Work Text:

She came to this ball with a glow of happiness in her eyes. Looking at her, it's difficult to believe she is the Minister of War. Her purple dress was like waves and her hair was gathered in two braids. She was beautiful as ever, with her deep green eyes and long eyelashes, as well as her soft smile.

As soon as she entered the grand palace hall, there were cheers and applause coming from all around them. Her smile became wider as she felt so proud of herself. After all, she had done so much for the people, and now she gets some recognition, and that is what mattered the most to her.

The party began, with lots of dancing and drinking, as everybody got their fair share of food and drink. She could see how happy everyone was, and her own mood rose up to match theirs. She felt her cheeks warm up whenever someone looked at her in admiration or even flirting, but she couldn't let slip of the fact that everyone seemed so pleased. It made her feel so special and appreciated, and the more times they smiled at her, the happier she became.

After the first dance, she decided to take a break before joining a couple of young women who were having fun dancing with each other. She found a corner where the music wasn't as loud and enjoyed watching everyone enjoy themselves. She had no idea why everyone loved such big parties and all these fancy clothes and fancy decorations. But she understood their point of view, so she didn't think twice about it. She took the chance of taking off her heels. Her legs ached from dancing for hours, and sat down on one of the stools in the room.

Her head lifted as soon as she heard someone approaching her.

The young man greeted himself and said she was called to the balcony to deal with a problem of some sort. The way he talked made her think something bad must have happened. However, she simply agreed and walked towards it.

She put on her coat and headed out on the balcony, and the royal family told people at the ball.

"She will show her strength to the unruly!"

Soon, the sound of water echoed outside, and it felt like the building was swaying.

The guests were initially scared, but soon calmed down when they were told that she had dealt with the protesters, and they continued to enjoy the night.

She soon returned to the building, but she looked off.

Her eyes were empty and bulging, her braids were loose, and here she was wet from head to toe. Her breathing was ragged and shallow, and she was shaking so badly she could hear her bones crackle.

It was as if she was swaying and floating on water, while her eyes were focused in front of her.

As she walked slowly towards the middle of the hall, water began covering the floor.

She kept moving, walking over the floor with an eerie calmness, which gave a terrifying air to the whole event.

As water flowed across the flooring, people started grumbling about how she dared to ruin their dresses.

"Doesn't she have a job to do?!"

"She leaves traces of water and dirt all over the floor."

"She will ruin my wonderful dress."

"What does she think she's doing?"

Then one of the guests giggled.

"He-he, she looks so pathetic when she's wet."

The laughter was contagious, and soon it spread. They thought she looked "as bad as the masses on the streets" and "didn't belong here."

Some of them even commented on the fact that she was wearing "furs in mud." Others just shook their heads, thinking that the girl had no respect for anyone and everything around her.

"Don't underestimate me" her voice was weak, but it carried a threatening tone.

She took another step forward, her eyes burning with anger.

"You will learn to be afraid of me"

All the lights in the building blew out, causing everyone to fall silent. The only light that illuminated the place was the moonlight shining through the window, casting shadows over everything.

The sound of broken glass was heard. The windows started cracking on their own, like they had been smashed by invisible hands.

The quests tried running out of the building, screaming loudly. As they tried, the doors slammed shut, preventing them from escaping.

The noise of the broken chain is heard, and the chandelier fell on the floor with a bang. Everyone stopped running once they realized none of them would be able to escape from the palace, not without using the main entrance.

They could hear the sounds of a woman laughing. Her glowing eyes were the only light source, illuminating the surrounding darkness.

The wind started blowing in the building, not from the broken windows, but from her.

She stood in the middle of the broken glass covered floor. Her dress looked almost as black as the night sky, and she was dripping wet.

She held her palms forward, creating huge waves of water, which then formed into giant snakes, making all the guests scream louder than ever.

"It looks like your party is over," she stated, her cold tone chilling the room.

Suddenly, the doors swung open by themselves as flood waters poured in from all sides of the room, covering the floors and walls.

When the flood waters reached her, they didn't even touch her and flowed around her like nothing.

She stood still and watched as the guests screamed and yelled in fear and panic. Many tried escaping, trying to use the only door that led to the exit, but it closed as quickly as possible.

She raised her arms, making wave after wave hit everyone, causing them to drown.

When everyone was soaked, she let out one last laugh before leaving, leaving behind a mess of broken glass and dead bodies.

She didn't look back because there was no need for her to do so, the path was already clear enough for her.

Floating, she left the building, closing the doors behind her without looking back.
