Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

A tall woman. A small child. An average-sized person.

The child was grasping the woman’s hand. The person was standing next to the child with their arms behind their back.

Standing on the balcony of the palace. Overlooking the townspeople.

“Ma’am,” the person spoke, startling the woman.

“Oh, my! I mustn't have seen you there, haha!” She exclaimed, looking over at the familiar face. “Do you have any news for us?”

The child looked over at the person, blankly.

They had lavender hair. It curled inwards. A poncho, colored a flat mauve and was dyed white at the tips.

A strange disk was situated on their head. It was black on the outskirts; bluish purple on the inside.

The child blinked.

“Yes, ma’am,” they responded, solemnly, “your husband… he left, today. Around an hour ago.”

The woman shut her eyes. “Yes. I am aware.

“Did he give any reason?”

“Yes, ma’am, he left to visit family in another kingdom.”

The woman grimaced. That’s a nice way of putting it. Another kingdom, huh?

“Th… Thank you, Quartz.” She forced a smile. “You are dismissed.”

Quartz nodded respectively and left. The woman and the child were left.

“Mama?” The child babbled, pulling on the woman’s arm. “What going?”

The woman squeezed the child’s hand. “N…” she thought about what she was going to say. She didn’t want to tell her child what was truly happening.

Not yet, at least.

“Nothing. It’ll be fine, okay?”

The child huffed. “No believe.”

The woman ignored the child and kept looking at her citizens.

Sitting down, the child pulled the woman down with them to sit down.

She complied. The two sat in comfortable silence, watching the kingdom go about their business.

“No sad,” the child said, hitting the woman lightly in the shoulder.

They could tell the woman was upset. Her expression was twisted into a thoughtful, sorrowful, far-away look.

The woman looked back at her child, and a small smile ran away at her face.

The child rested her head on the woman’s arm and yawned. “Sleepy. Bye.”

They fell asleep. The woman sighed.

“Oh, Smoky.

“I hope this doesn’t affect your future.”

A/N: This is most likely going to be changed. kinda due to the weird dialogue at the end and because i dont like how its all smoky-centric. but yeah thanks for reading
