Chapter Text

Luz put the final touches on the portal door back to the demon realm. She took a deep breath as she placed the key inside the lock and opened. At first, the door glowed in the orange-green ambiance it had when all she could see through was reflection. But to Luz’s surprise, the door quickly shifted into what Luz could only assume was the boiling isles. I can’t believe I'm actually about to do this.. Luz took a familiar photo out of her jacket pocket. It was a photo of her mom Camila, Amity, Gus, Willow, Hunter and Vee all lined up into a family photo. Luz had requested an extra print, and drew Eda and King into the background. It was evident who was drawn and who was really there, but it was the best Luz could have done at the time. Luz stuffed the photo back in the pocket of Eda’s Grugdby jacket. Luz had always meant to give it back sometime, but she had never gotten the chance. And at that point, Luz didn’t know if she really wanted to. She sighed, preparing herself for the task. She stepped through the portal. The head of the titan had been severely altered beyond recognition. It was essentially destroyed now, with little remains beyond the smooth bone floor remaining in-tact. Luz folded and then took the portal door, walking to the edge of the head. She placed a fire glyph on the door for good measure, and then threw it as hard as she could off the head. Looking below, the isles looked nothing like Luz was familiar with. The boiling tide had grown high, and the grass was unnaturally black and orange. Luz stood, staring at the sight of the place she once considered a second home. She sat down, allowing her legs to dangle in the air as she looked over the land. It was almost calming in a sort of depressing manner. So, it’s all gone now.. Luz thought. Her mind went blank, thinking of purely nothing at all. But then, a childish yet booming voice broke the silence. “YOU!” Luz turned, putting one foot on solid ground again, but keeping the other in the air. Crap. It was The Collector. “You left me!” The Collector shouted, anger showing load and clear in his tone. “You were supposed to play with me! And you took your dumb friends with you too!” Luz sat helplessly as the Collector drew closer to her. “I.. I-” Luz stuttered, trying to desperately think of a way to ease the Collector’s anger. “I was going to go get more players for The Owl House game, they’re on their way now.” Luz knew the excuse was lackluster at best, but it was all she could come up with in the heat of the moment. "Titan, how could I forget about the collector??" Luz thought. The Collector was right next to Luz now, so much so Luz could read his expression. “Hmm…” The Collector stood in thinking. Luz stood up. “Okay!” Luz would have stumbled back in surprise, if “back” didn’t mean falling to her death. “Hey, you wanna play Hide and Seek while we wait? I wanna seek first!” Before Luz could do or say anything, The Collector started counting. “One.. Twoo…” Luz looked desperately around her surroundings, there was nowhere she could reasonably hide in. It was all clear space. “Three… Four…” Luz panicked and began to scratch an invisibility glyph on the floor with her nails, but it was not enough. She could barely get any kind of mark onto the surface, let alone a whole glyph combo. “Nine… Ten… Ready or not, here I come!” Luz flipped up her hood and ducked into a ball on the floor in a last ditch effort to hide. The Collector laughed. “You silly goose, I found you!” The Collector kneeled down to Luz’s level, and she turned her head to meet his gaze. “Boop!” The Collector effortlessly tapped Luz’s shoulder, and she was flung into the sky.
