“Karinaaaaaaa!” Winter whined. “Wait up. What type of psycho wakes up at 6 am to go for a run?!”
“The psycho you're dating apparently,” the older replied casually, not missing a step. “Come on, we are almost there.. only around 100 meters to go.”
An audible groan was heard before Karina turned around and offered for Winter to hop on her back. Winter gleefully accepted and hopped on right away. As they reached their destination, Karina set Winter back on her feet and allowed for her to enjoy the view.
“Woah... when did you find this beach?” Winter exclaimed, immediately taking off her shoes to jump in the water.
“We live around the ocean so I tried to find the quickest way to it. I somehow stumbled across this place. Do you like it?”
“Like it?? I LOVE IT!”
“Glad you think so babe.”
Winter immediately blushed, obviously not used to the pet names yet. The two continued to play around in the water until a very loud grumble disturbed their tag session.
“Looks like someone’s hungry,” Karina pointed out while staring down at a very embarrassed Winter.
“I- it’s not my fault you dragged me out of bed on a Sunday morning at 6am and didn’t let me eat food before we left.”
“If I let you eat you would have puked a long time ago baby girl. Let’s go back, I’ll cook you some pancakes or whatever you want.”
All Winter could do was nod, still not being able to process being called “baby girl”. As they returned to Winter's house, Karina headed straight to the kitchen to cook something for her very energy depleted girlfriend.
“Now I know where you got that stamina and abs from,” Winter groaned, struggling to regain her stamina.
“What do you wanna do later?” Winter asked while the two were playing random board games that they found in the closet collecting dust.
“I usually work out at around 6.”
“Can you not skip going to the gym for one day? Was the morning run not enough for you..?” Winter groaned while pouting.
“Alright… I’ll skip a day – but only because I can’t resist that cute puppy face of yours. What do you want to do later?”
“Surprise me,” Winter replied smugly while throwing a sneaky wink.
“When I said ‘surprise me’ I didn’t expect to come to an arcade!”
“I mean we both love arcades so-”
“Stop talking and let's get playing!”
“Alright, easy tiger. We have a long time to waste.”
The two girls ended up staying at the arcade and playing different games for over four hours. Since the arcade was open for 24 hours, no one kicked them out and they got to stay for as long as they wanted. As cliche as it sounds, Karina ended up getting a stuffed puppy for Winter from the claw machine and the latter could not be happier. At the end of their little date, they both headed back to Winter’s house and, as it was late, Karina ended up staying the night. Karina had stayed over before, so it wasn’t a big surprise to Winter’s parents when they found Karina cooking in their kitchen in the morning.
“Karina! What a surprise! I didn’t know you stayed the night!” Ms. Kim greeted the long haired girl.
“Good morning Ms. Kim! I took Winter to the arcade last night and we stayed for longer than we expected so I ended up staying the night. I hope you don’t mind that I didn’t ask you. I assumed you were sleeping and didn’t want to wake you,” Karina replied while bowing.
“Silly dear. You are always welcome in our household. “
“Mom, look at this cute puppy Karina got for me last night!” Winter exclaimed while running into the kitchen, holding the stuffed animal.
“Why, that is a very cute puppy! Now what do you say to Karina for putting up with you, winning you a stuffed animal AND cooking for all of us?”
“Thank you Karina!” Winter said very energetically while practically bouncing up to Karina to give her a hug.
“Alright your welcome Winter. Now eat your food before it gets cold,” Karina replied, laughing at how cute Winter is.
It was times like this when Karina really saw the inner puppy in Winter. The Winter that she had grown to love. Sure, she was a grown 16 year old – but the childish side of her was something that never failed to put a smile on Karina’s face.
“Karina? Are you ok? You zoned out for a sec,” Winter asked worriedly. “Do you need to lie down or get more sleep?”
“Relax Win, I’m fine. I was just thinking about how cute you are.”
“Oops I said that out loud didn’t I...” she realized as she saw how red Winter had turned.
“You sure did honey. Winter, help Karina with the dishes, I need to go to work but you two have a good day today ok!”
“Ok mom! Have fun at work!”
“Oh I sure won’t but thank you dear,” Ms. Kim replies to her daughter before getting her purse and putting on her shoes and heading out the door.
“So it’s just us left now babe...”
“Winter. Please just tell me what you want to do.”
“Alright you impatient child.”
“I’m older than you.”
“Still.”
Winter ended up bringing Karina to a park and bought both of the ice cream. They both ate their ice cream in a comfortable silence as they both enjoyed the surrounding environment. They soon found themselves ice cream less and in front of an indoor mini golf arena. They decided to go in and paid both their tickets while they started golfing in the glow in the dark arena. Since it was still pretty early, not many people were there and they took their sweet time. There was a fair share of teasing from both parties and it made the whole experience much more memorable.
“Karina, how is it already the 18th hole...”
“Have you not had enough yet?”
“Nope,” Winter responded while pouting for the seventh time in their short time at the golf arena.
“Let’s go back and redo some holes then.”
“YAY LET'S GO BACK TO THE HOLE WITH THE CRAB!”
“Alright I’m right behind you, no need to shout”
Hours went by before Winter finally decided she had enough and they left the mini golf arena.
“Where to now?” Karina asked after they exited.
“Hmm... wanna go to the animal shelter?”
“The animal shelter? We can’t adopt any of the pets though...”
“I know.. but I really want to pet some animals.”
“I want to as well, but I’m afraid I’ll get too attached and won’t be able to leave...” Karina replied sadly.
“It’s fine! We can go back everyday and pet them so it’s like we still give them the attention they deserve!”
“Are you sure they won’t kick us out?”
“Why would they? They want more people to help take care of the pets!”
“Alright. Now lead the way to your kind, my very big adorable puppy Winter!”
“KARINA. Fine, let's go. I’m still not your big adorable puppy.”
“Hmm I think that’s a discussion for another day. But for now... PETS!”
“Alright alright let's go!”
Once the two got to the shelter, they spent their time walking the dogs and playing with the cats. The dogs seemed to recognize their kind as they were extra friendly to Winter and seemed to dislike Karina. The cats, on the other hand, favoured Karina and not Winter. This had soon started a fight between the two girls.
“We are adopting a dog. LOOK AT HOW CUTE AND PLAYFUL THEY ARE!”
“NO LOOK HOW MUCH CUTER THE CATS ARE! PLUS WE HAVE A DOG ALREADY! YOU DOUBLE AS MY PUPPY!”
“I DON'T COUNT! LOOK AT HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE BEEN BITTEN AND SCRATCHED IN THE PAST TWO MINUTES! I SWEAR CATS HATE ME!”
“YOU’RE OVERREACTING!”
“NO I AM NOT!”
“Fine ok how about we just get one of each.”
“Deal. Anything is better than Ningning’s pet gecko.”
“A pet what...?”
“Yea. I don’t know what she was thinking but she loves him so who am I to interfere.”
“Ok....”
The two girls spent all their time at the shelter and finally returned home at 10pm.
“I’m going to head to my own house tonight.” Karina announced as they reached Winter’s doorstep.
“Aww why...”
“I need to go on a run tomorrow and unless you want to come with me...”
“Say no more! Goodnight Karina!!”
“Night babe. Sweet dreams!”
“You too!”
“Ok now go inside. I don’t want you to catch a cold.”
“Alright goodnight!” Winter said as she went inside and closed the door behind her.
Karina made her way back to her own house before she received a text from the short haired girl.
|Today was really fun and I had a great time! We should do it again in the near future! (Hint: tomorrow!)|
She couldn’t help but smile at how cute her girlfriend was and replied.
