Korra and Asami were walking with Naga through…Avatar…Korra…Park, the irony was not lost on Korra. But they took the day to let Naga let off some energy. A heat wave recently passed through the city, and they kept themselves in the mansion for the past few days. So, they took the sudden dip in the temperature for the chance to let Naga run free to her heart’s desire.
The girls walked blissfully together, holding hands, slightly swinging them from time to time. Korra’s cheeks were flushed slightly, public displays of affection were still a bit foreign to her. Her timidness taken over, her focus was just the path directly in front of her, and not taking in the sights around her.
Beside her, Asami did the exact opposite. She wore a giant smile as she looked around the park that she helped redesign. She felt tremendous pride every time she looked at the statue she personally had a hand in making. Her eyes caught sight of a stand-up ice cream station. Normally she’d just pass by, but they had a sign advertising that they have a “new” doggy ice cream. Asami was immediately intrigued. She nudged Korra to get her attention, and Korra looked at her. She pointed her head towards the ice cream stand.
“You want some ice cream?” Korra asked with a small smile on her lips.
“I mean, only if you want one, but look at the sign. They make ice cream for dogs! We should get one for Naga.”
“That sounds great. And…I actually do want some ice cream, if you don’t mind.” Korra sheepishly admitted.
“Of course I don’t mind. I’d love to share dessert with you.”
Korra called for Naga, and the giant polar bear dog ran directly towards them. She circled playfully around the couple as they approached the stand.
“Hold on, Naga, we’re getting something special for you!” Korra messed with Naga’s fur.
Asami placed their order, along with Naga’s special treat. She waited patiently for their desserts before calling Korra over. The cashier handed Asami the two cones for herself and Korra and then she got the one for Naga. She slowly and cautiously extended her arm towards the giant animal, clearly afraid of getting her arm bitten off.
“Korra, can you grab that for her, please?”
“Oh. I’m sorry.” She took it from the poor girl and turned to face her lifelong friend. “Okay, Naga! Open up! This is for you! It’s gooood!”
Naga opened her mouth wide and Korra tossed the ice cream cone into her mouth. With a quick crunch, it was gone. It took a second before Naga reacted, she whined and wagged her tail energetically. She barked in happiness and Korra and Asami laughed. Korra gave Asami a knowing smile and Asami nodded back.
Asami turned back to the cashier, “Can we have two more doggy cones? I don’t think one was enough for her.”
