Work Text:

" I bite my tongue, that's a bad habit. "

Diluc would never admit that he never really hated Kaeya. He loved Kaeya. That was his younger brother. He would adore him until the day he died. After all, that's the last family member he has left. Despite not being blood related. Diluc had a funny way of showing whether or not he genuinely cared for Kaeya.

He'd kick him out the Winery. He'd call him insults. He'd yell at him. He'd even glare at him from afar if he saw fit. Not that Kaeya minded. He always seemed to ignore it. That, or he just got used to his brothers hatred long enough to stop caring altogether. Jean would always scold Diluc for being rude to Kaeya, and he'd always feel bad about it, but he never does anything about it. He feels as though he bit the bullet a long time ago with his relationship with his brother.

Kaeya feels like Diluc simply doesn't care. Even so, he continues showing up at the Winery, telling his witty jokes, saying sassy remarks that always manage to make Diluc mentally smile. The man might not crack an actual smile, but that doesn't mean he doesn't. Even if it's very subtle. Though, one day, Kaeya decides to make it a reality, wanting to see Dilucs' smile just one more time. So in order to convince him to smile, he'd have to trick him. Of course, Diluc hesitates.

"Did you know..you can't feel your tongue when you smile?" Kaeya blurts out, taking a sip from his drink as Diluc casually cleans a glass before putting it up. He glances back at Kaeya, narrowing his eyes at him before Kaeya gave a shrug. He wasn't aware that Diluc was actually going to try it. The redhead smiles, his dimples on each sides of his cheeks being shown as well as his cheeks growing a faint red after he hears Kaeya burst out into a fit of bubbly laughter. This only causes him to punch him in his shoulder.

"Oh my god Kaeya, Immature even at this age-"

"You should smile more, you look just like Dad when you do." Kaeya chuckles a bit, not acknowledging the shocked expression imprinting itself onto Dilucs' face as he finishes his drink. The silence falling into familiarity. One that Kaeya recognizes back from when the two of them were younger.

Even if it was for a brief moment.
