Chapter Text
It was a normal weekday morning in the Johanssen household. Gerald and his little sister Timberly were sitting at the table, while their dad made Breakfast.
Timberly was the youngest of the three Johanssen siblings, after Gerald and Jamie “O”. Jamie “O” had already moved out of the house by this point, although he still occasionally visited.
The two siblings ate their breakfast, while their dad sat down. Both Gerald and Timberly then went upstairs to get dressed and ready for school.
Before they knew it, they were already on the school bus. Their school had an odd name as it was numbered as PS 118. Timberly was now in fourth grade, while her brother and his friends were Fifth graders.
Timberly entered her class and sat down on her usual seat. After the rest of the class sat down, their teacher Mrs Moore came in.
“Before we begin our work for today, I want to make an announcement!”
“What announcement?” One kid named Jack held his hand up and spoke.
“This week, our school is playing host to two exchange students” Mrs Moore said.
“Mrs Moore, what's an exchange student?” Timberly asked.
“An exchange student is someone who comes over from another school to learn about our lifestyle, and broaden their social horizons”.
Mrs Moore paused for a bit before continuing, “It normally applies for High Schools and Universities, but these two Students are also Elementary school kids like yourself”.
“Why the change then?” Timberly asked.
“Because, although these kids speak perfect English, their school principal thought it would be a great idea, if they knew what it was like to socialise in another school”
Everyone in the class then heard knocks on the door. “Come in” Mrs Moore stated. The door opened and the class saw a small girl enter the room.
This girl had short black hair and black Mary Jane shoes. She also had a white top, blue collar and a skirt.
“Class, let me introduce you to Theresa Laverne Le Maise” Mrs Moore stated.
“Hello” Theresa said in a quiet voice, indicating that she was nervous.
“Where do you come from Theresa?” Mrs Moore asked.
“Third Street Elementary school in-” Theresa was struggling to remember what was the name of the city, she lived in.
Some of the other kids were laughing at this, which Theresa was starting to blush.
“Quiet children!” Mrs. Moore warned. “It's perfectly normal to be nervous, Theresa”.
“Why don’t you sit down in that seat there” Theresa then went to sit down.
“Mrs. Moore, who's the other exchange student?” Timberly asked.
“Hello my name is T.J Detweiler” T.J addressed Mr. Simmon's fifth grade classroom.
“Nice to meet you Detweiler” Mr. Simmons said.
“I would like to shake your hand sir” T.J said
“Really?”
“Sure”
Mr. Simmons then went and shook the boy's hand. However as soon as he did, he got an electric shock.
The class couldn’t contain themselves and erupted into laughter.
“Oh, and I'm a prankster” T.J said while showing off his jolly buzzer.
Mr. Simmons then regained his composure. “That's nice T.J, why don’t you sit down”. Mr. Simmons was a very nice teacher and would never raise his voice, even if he got pranked.
T.J then sat down in an empty seat that was near Gerald and his best friend Arnold Shortman.
“Hello T.J, I'm Arnold and this is my friend Gerald” Arnold said.
“Nice to meet you two” T.J replied.
Pheobe and Sid were sitting in the row of seats behind them.
“The new kid reminds me of you Sid” Pheobe said
“Why is that?” Sid asked
“I mean look, he has similar clothes and even wears a backwards cap”.
“At least I don’t go around jolly buzzing teachers”.
Later that day during Lunch, Arnold introduced T.J to his other friends. There was Harold, Stinky, Sid, Eugene, Pheobe, Rhonda and last but not least Helga.
In the cafeteria, T.J approached Sid and Stinky.
“Like the Cap”
Thanks” Sid said, not knowing to say next.
T.J looked at Arnold and his group of friends who were sitting at the table.
“I think we are going to get along just fine” T.J stated.
