“YOU DID WHAT? Winter you’re my best friend but what you did was unacceptable. When you came to ask for my help you told me about how you had liked her for years, but you just come and tell me she broke up with you because you couldn’t get over your old boy crush,” the red head screamed into the phone.
“Ning... I messed up didn’t I...”
“Then text her saying you didn’t mean it!”
“I- I told her I never liked her the way she liked me.”
“KIM MINJEONG YOU IDIOT.”
“I- please help me...”
“There’s nothing much you can do. You ruined her trust and broke her heart,” Aeri told her as she was with Ningning as Winter called her.
“There must be a way to get her back right! Please can you two help me?!!”
“Winter... First of all, do you really like her? Don’t get her back just to break her heart for a second time.”
“I promise I really like her! That was a small slip that I didn’t mean. She was mad at me for texting Fallon, then I got annoyed at her and I...”
“She has every right to be mad. She’s your girlfriend. And you're over here texting your ex? Do you still want revenge?”
“Of course I do.”
“Is it worth losing your girlfriend?”
“I can do both right?”
“Winter... the more time you drag on the worse this becomes”
“Bu-“
Winter was interrupted by a loud ping from her phone.
From Fallon:
|hey you talk to karina right?|
“Uhh Ning Fallon knows I talk to Karina...”
“That sounds like a you problem. Aeri and I are going to continue our date without your drama. Goodbye!” Ning responded while promptly hanging up.
Sighing, Winter replied.
|yeah. Why?”|
|she suddenly blocked me. Could you ask her why?|
|i don’t talk to her that much. Why do you care that she blocked you?|
|i just find her kinda cute and we were perfectly fine but she suddenly blocked me?|

As soon as Winter looked up from her phone she had tears in her eyes. She finally knew the truth. Fallon didn’t like her and never would. All this time he used her to get to Karina. The all perfect gem Karina. The Karina that had been by her side since childhood. The Karina that stuck by her side even when she was deserted and bullied. The Karina that liked her. The Karina who was now hurting because of her mistake. The Karina who she loved. This only made her sob harder. Not because of Fallon but because of karina. She lost the one person who made her happy in life. The one who she had leaned on the majority of her life.
Suddenly a knock on her door was heard. “Honey may I come in?”
It was her mom. Winter quickly wiped her tears and said “S-sure c-come in.” He shaky voice betrayed her as her mom immediately sensed something was wrong and was quick to comfort her.
“Hey baby what’s wrong?”
“I- I messed up ma.”
“Is this about Karina?”
“H-how did you know?”
“Both of you have been acting off. She had a hood on this morning. And headphones in. She only did that when her uncle died and she was depressed.”
“S-she d-did?” Winter muttered while sobbing even harder.
“Oh honey. What’s wrong?”
“I made a stupid decision and pushed her away. I hurt her for something so stupid!”
“Want me to call your sister?”
“W-why would you c-call her?”
“Because she has more experience in this. TAEYEON! COME HELP YOUR SISTER IS CRYING”
Heavy footsteps were heard as Taeyeon ran in and gave Winter a hug, quickly asking what was wrong. Their mother quietly shut the bedroom door and let the two girls talk. As Winter explained the whole situation to her sister, she felt a lot better. Her 18 year old sister was a great listener and helped her solve her problems, and together they created a master plan.
“Hey Karina! We baked some cookies and we were wondering if you wanted any? Winter has been sulking all day and told me to come so here I am!” Taeyeon rambled as Karina opened the door.
“I’m fine unnie thank you for offering. What happened to Winter?”
“So she does care about Winter,” Taeyeon thought before she responded to Karina. “Oh, she has just been rambling on about how she lost the person she loved the most and made a stupid decision.. I don’t even know. Mom walked in on her crying a few times.”
“Oh... tell her to get better soon then...”
“Why don’t you tell her that in person? Aren’t you two close friends?”
“Yeah but I'm not feeling too well these days. Wouldn’t want to make Winter sick as well!”
“Make sure you take care of yourself too, Karina.”
“I will unnie. Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!”
“You too Karina. If you ever need help remember we are always next door! I know your parents are barely home so don’t be afraid to ask.”
“Alright...see you around!” Karina waved with the rest of the energy she could muster.
As soon as Karina closed the door, Taeyeon sighed, obviously sensing that something was off. Karina had lost her usual spark and just wasn’t herself.
“Gosh Winter what have you done!” Taeyeon thought to herself. “You better fix this soon. I can’t stand seeing either of you like this!”
After she headed home she told Winter about the full interaction and that only made Winter burst into tears.
“I- I didn’t mean to hurt her! I just wasn’t thinking and...”
“I know I know Winter... let’s continue the plan and see what would happen next ok?”
Winter nodded and her sister continued, “Go get some rest, you have got some confessing and exposing to do tomorrow.”
The next day at school, Ning Ning couldn't help but notice her best friend being more jumpy and nervous than usual.
“Winter! Why are you so jumpy today?”
“Oh hi Ning! I’m just planning on confessing to Karina today! It’s just the nerves that’s all!”
“Your planning on what? Winter I don’t think that’s a very good idea...”
“I made a mistake and I’m going to fix it. I don’t care if she never wants to talk to me after. I have to do what’s right... I have to tell her the truth. But part of me also wants her to love me again...” Winter exclaimed, mumbling the last sentence.
“Winter, you're a grown person and I know you won’t listen even if I don’t agree. Just don’t mess up more than you already have,” Ningning sighed as she patted the older one on her head and walked off to find her girlfriend.
