Chapter Text

"Tobio. Tobio, psst. Tobio, wake up."

An incessant whispering met Kageyama's conscious when he withdrew from sleep. Squinting his eyes and stretching his limbs to pull himself from the warm, soothing lull of blissful nothingness, he rolled onto his side and peered up at a pair of stunning dark caramel eyes.

Yet as much as he wanted to admire the sight in front of him, said sight woke him up from his sleep, and therefore said sight was ugly and gross.

"Morning darlin'."

"Go away."

"Someone isn't a morning person, huh?" Atsumu teased, shuffling down the bed to cuddle the Prince even more.

"'Tsumu... we do this every-" Tobio cut himself off to yawn, "every morning."

"Aye," Atsumu agreed with a hum, "yet it never gets old. I'd choose yer cute morning face over anything else in this world."

"And I'd choose another hour in bed over your unabating whispering. You sound like a choking rat."

Atsumu just laughed and sat up in bed, grinning with mischief before pulling off the covers and dropping them unceremoniously on the floor. Now he could see Tobio entirely, and his grin softened into a smile as he cast a warm gaze over the body of the boy he had grown to love these past few months. Every curve and crevice was carved into his mind. Damn, he was in deep.

Tobio on the other hand shivered a the cool morning breeze flowing in through their open window, and he guessed it would be a rough day at sea for the Inarizaki crew. Even though he loved his new life on deck, travelling across the seven seas and learning about new places and people, he would never get used to the early morning rises.

"Cold." he mumbled, his voice muffled by the pillow he buried his face into.

"Come on love, you'll be warm once yer up and moving."

Tobio grumbled loudly before pushing himself up too, tucking his bare legs against his chest as he rubbed the remaining sleep from his eyes. Then, with a slow blink, he turned to look at Atsumu and made a grabbing motion. The Captain couldn't help but chuckle as he leaned onto the bed to kiss Tobio, melting at the soft touch of his lover's lips.

Tobio ran a hand through Atsumu's unruly blond hair before smirking and pulling them back down onto the bed. The soft bed cushioned the impact and Atsumu let out a laugh as Tobio hummed in content.

"You're warm." the younger male whispered between kisses.

"Yer beautiful." Atsumu replied with a teasing tone, moving his lips away to kiss the Prince's reddening cheeks; gently running his warm palms up Tobio's sides, he didn't miss the slight shiver that ran up his body.

"Not fair."

"Yer like it."

"Do not."

"Do to."

"Nu-uh."

"Whatever you say, sweetheart."

After one last long kiss, they got out of bed and washed and changed for the day. Sporting their usual attire, they left the Captain's quarters and crossed the ship to head down towards the kitchen. The sight of Kita and Osamu cooking breakfast met them, and Suna was slouched across the table, looking like he was dragged from his hammock.

"I've done me chores, why wake me up?" he whined, cat-like eyes glaring at Osamu.

"It's funny, that's why." the grey-haired male retorted, making Suna hiss at him.

"Suna, set the table." Kita instructed, knowing Suna would feel more awake and less annoyed if he was actually doing something productive.

"Morning." Tobio greeted as he and Atsumu sat at the table. "Rest well?" he asked whilst turning to face Kita, enjoying his calming presence in the morning.

"I did. And you?"

"Mhm. No night terrors."

"That's good news. And you, Captain?" continued Kita, his knowing expression making Atsumu huff.

"Aye, I slept well too. What are yer cooking?"

At the change of topic, Kageyama turned to Suna and asked what he would be doing that day. Suna said he needed to fix a leak in the brig, and so the Prince offered his services to help. Kageyama, although being with Inarizaki for some time now, didn't really have an official job on the ship. Atsumu was Captain, Kita his second in command, Suna helped with maintenance whilst Osamu did most of the cooking. Aran was in charge of maintaining weaponry whilst Ren spent a lot of time in the crow's nest. Tobio just went where he was needed, and he enjoyed the fact that everyday was a little different.

It was a pleasant change to the life he had been living for the past sixteen years.

Their talk was interrupted by the rest of the crew joining them at the table, each announcing some form of greetings with varying degrees of cohesion. Breakfast was a simple porridge and some leftover bacon from last night's dinner; within minutes the food was devoured and everyone headed out to their posts for the day.

Tobio spent his morning with Suna in the brig, handing the pirate whatever equipment he needed as he fixed up the ship. A few wooden boards, nails, and some sort of tar-like substance later, they had fixed the leak and headed onto the upper deck for some fresh air. Enjoying the salty air and mass expanse of blue nothingness, the pair bantered easily between them until Osamu called them for dinner. Simple sandwiches, but Osamu could make the most boring meal taste delicious.

Atsumu left the wheel to join them on the deck, leaning on the railing next to Kageyama whilst biting heartily into his sandwich.

"I've been thinkin'." he began, swallowing some bread with a swig of rum.

"That's dangerous." Tobio warned, laughing at the light shove to his shoulder.

"I've been thinkin'," the Captain tried again, "and I had an idea about where we can go for help on our quest."

"The great Captain Miya asking for help?" his twin questioned with wide mocking eyes. "I thought I'd never see the day!"

"Shut up you ugly brute."

"Once again, we're identical you twit."

"Anyways! Remember when we visited the Grey Isles and met those witches? You know, one was blond and one had glasses?"

"Aye?"

"Do yer think they would know anything about the Ocean's Heart?"

"They did say they were all-knowing." Aran said. "They were creepy too."

"Aye. We don't really know what the treasure is, what it looks like, nor where it could be. If anyone had a clue to give us it would be them."

"I do think it's likely that they know something." Kita agreed.

"Exactly. So I raise a vote that we go and visit them. Those in favour say aye."

"Aye."

"Aye."

"Aye."

"Aye."

"Aye."

"Aye."

"Then it's decided. We'll change course and head west." Atsumu announced before heading back over to the wheel, grabbing his compass and map to track their new route.

Tobio followed him and watched as the Captain's eyes focused on mapping their new journey, meticulously marking every detail. It was one of those rare moments where he was quiet and serious, and it allowed Kageyama a very nice view to behold.

"How long will it take to get there?" he asked after a few minutes' silence.

"Three, four days. As long as we stay en route. Yer worried, or anything?" Atsumu asked, meeting Tobio's gaze.

"Intrigued mostly, I've never met witches before. What are they like? Are they as shrivelled and scheming as they are in fairy tales?"

Atsumu chuckled before shaking his head.

"They look just like us. Young, knowing... attractive." Atsumu added, making Tobio shake his head with disbelief.

"Can I go five minutes without you flirting with me?"

"Nay, yer an easy one to tease."

"Says you."

"Aye, says me. You got a problem with that?" the Captain asked quietly, leaning in so their faces were centimetres apart.

"Hm... no, I don't mind."

"I'm glad."

Sharing a chaste kiss, Tobio stood close to Atsumu who began turning the wheel westward. With Atsumu's arm around his shoulders, and the warmth of the afternoon sun upon them, it was easy for Tobio to feel at home.
