Skill Tree for the Cunnmeister!

Summary:

Not actually a story; just a custom Cuno skillset I created a while back. People always seem to be making sets for our dear Kimothy, so I thought I’d give the OTHER best detective a shot. Three skills per base, twelve total.

Work Text:

INTELLECT

BOOKSMARTS

You’re an A-Student, Cuno! It’s on your report card, Cuno!

This one’s like Encyclopedia, but a lot more uncertain than Encyclopedia would ever speak. Accounts for the professional, academic, boring parts of information. I think all the other skills hate this guy.

SILVERTONGUE

Strike those deals, Cuno! Con them good, Cuno!

Okay this one is actually awesome trust me. I did name it after Lyra from His Dark Materials, whaddya gonna do about it, beat me up? This is a little like Drama, but puts on more of a businessman-… used-car-salesman-type facade than whatever Drama’s doing. This is the part that sold you the FALN pants. Doesn’t always have the greatest ideas, but that goes without saying.

JIGSAW

We know all this, Cuno! Just connect the goddamn dots, Cuno!

A little bit of Logic and a little bit of Visual Calculus. Helps the Cunnmeister connect the information that he gets through Booksmarts and Hearsay. The detective part of his brain!

PSYCHE

MUSH-CENTRE

We’re all human, Cuno! It’s the power of friendship, Cuno!

Listen… the Cunn can read emotions just as good as any sod. This is just the part that makes him feel bad for ‘em! I imagine all the other skills bully this one all the time. Perhaps when Cuno gets more in touch with himself this skill gets a less negative name? Who knows.

GRANDEUR

Night City is just on the horizon, Cuno! You’re an artist, Cuno!

Like Inland Empire and Conceptualization! A’course, Cuno’s still young, so those two aren’t as separate as they are in the detective’s mind. If I were playing as Cuno, I’d dump all my points into this. Also a little responsible for his king complex.

FORESIGHT

You’ve seen this before, Cuno! You know how this is gonna end, Cuno!

The Cuno can’t predict the future, but he can get pretty damn close. Lets Cuno know when he might wanna skidaddle, or perhaps if he should stick around.

PHYSIQUE

FIGHT N’ FLIGHT

They’re gonna hit you, Cuno! Raise your hackles, Cuno!

Like Half-Light, but a little more primal, if you can believe it. Very proud of this one, though I’m not sure why. It’s cool. Tells Cuno to bite people.

HEARSAY

You know a guy who knows a guy, Cuno! He’s down the other block right now! Cuno!

Shivers for das kinders. Your father had a man over who told a story about a woman just like the one you’re speaking to. Cuno knows which way the wind is blowing.

THRILLS

Ride the lightning, Cuno! Metaphorically, too, Cuno!

Cuno’s a recovering speed addict, so obviously he’s got an Electrochemistry wing- but he’s also twelve damn years old, which means: A sweet tooth! A zest for life! A disregard for age restrictions in the name of jam-diggity action flicks!

MOTORICS

POMP

Straighten your back, Cuno! Perps don’t listen to chumps, Cuno!

Sometimes keeping yourself above water means pretending to be something you’re not. Like a functional member of society. Project gentile etiquette, manifest some decorum. Big friends with Silvertongue.

STEALTH

Slip between the cracks, Cuno! Blend in with the scenery, Cuno!

It was pretty interesting to me that Disco Elysium never really had a “stealth” skill, save for a few Savoir Faire checks. Cops don’t really need to be discreet. Street urchins, however, need all the invisibility they can get. Part of it comes with being short and light, obviously, but you can’t go wrong with investing a few skill points in The Sneaking Initiative. We’ve got you covered, kid.

SENSES

Check out that bird, Cuno! And that wicked stench, Cuno!

Basically just Perception, with the added (TOUCH) subskill, since Cuno doesn’t have Interfacing. What else am I supposed to say about it? It’s important for narration? I’m not your mother. Come to your own conclusions.
