Loading World...: All for Nothing (Volume 1- REVAMP EDITION)

Summary:

After a few years of living in peace and getting used to their new surroundings, things are starting to look better for them. After all, Minecraft is a strange place.
It's all ruined when the Shades tear up their livelihood by sending Evan to the void. They've tried almost everything in the book to get him out, before more shit gets ruined by the Shades and their whole "city" is destroyed. They have to start anew and live humbly in a self-made village, until the Shades strike again and destroy what little hope they had left.
...
Now, the six remaining players are scattered across the map. No contact with each other. All on their own. Each dealing with their own shitty battles.
It's not until fate begins to draw them together that they find out the weird shit Smoky has been up to. (but that's in the next volume)
(This was started in February 2022, I'm just uploading it now because I feel like it lol)

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

[New Achievement Unlocked: Volume ???]

2/11/2022

Clash.

Lemon’s sword swung against the Piglin’s, creating the rough sound of metal rigorously slamming against each other.

She wiped beads of sweat off of her forehead with her free hand and started backing up, forcing herself to eat an overheated and slightly rotten carrot to boost her health.

This wasn’t looking good for her.

Here was Lemon, smack-dab in the middle of the Nether, running out of food, running out of weapon and armor durability, and most importantly-

She was lost .

Where was Mothercre? Where was Evan? Rohan? Smoky? Hell, anyone ?

Her thoughts were solely fixed on this swordfight, though.

Clash! Shiiing!

Lemon parried her head to the side as the Piglin swung right in between her eyes.

With a swift move, she swung her sword in front of her and expertly knocked the Piglin’s golden sword out of its hands.

The Piglin, losing balance, wobbled forwards. Lemon took the opportunity and swiped at its side, making it fall into the vast ocean of lava below it.

Lemon sat there, covered in sweat, slowly losing her mind under all of this heat.

I need to get out of here , Lemon thought desperately to herself, scanning the Fortress for some sort of exit- if any.

She wanted to get back to them , the people she’d been through countless adventures with, the people she could count on-

Count on?

Could she really count on them?

Were they even her friends anymore?

They left her out here.

They weren’t coming back for her, to her knowledge.

Could she really trust them anymore?

She pondered to herself.

Three and a half weeks and counting.

Nothing.

No sign of anyone.

Although she was surrounded by all kinds of life, she felt she was truly alone.

Only her and her thoughts.

Lemon slouched against the wall

Was this her brain tricking her, after all of this time in the excruciating heat?

She begins to feel an emotion she’s held inside of her this entire time beginning to vanish.

Her hope.

It's starting to fade.

They have to come for her soon enough.

Please?

Lemon thinks about Obsid.

Didn’t they promise to save Evan from the Shades?

Didn’t they promise to help restore the district?

Didn’t they promise to fix everything?

Didn’t they promise salvation?
No. That's childish, to rely on one guy to make everything better like a child running to their mommy or daddy to make everything better.

Foot after the other, she steps on soft-ish, melting rock that’s hot to the touch.

It makes a disgusting squishing sound.

The hazy atmosphere around her adds to her sense of dying hope.

How long has she been breathing in ash and smoke?

She wipes her forehead with her arm again, and adjusts her ponytail.

Her clothes stick to her back, slick with sweat.

Lemon opens her inventory.

She’s running out of overworld food.

Six rotting carrots, one measly loaf of bread, and a disappointingly small supply of steak.

She really really does not want to resort to eating rotten flesh.

So far, she’s had no luck finding ruined nether portals.

It wouldn’t matter, anyways; her diamond pickaxe is about to break.

Obsid. Quartz.

Where were they when he needed them the most?

They promised salvation.

They promised help.

Yet, here he was.

Sitting in the middle of an abandoned Woodland Mansion, nobody to laugh with, nobody to reminisce old times with, nobody to even sit in silence with.

He had to help them; they were alive, somehow, right?

Right?

Rohan contemplates jumping. Again.

Smoky sat atop the netherbrick throne.

They sighed.

They had everything; gold, netherite, servants, gourmet meals, a grand palace, a comfortable throne.

Something felt.. Missing.

Was it those kids they used to frolic around with? No, it couldn’t be.

Ambers-to-Ashes had passed, and, being the only living relative of them, they had to take up the throne.

Passed… Yeah.

They drew her lips into a firm line.

They think back to the others again.

Was it really worth it though?

They regularly think back to their adventures with their old “friends.”

Lemon, Rohan, Mothercre, Evan…

They wondered where they were now.
Perhaps they were dead?

Perhaps the Shades had taken not only Evan, but the rest of them too?

Or, perhaps they were altogether, living happily. Forgetting Evan and moving on.

Who knows.

The Shades were almost unstoppable, anyways.

They doubted that those kids had gotten Evan back from the shades. They hadn’t checked, anyways.

Hell, they probably died in the process, knowing that Lemon kid, always taking

initiative when she probably shouldn’t be.

Smoky let out another breathy and exasperated sigh.

They had to admit.

They were bored.

Those adventures with their friends were fun .

Exploring caves, wandering through forests, finding the different biomes.

Sitting here on a throne with everything you want just isn’t the same.
