Work Text:

Serim watches with a smile as Allen walks back into frame with a large box in his arms. It almost looks like the box is bigger than him.

“You okay there, babe?” Serim asks, and you could practically hear the grin on his face. Allen huffs, placing the box down onto his bed.

“I’m fine, thank you. You’re not the only one who goes to the gym, you know,” he retorts, half jokingly. Serim lets out a laugh, and the noise alone makes Allen’s heart sing.

“I know, I was messing with you! I’m sure I, of all people, would know you work out, especially considering that, well, I’ve seen your body,” Serim teases.

Allen decides to ignore that comment, because he feels like he would lose his mind if he thought about it any more. He clears his throat. “Ha, yeah… Anyway, should I open the box now?”

Serim nods eagerly, moving his face ever so slightly closer to his screen. “Ooh, yes!”

Allen chuckles. “Okay! Wait, let me get scissors,” he moves out of view, runs to his desk, and returns with scissors in his hand. He gives Serim a smile. “Okay, ready?”

Serim smiles back softly. “Go for it, baby.”

Very carefully, as to not harm anything that was inside, Allen uses his scissors to cut through the tape on the box. Serim watches with bated breath as Allen begins opening the box up.

“Okay, wait, I’m not gonna look,” he says, reaching his hands inside. The first thing he feels is soft fabric. He gasps. “Is this a hoodie?”

“Maybe.”

Allen pulls the material out, and sure enough, it’s one of Serim’s hoodies. His eyes widen. “Oh my god, no wonder I saw you wearing this one a lot last month!”

Serim laughs. “I wanted to do the sterotypical boyfriend thing! You know, giving you a hoodie that smells like me.” His expression changes into one of pure adoration when he sees Allen burying his nose into it. “Do you like it?”

“I love it,” Allen replies, albeit slightly muffled. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, but there’s still more stuff in there, babe.”

“I know! Just let me have my moment with this,” Allen whines.

“Okay, okay! But you know what would be cute? If you put the hoodie on.”

Allen chuckles. “What, so you can get a kick out of seeing how big it looks on me?”

Serim shrugs. “Maybe.”

“Fine…” Allen practically groans, as if it was an inconvenience to him, but in reality he was thrilled. He pulled the hoodie over his torso, and he saw Serim’s eyes soften immediately. “Does it suit me?”

Serim takes a moment to reply, because at first he forgets how to speak. “You… It looks amazing on you.” He manages to say. Allen’s cheeks begin to burn.

“Shut up…” Allen mumbles back, reaching back into the box. The next thing he feels is soft plush material. “Huh? Is this a plushie?”

As he guessed, Allen is holding a small pig plushie in his hands. Serim giggles. “He’s cute, right?”

“Very cute. He reminds me of you, in a way.” Allen smiles at Serim, and hugs the plushie to his chest. “He can go with my penguins,” he proudly announces.

“That was the goal!” Serim excitedly replies.

Allen pats the plushie on the head, gives it a small kiss and placed it out of frame closer to his pillows. “I kissed it because I wish I could kiss you right now, but I can’t,” he says with a pout.

Serim coos. “I know, I wish I could kiss you too. Maybe soon…?”

Allen freezes. “What does that mean?”

Serim shrugs. “Does everything I say need to mean something?“ Allen raises an eyebrow. “Look, just keep going through the box. There’s more in there.” Serim continues.

Allen isn’t convinced, but he still does what Serim says and reaches back in. He grabs what feels and sounds like a plastic bag. “Hm… are these chips?”

“Not just any chips. Your favourite chips, that you can’t get in America.”

“Oh my god, babe! I’m gonna eat these so fast it’s gonna be crazy.” Allen says with a laugh. “Okay, is that everything?”

Serim shakes his head. “There’s one more thing. Right at the bottom.”

“Oh?” Allen looks into the box, and sees an envelope. “A letter?”

“Not quite. Just open it.”

Allen carefully rips the envelope open, and pulls out a neatly folded note.

To my lovely Leoni,

Here’s something for you to look at when you miss me~

- Selm <3

Allen places the note down, and digs back into the envelope. He isn’t quite sure what he’s touching, so he pulls them out. His jaw drops open, and his eyes immediately begin to well up with tears. “You took polaroids for me?”

Serim nods. He was trying his hardest not to, but he can’t help but get choked up too. “Yeah… you like them?”

Allen’s hands are shaking slightly by now, but he looks intently at the pictures in his hand. Serim is posing cutely in all of them, even kissing a penguin plushie in one. “I love them. And I love you.” He says, with a watery smile.

“I love you too. I’m so glad you like them.” Serim replies, wiping his tears with his hand.

“I need to get a clear phone case, so I can put one of these into it.” Allen comments, still staring at one of the pictures.

Serim lets out a laugh. “Are you gonna show me off?”

Allen chuckles. “I already do that. But yes.”

Serim grins, leaning closer to the screen. “Next time I see you, we should take some polaroids together. Or at the very least, you should get a camera so you can send some to me. Hint, hint.”

Allen shakes his head. He can’t believe he fell in love with this goofball, but at the same time he can’t imagine his life right now without him. “I’ll get a camera, so I can take some polaroids for you and we can take some together when you’re next here. Deal?”

Serim grins. “Deal.”

Allen lets out a heavy sigh. “Thank you so much for everything, babe. I don’t deserve you.”

“Actually, I don’t deserve you.” Serim practically corrects.

Allen rolls his eyes. “Why can you never let me have a moment?”

“Because… I always want you to know that you’re loved.”

“God, shut up, you’re gonna make me cry again.” Allen grumbles. His tears had just dried up, and Serim was about to set him off all over again.

“Sorry, sorry,” Serim laughs, “I just adore you. And I miss you like crazy. As soon as I can afford it, I’ll be on the first plane to LA.”

“Promise?” Allen asks, a pout on his lips. He holds out his pinky to the screen. Serim does the same, locking in their virtual pinky promise.

“I promise, Leoni. ”
