Summary
Longing was a feeling Lan Wangji was intimately familiar with. Sometimes he thought it run in his veins more than blood and breathed in his lungs more than air. It accompanied him when he wrote official correspondence in the gracefully tilted way of his characters, in the lulling monotone of his voice when he taught class or in the slow burn of his songs when he played the qin. It was so deeply engraved in his skin, his bones, his heart that he sometimes thought it made him him more than anything else. More than his forehead ribbon, more than his reputation of Hanguang-jun, more than being a Lan. It defined his very being. His endless longing. His endless love.
