With Justice, Anders had become much more sensitive to the presence of mana and pieces of the Fade in the waking world—and with Hawke’s help, even more so. Every enchanted object tickled his senses, any spell cast in close proximity would make shivers run down his spine, and every mage’s mana now seemed unique and unmistakable, a clear signature of any mage he met.
Which is why it was strange for him to to sense Hawke’s mana in a way so unlike how the man presented himself. When idle, Hawke’s mana was the whispers of snow, the steadfast serenity of ice, the deceptive calm before a tempest, and yet—it never manifested as such.
For the life of him, Anders couldn't think of any good reason as to why.
