchan whispers.

“You didn’t worry just us. You were out for two days, All Might had to pull a few favours, your mother was worried sick, our friends were, Katsuki’s parents were, Eri was afraid she’d messed something up,” Shouto went on, calmly walking to his bed and sitting down on the corner.

“Midoriya Izuku, if you hadn’t just woken up from all that trauma, I would’ve let Katsuki have his way with you.” He finishes.

Izuku knows there’s people worried for him but he also thinks that these people should’ve been used to it by now. This is what they signed up for when they decided to get close to a hero. He reaches for Shouto’s hand and the dual haired man takes it with an exasperated huff, bringing it to his lips to leave a peck at his inner wrist and Izuku feels himself slightly flush.

“Desk duty for a month,” Kacchan says out of nowhere and Izuku turns to him with a betrayed look.

“You can’t do that!”

“Two months,” Shouto says while Kacchan drags a chair over to his bedside.

“That’s not fair,” Izuku whines.

“God, I hate you so fucking much,” Kacchan tells him even as he leans down to brush hair away, sweetly pecking his forehead and his eyelids.

“I love you too, Kacchan. And you,” he turns his blinding smile towards Shouto and gets another kiss, this time a sweet one on his lips.
