Jared woke to dim sunlight pouring in through a gap in the curtains. He shifted slightly, having only a moment of disorientation at the unfamiliar room before remembering: Brazil.
He looked to his other side and found Jensen still asleep, one hand on Jared's bare stomach. His lips twitched up into a slight frown, as if in annoyance at the patch of sunlight falling on him as well. Jared smiled and turned to him, drawing the thick blanket up over their head to block it out. Jensen's brow smoothed out and Jared pressed a light kiss to the corner of his mouth.
Jensen barely reacted, just shuffled closer for warmth. Jared let their legs tangle together, feeling the press of muscles against his own. He took Jensen's hand, fingers interlocking in what little space there was between their bodies. When he raised his other hand to push back Jensen's hair, he stirred.
"Quit staring, creeper," he mumbled with his eyes closed, though it came out garbled and mostly unintelligible.
Luckily, Jared had a doctorate in deciphering pre-coffee Ackles. "It's not creeping if you know I'm doing it."
"Shh." Jensen freed his hand from Jared's hold, landing unerringly on Jared's mouth. "S'too early."
"It's really not." That was a lie, because Jared hadn't bothered looking at the clock and he wasn't getting out of the blanket cocoon to check now either.
Jensen bought it though, if only for a moment, one eye squinting open. "Are you messing with me?"
He grinned. "Maybe."
Jensen's resulting groan was familiar- a thousand other mornings, in a hundred different shared rooms, with Jared waking up for his morning run and refusing to leave until he got Jensen to wake up just long enough to kiss him properly, and Jensen would whine and grumble and complain before giving in enthusiastically.
Right now, they were still at the first stage.
"Come on," Jared whispered, nudging their noses together. "It's my birthday."
Jensen just scoffed sleepily. "Not for another few days."
"But we're celebrating my birthday," he reminded and pressed another teasing kiss- this one was returned, just the slightest bit.
Jensen sighed into it- prickly stubble, morning breath, a sour-sweet remainder of the wine they'd shared before Jensen had slid deftly into his lap, hips rocking down with the ease that only came from being with someone for so long you know exactly what they like.
The memory of it was enough to make Jared clutch at Jensen a little tighter, leg slinging over his hip.
A soft moan escaped that Jensen clearly tried to stifle and Jared smiled into the kiss, smug. "Knew it. You're so easy."
"I hate you," Jensen muttered, but his hand fit over the jut of Jared's hipbone, the nails of his ring and pinky fingers digging into the bruise he'd put there last night on his way down. It hurt now, a delicious ache that had Jared shuddering.
"Yeah, I hate you too, Jen," he replied in a whisper. "So much."
Jensen kissed him then, properly, teeth digging into Jared's lower lip and dragging, then diving back in, licking into Jared's mouth. Jared pulled him, laying on his back and tugging Jensen on top. He wound an arm around him, other hand sinking into his hair again, feathery strands that had gotten long enough for Jared to curl around his fingers and tug. It incited a whimper that Jared swallowed happily and Jensen pinched his side in punishment.
"When do you have to go to the premiere?" Jared asked, breaking away for just a minute.
Jensen caught the edge of the blanket that had gotten tangled up, folding it back just enough to look at the clock. "Two hours."
He sighed. He didn't want to rush this. "When will you be back?"
Jensen pulled the blanker back over their head. "Event goes on till late evening, but I'll try to be back by 6."
"You fucking better."
Jensen grinned, sharp and delighted. "Shower, birthday boy?"
Jared smiled and kissed him again, pushing them up to a sitting position, the blanket falling down around them. "Sounds like a good idea to me."
