Sweet Drinks

Summary:

Poseidon. a Marine biology student, sweet tooth, and an overachiever extraordinaire finds out that he has been cut off from one of the most important thing (and he is convinced, essential) enzyme of the human race, caffeine.

By none other than his brother!

Stuck with definitely not enough hours of rest, anger, and piles of assignments will he be able to survive this year?

And perhaps with a certain barista... will he be finding himself thriving instead?

Notes:

Hello! It has been a grand total of five days since I've discovered this ship, and I've decided to write a thing or two for them. Please enjoy this coffee shop AU fic written by an author who absolutely hates coffee! I work slow but I will try my best to work and update this story atleast once per week!

There will be other ships too ^^ I'll keep it updated as the story goes.

Chapter 1: Banned from Energy Drinks

Chapter Text

"Fucking- I can't believe he just-" Running my hand through my hair, I growled. My brother who had proclaimed on more than one occasion to have loved me, did one of the most unforgivable things someone can do to a struggling university student. I sneered at the thick book I have been reading flipped halfway through on the table, my eyes dry and half closed from the lack of energy. Fuck, he needs it. He needs his source of his energy back.

"Poseidon, cut off some of your drinking bit by bit. The stuff you drink has enough sugar to start its own candy store and you need to give your eyes some rest. You have to understand, this is for your own good." His excuse of a brother said, making a rare gloomy face towards the blonde.

"Me? No, Hades. Instead, why don't you understand and stop being such a nosy bastard for once." Gritting his teeth, he continued. "I am no longer a mindless little toddler who doesn't know his limits. There is nothing to be discussed in the first place. You have a lot of work to do. I will take my leave now, this is wasting both of our time."

Apparently according to Hades he was 'addicted' to the drink and Poseidon thought his brother's remarks had gone to ridiculous levels. It was like he had never seen Poseidon ever before.

Poseidon is reliant, never addicted.

What his brother said was nothing less than just preposterous!

"Then you've left me with no choice." Hades sighed, like he just hadn't said an utterly regressing take for a man of his caliber. Frowning, Poseidon flipped one for his annoying brother and left the office.

That was a day before the jerk's brain came up with the most trashy comeback ( "Effective." The ass had said.) It consisted of buying a large amount of the production company shares and placing a ban on my name so that I can't buy even a can unless someone else buys it for me, after ransacking thoroughly my entire house removing the stash I bought just a day before, leaving none. Quickly I grabbed my phone typing a text to the dog who I believed was my brother for the last 24 years I've lived.

Hades.

What?

Where. Are. My. Drinks.

Told you I would do something about it.

And when did you have the time to ransack my entire house!? Even my secret stash is missing???

Big brother is always watching.

I'll just make Proteus buy me some more.

You are certainly welcome to try.

And Hades must have told Poseidon's servants not to answer his wishes of buying any more supply of his favorite drink.

Even Proteus refused to buy me more.

"No, Poseidon, I won't buy you more of that 'Monster' drink." Was Proteus' answer to his request for more cans of the drink. And Poseidon, of course, logically pointed out that the man is still his servant and must answer his wishes. But the man in question feigned ignorance and went on his chores of cleaning the already spotless house and doing laundry.

And now , I am stuck with a ridiculously thick book filled with fishes, only three hours of sleep, and no sugar and caffeine to help him get through. He blinked hard and pushed his eyelids. Life is a bitch .

Suddenly, a notification popped up from my phone.

1 message from Proteus.

Glancing at it, I tapped on the pop-up and saw a message with a link.

Here.

After seeing the link Proteus had sent, I tapped it. The link reveals a website of what seems to be a fancy outdoor café with fairy lights strung up along the trees that's growing strategically around seats. From the looks of it, it reminds me of the coffee shop that has been talked about many times recently as a great date spot, and an incredibly popular one at that.

How about you go here and seethe there, I can't handle you whinging anymore.

Clucking my tongue, I quickly typed a reply to him.

If only you bought me more when I asked you to, then both of us wouldn't be so miserable right now.

"Fucker just read it." Glaring at the screen, I buried my head in the crook of my arms, I feel like I'm about to pass out soon. And I honestly would– if only there wasn't a class in an hour.

What? It's not my fault staying up to finish Herlock Sholmes.

Groaning and stretching, I closed the book shut. Maybe a visit won't hurt. Poseidon really needed the caffeine and the coffee shop is popular because it's close to his campus anyways.

This should be the place.

He immediately notices the abundance of fairy lights at the place, and true to its reputation, the place is big . Looking around, there are a lot of people, mainly couples filling the place and the combined noise is just something Poseidon can't stand, not while being his usual self, and definitely not currently when he's miserable and about to faceplant to the ground due to exhaustion and sleep-deprivation.

Blinking hard, Poseidon just started his motorcycle right back and drove away from the place. Not today. I'll find another place.

After a minute, he drove upon another… coffee shop in a narrow alleyway. He glances at what he guesses is a steaming coffee cup amateurishly carved to a wooden hanging sign next to a wooden stained glass door.

The alleyway barely can fit my motorcycle but if I am careful enough…

And true to what I had thought, my motorcycle fits. I smirk as I bring down the side stand.

The alleyway is not only narrow, but also gloomy and dark, with a few bricks coming out from the walls and wild plants covering a few spots. It is definitely not the place he should linger on but in this case any source of caffeine is great. And this place, while beat down, is largely more tolerable than the previous café, there was no one in sight, the shop being placed in an irregular location.

Though to say that the position of the coffee shop is irregular will be an understatement, especially since it's located inside an alleyway almost too narrow to even park his own bike. Opening a business not even comparable to the other competitor just a few minutes away. How does a place like this even exist?

I'd be surprised if people even know about this coffee shop in the first place.

I silently contemplate the decision of entering the café, it's weird that the place is still running, when there is a largely more successful and decorated business selling the same product just a few steps away. Hades would have clenched his stomach laughing.

Maybe the drinks are good. That's the only reason I could think of.

Anyways, the café Proteus told him to go to was intolerable compared to this. Plus, all kinds of coffee are horrible, bitter, and he'd rather spit it out than drink it willingly. But this time, it is absolutely necessary that he take some if he wants to survive today.

Damn Hades that nosy tyrant and damn Proteus for even listening to that piece of shit.

Without waiting a moment longer, he pushed the wooden door with stained glass.

As Poseidon enters, he hears the slight bell chime welcoming him and steps on the hardwood floor.

"Welcome." The man behind the counter greets.