“Karinnaa can I please talk to you?” Winter approached while spotting the older girl. When she saw Karina hesitating, she flashed her biggest puppy eyes. “Pleaseeeee your puppy craves attention and needs to talk to their owner so please?”
“Puppies don’t talk Winter.”
“PLEASEEEEEEEE?”
“I find it funny that you're only okay with being my puppy after everything.”
“PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE!”
“Fine but make it quick, I need to get to class”
“OK SO I REALLY REALLY LIKE YOU AND I REGRET EVERYTHING!! I ALREADY HAVE A PLAN FOR REVENGE WHICH I WILL EXECUTE LATER TODAY SO DON’T SAY ANYTHING TILL AFTER BUT I JUST HAD TO TELL YOU. OK BYE!” Winter quickly shouted before running off, leaving a confused and stunned Karina.
“Hey Fallon,” Winter greeted when she saw him.
“About the whole Karina situation?” he quietly whispered when he saw the girl.
“Yes about the whole ‘using me to date another girl!’” Winter practically screamed.
“Winter! Keep it down! You said you would help me!”
“You dated me just to get close to another girl. Why would I help you?” she replied, not lowering her voice.
At this point rumours and murmurs were heard throughout the hallway as Fallon ran off and Karina suddenly appeared behind Winter and gave her a mini jump scare.
“Uhh Karina... hi?”
“Who’s Karina? My name’s Summer.”
Karina then left Winter standing there confused.
“Summer?” Winter thought as she made her way to her locker, bumping into Giselle by accident on the way.
“Hey Winter! Nice stunt you pulled earlier. Definitely put him in his place. Serves him right.”
“Thanks.. also do you know what Karina meant when she said her name was Summer?”
“Do you really not understand?” Giselle questioned. When she saw Winter shake her head she continued. “Didn’t you know you were so dense. Think about it. Winter, spring, summer, fall. We have Winter- you. You fell for Fallon- fall. So what’s left? Summer and spring. Idk what we're gonna do with spring but she chose summer so there. She still likes you but I guess you were too dense to notice.”
“WHY AM I SO DUMBBB. THANK YOU SO MUCH GISELLE!!!! BYEEE GOTTA GO FIND MY LOVER!!!”
Giselle chuckled as she watched Winter run off like an abandoned puppy trying to find their owner.
Winter was so excited that she sprinted right up to Karina’s house. As she became extremely nervous, she stopped right in front of Karina’s house, hesitating on whether or not she should knock. School had barely ended and Karina could still be at school and-
“Are you gonna keep staring at my door?” a voice from behind her interrupted her thoughts.
“Uhh... Summer?”
“It’s Karina now.
“So you don’t still like me?”
“Did you finally get the hint?”
“Uhhh no...? Giselle told me...”
Karina chuckled as she moved past Winter to open the door to her house. Winter couldn’t help but notice how hot Karina looked. You’ll never realize the importance of someone until they are gone – or however that quote goes.
“You coming in or not?” Karina called from inside, snapping winter back to reality.
“Oh uhh y-yea c-coming,” Winter replied while swiftly stepping inside and closing the door, afraid that Karina would change her mind and kick Winter back out.
“You have been saying ‘uhh’ a lot more recently. You good?”
“Perfectly not fine! Uhh I mean perfectly fine!”
“So fine or not fine?”
“Both???? Truth be told, I missed you so much.”
“You're not saying this cus Fallon used you to attempt to get me to notice him?”
“NO OF COURSE NOT! I LIKE YOU SO MUCH! I CANT EVEN FUNCTION WITHOUT YOU AROUND.”
“Ok you got your point across but could you stop shouting?”
“You believe me? You're not mad at me? I can’t be forgiven so easily! I hurt you! Please tell me this is a prank and just tell me how I can change!”
“Winter. You're ranting and overthinking so much. I already know how much you like me. Your whole family showed up on my front porch this morning and gave me a run through of how much you like me because apparently you can’t do so yourself.”
“Ok ok good that you understa- WAIT WHAT. THOSE TRAITORS!”
“Winter, chill please. You're going to break Ddong-ie’s eardrums!”
“Who’s that?”
“Ningning’s pet gecko!!! I have been taking care of him for a couple days and he’s the most adorable thing!”
“Why. Just why.”
“Ever since you told me about her pet it always seemed cool, so I reached out and asked her and she let me take care of him for a week!! Isn’t she so nice and cool! Giselle really hit the jackpot!”
This only made Winter quiet. Could that have been a hint for her to ask Karina to be her girlfriend? Karina has been acting like nothing was wrong, but what if she deeply despised the younger and wasn’t showing it? What if she gets rejected and she was only acting nice because she’s that type of person and doesn’t like to make enemies? What if-
“What are you thinking about?” Karina asked, obviously being able to read Winter's facial expressions.
“Nothing really...”
“I have known you since you were like 11. Don’t even try to lie to me. You have been acting off ever since you entered my house. What’s wrong?”
“I- uhhh listen uhh... KARINA WILL YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND AGAIN??? I PROMISE I'LL TREAT YOU RIGHT THIS TIME AND I-”
And for the second time, she was cut off by a kiss.
“You gotta stop rambling babe.”
“Babe- so that’s a yes?”
“If it wasn’t would I call you babe and kiss you?”
“YAYYYYY I PROMISE I'LL TREAT YOU RIGHT AND BE THE BEST GIRLFRIEND EVER!”
“Okok now please stop shouting?”
“Yep sorry babe. I’m just too excited!”
“I can tell...”
And so the two girls rekindled their relationship and what they felt was nothing short of true love. If anything and if possible, it was even more than true love.
