It has been two months since Winter and Karina officially started dating, and everything has been moving smoothly so far. Fallon continued to text Karina, obviously not taking the hint that she was not interested in the boy. She has been sending obvious hints but this boy seemed to be more oblivious and blind than Dora. Winter has been witnessing all of their interactions – now, she wants to know what Fallon really thought of her and how he had thought it would be ok for him to play with her heart.

Those three words shocked Karina so much that she jumped off her bed and began to spam call and text Winter. Winter didn’t pick up despite her 500 texts and 20 calls, therefore leaving Karina to fend for herself.

As soon as her front door bell rang she immediately ran and opened the door to a confused Winter.
“What is so urgent for you to send me that many notifications and calls?” She questioned as she was getting dragged straight into Karina’s bedroom.
Karina silently sat on the edge of her bed, waiting for Winter to read over the text.
“THAT AS*HOLE. DOES HE THINK IT’S OK TO HIT ON OTHER GIRLS RIGHT AFTER? ESPECIALLY IF THAT PERSON IS HIS EX’S GIRLFRIEND?”
“To be fair it has been 8 months since you broke up-“
“So now you standing up for that b*tch?”
“No I would never! I am just looking at it from his perspective.”
“Karina, he has done all of these things to me and you're still trying to pity him?”
“Babe calm down! In his perspective he just found a pretty girl and now is just trying to hit on her! I agree we need revenge but how?”
The pet name quickly worked its wonders as Winter calmed down a great amount and was now lying on Karina's lap.
“In all seriousness, how do I respond to him? We have left him on read for ten minutes now.”
“Just ghost him. He’s not worthy of your time.”
And with that the two girls found themselves cuddled up in the couch plotting ways for revenge and Karina's phone long forgotten on her nightstand.
“Have you ever thought of telling more people about our relationship?” Karina asked while playing with Winter’s bangs.
“I like how it is right now to be honest. We don’t have to worry about anyone judging us and we are free to be ourselves.”
“But schools are starting soon. Do you want to keep it a secret?”
“It really depends on how people take it. I wanna first tell our close friends then see how we should break the news to everyone else. Imagine how Fallon’s gonna react!”
“It’s gonna be so hard to walk past you and not plant a kiss on your very kissable lips”
“Karina! Control yourself for god's sake”
“I don’t think I can do that. I’m in too deep.”
“You flirt.”
“This flirt got you to fall for her.”
“I won’t deny that.”
“So we get to tell everyone we are dating?”
“After we get our revenge on Fall. He needs to learn that he can’t play with girls' hearts like that.”
“Hmm. I don’t want to create enemies though. Like I still want to be somewhat friends with him.”
“Understandable. What if we both just spammed him with middle finger emojis!”
“Winter....”
“Alright alright..”
“How about I pry about his love life. Ask him about any ex’s and stuff. Maybe he would tell me about how he really felt about you?”
“GREAT IDEA. This way we can make a win-win! Make him feel guilty for playing with hearts and we get to break his!”
“My thoughts exactly.”

“Calm down Winter!”
“HOW CAN I CALM DOWN WHEN I JUST LEARNED THAT MY EX THOUGHT THAT NOTHING “CLICKED” AND HE DOESN'T REGRET BREAKING UP WITH ME – AND FOR NO CLEAR REASON WHATSOEVER. HE COULD HAVE JUST TOLD ME THE TRUTH.”
“Winter you're acting like you still like him.. are you sure you're over him? Cus if not, our relationship can wait.”
“No Karina it’s not like that, it’s that school starts tmr and we're gonna have to face him tomorrow.”
“Just don’t worry about it and we will be fine!”
“Alright I trust you. We should get some sleep.”
“Stay the night?”
“Fine. No funny business.”
“Ok! Love you good night!!”
“Love you too. Night.”
“RINA!! Haven’t seen you in a while!!” Giselle practically shouted across the hallway.
“Hey Gis! It has been a while has it not!” Karina responded while fiddling with her locker.
“Yea ever since you and winter started seeing each other I never got to see you. I guess you were too busy being all lovey dovey.”
“Shhh. Winter wants to keep our relationship a secret for now. And you act as if you aren't all lovey dovey with Ningning. Speaking of Ningning, there she is. Hey Ning!”
“Sup guys! How’s the first day been so far?” Ningning responded coolly.
“It’s been torture and classes haven’t started yet.”
“Of course you would think that babe. You need to start paying attention in class.”
“Sorry to disturb you being cute, have you seen Winter?” Karina interrupted before she could get fully ignored.
“Oh yea I saw her with Fallon earlier. I don’t know what she’s planning but I saw some other people shipping them. You two are dating so they should know to back off soon.” Ningning replied, oblivious to the whole situation.
“Babe... Winter told Karina to keep their whole relationship a secret.”
“What? Well I’m sure Winter has a plan. She’s not the type to play with other’s feelings.”
“Well Winter is clinging to Fallon right now so I would think something went wrong – hey Karina? Where are you going?”
“Uhh just going to check out my schedule with the office, I think they messed up something... bye!”
“I would never take back my ex my a*s – look at you being all clingy with her,” Karina thought as she sighed in defeat. Quite a sight it was to see her own girlfriend cling to her ex while half the student body chanted their names.
The same behaviour occurred for around two weeks before Karina had enough and decided to confront Winter about it.
“Babe could we talk?” Karina said while sitting on the edge of Winter's bed while Winter was busy texting on her phone.
“Sorry Fallon just texted me”
“Do u enjoy talking to him?”
“I’m mainly just trying to take revenge on him,” Winter replied while smiling at her screen, obviously finding something Fallon sent funny.
“Winter.”
“Winter.”
“WINTER WILL YOU LISTEN TO ME?”
“I’m listening geez, no need to shout”
“All you ever do is text Fallon all day and you even cling to him. You barely even hold a simple conversation with me anymore!”
“It’s for the revenge babe! I need all the information I can get!”
“It clearly looks like your enjoying yourself”
“I mean he’s funny-“
“Funnier than me?”
“No offence babe but his jokes make sense..?”
“That’s it. You plan your revenge then come and find me. Let's take a break from our relationship.”
“Ok.”
“Ok? That’s it?”
“I mean if that’s what you want then who am I to stop you?”
“You’re unbelievable.” Karina angrily shouted as she stormed out of Winter's house.
Karina collapsed on her couch the moment she arrived back at her house and she couldn’t believe how calm Winter had been about this whole situation. Maybe she had rushed too much. It was clear that Winter still had feelings for her ex and dating her wasn’t as serious for Winter as it was for her. Although it hurt her, Karina picked up her phone and typed three words that she dreaded but knew would be for the best.

Karina put her phone down and was already at the point of tears. She didn’t even want to see Winter's response. She already knew it would hurt. And she sat there on her couch crying her heart out. Months of hidden emotions suddenly surfaced and she couldn’t help but bring out all of the hints. Winter hadn’t ever been as committed as Karina and always sounded jealous when Karina told her she had texted Fallon. It all made sense now. She was just the best friend who was a temporary replacement for the boy Winter truly liked.
How she would explain this to everyone else would be a concern for future Karina, and all she wanted to do now was to sit there and cry. Winter hadn’t even bothered to visit her, showing how much she cared. Part of her wished for Winter to come and explain the misunderstanding but all she got was a text saying:
