Addison closes her eyes, not wanting to watch the other cheerleaders practice.
She had opted to sit out of practice. The urge was rising, and she didn't know what to do.
Ever since she had learned that she was a vampire, Addison had this uncontrollable urge for blood.
It would go away when she would eat food, but it would always come back.
She didn't want to hurt people.
She wouldn't hurt people, but the urge was so high.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Addison opens her eyes to see Willa standing in front of her.
She shakes her head. "The lust for blood is back, and it's really high this time. I don't know what to do."
Willa looks at her in sympathy. She moves to take a seat beside Addison on the bleachers.
"It's weird," Addison continues. "I never had this urge before, but ever since I learned who I am. Ever since I learned that I'm a vampire, the urge to suck blood has been so high."
Willa places her hand on Addison's. "Have you eaten anything today?"
Addison nods. "Fruits in the morning and meat during lunch. Food only temporarily works. I don't know what to do, Willa. I don't want to hurt people. I don't want to suck blood, but I really don't know what to do about this urge."
Willa can see the sadness and the pain in Addison's eyes. She can hear it in her voice, and her heart breaks a little.
'Maybe, this isn't the right time,' she thinks.
'No, it could help her.'
"Addison," she says, her voice gentle. "I think I might have something to help you."
Addison's eyes widened, and Willa can see a hint of hope in them. "You do?"
Willa nods her head. "A few years ago, the pack met a vampire. Unlike us at the time, the vampire was in contact with the human world. She even had a human girlfriend. The vampire told us that she used to have the urge to suck blood, but she no longer has it due to having a girlfriend."
Addison seemed confused by Willa's story. "But how? How does that-"
"Love. The vampire's love for her girlfriend made the blood lust go away."
Addison opens her mouth, wanting to say something but no words come out. Instead, she simply nods. She stares into Willa's dark eyes, feeling her face start to heat up.
Willa looks away for a brief moment. "I know it might be a lot to take in. I know you don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend." She turns back to look at Addison. "But if you-"
Addison cuts her off by kissing her lips. The kiss was soft, gentle, and sweet.
They both close their eyes, enjoying it.
When they break apart, they look into each other's eyes.
"It's gone," was all Addison said before kissing Willa again.
The urge for blood was gone.
It was replaced with love.
Love and a girlfriend.
