Months had passed since the end of the Jedi Civil War. Many were still trying to recover from the aftereffects. The main planet of Coruscant was one such planet. While not directly attacked it had seen the damage done to their fierce protectors the Jedi.
Things had finally begun to settle now though. Things were slowly beginning to return to normal. On this particular sunny day a young Knight who had not been allowed to participate in the war and his Master return. They had been on a long term mission to Onderon where the Master was a good friend to the queen.
They weren't the only ones to arrive at the Temple this morning. Jedi Knight Revan was arriving at the Temple in search of a friend.
Jedi Knight Lukas Lambert was the first to step out into fresh air. Being stuck on the ship for almost a day was confining. After spending so much time on Onderon he did not enjoy being confined again. Right behind him stretching with a faintly amused look was Jedi Master Kavar.
The two had been nearly inseparable since Lukas returned to face the High Council's judgement four years prior. It had been a close call on whether he would be allowed to remain in the Republic much less a Temple. Many thought he would have returned to Revan's side. Only Kavar had really believed in him. Which was what allowed him to be retrained as a Jedi Knight. Kavar had been called back to the Temple and with the war over Lukas was allowed to come.
Looking from the outside one could see the similarities between master and apprentice. The two were of a similar height and preferred light weight robes. They both bmcarried two lightsabers in favor of their styles. Lukas's hair was slightly longer and his eyes were a darker blue. Kavar had lighter blue eyes that didn't hold the same darkness that spoke of the war. A darkness that was barely visible in Lukas's eyes as he had healed the best he could. He had come to accept his actions and their unintended consequences.
Kavar called out, "Lukas don't run off! Most of the Temple don't know you're here. I'm sure the Council would like to keep it that way."
"You mean Vrook and Atris," laughed Lukas easily, "Come on, Kavar. It's been so long since we've been back. I want to go to the Room of a Thousand Fountains."
Kavar snorted, "Council first. Then fun."
His only answer was good natured grumble but Lukas had switched his direction. Now they were headed straight for the Council Chambers. There was the faintest hint of a smile of Kavar's face.
They were so focused on their own thoughts they didn't notice a dark haired man entering the halls from the landing pad. At first the newcomer simply stared at them his mouth agape. Then he rushed off after the two.
It only took Lukas a few strides to realize they were being followed. Almost immediately his left hand dropped to his lightsaber. Instincts born from the Mandalorian War and the Civil War. Something was wrong and he knew it.
For his part Kavar was only a handful of seconds behind him. Their eyes were searching for the threat. Iziz might not have been in the middle of the Civil War but they had still seen Sith.
Around them Jedi stiffened they too placed hands on lightsabers or comlinks. Everyone remembered what happened to Dantooine. Even if they didn't automatically recognize Lukas and Kavar they wouldn't take the chance.
Then Lukas saw the man and a flicker of emotions crossed his face. Surprise, fear, confusion, before settling on cautious acceptance. When Kavar saw him there was an unreadable expression on his face. A few of the other Jedi called out friendly greeting as they released their grip on their lightsabers.
Revan called out his dark eyes alight with happiness, "Lukas! It's good to see you."
"Revan? You're happy to see me?"
Revan blinked in surprise as he asked, "I shouldn't be? From what I can remember we were good friends."
Sheepishly Lukas said, "We didn't part on the best of terms. I wanted to face the Council. You well..."
Revan understood in that moment and nodded. Then he noticed Kavar and greeted, "Master Kavar it's been a long time."
"Revan," Kavar returned his voice holding an edge to it, "We must go. If you want to speak to Knight Lambert we will be in my quarters later."
Revan opened his mouth then closed it and nodded. Kavar and Lukas continued their treck towards the Council Chambers. There was a lot less enthusiastic.
When they were in the elevator Lukas asked, "Do you think he meant it?"
Kavar sighed, "He is still recovering his memories Lukas. If he says that he still sees you as a friend I believe it. Either way we have each other. Just like in Iziz."
Lukas gave him a slight smile, "Together."
