Dissociation

Summary:

In a dank, condemned building in Gotham City where Harleen Quinzel—former licensed psychiatrist and bad guy—lives, Harley is just about to indulge in a night of passion with a vigilante do-gooder lover of hers, until things seem to go bad for him and she has to put her old psychiatrist skills to use!

Notes:

Gloria M. Wayne (Bruce's fourth oldest and the recently re-branded vigilante known as "Defiance") is in his mid-twenties; he gotten into a relationship with Harley suddenly, and to his surprise, he didn't hate it. The two aren't a couple by any means (he doesn't "do romance") but they aren't not a couple either.

Characteristics

Gender: Transgender man

Age: 25

DOB: 12/11/1978

Appearance: Gloria is 5’5” ft tall and is fit and muscular. He has short, fluffy dark brown hair and black-brown eyes.

Vigilante Costume: Defiance’s outfit is comprised of: A black cowl with red accents, a black domino-mask underneath, a charcoal gray shirt (made of thick material, reinforced with a special bullet and slash-proof material; still retains the crimson-colored bird insignia across the chest from his old Corvid uniform) , charcoal gray pants (borders on cargo-short bagginess; reinforced with aforementioned special material close to the skin) with vertical crimson stripes down either leg, a black utility belt (comprised of useful tools and weapons, though not as expansive as Bruce’s) , short well-grip gloves (black with crimson trim) , and black lightweight climbing boots.

Personality: Gloria is a fairly easygoing, phlegmatic guy. He rarely, if ever, finds reason to fight outside of vigilante work, and if he can, he tries to stay out of anyone’s personal business unless there’s a clear reason for him to butt-in. Gloria’s got a deep-seated insecurity about being a lesser vigilante in comparison to the rest of his family due to his frequent inability to remember important mission intel and because of how he took longer to train than any of his siblings. There’s also his medical issues that sometimes get in the way of his vigilante work, making him feel useless on more than one occasion. But nevertheless, he continues to fight for the helpless and to assure that Gotham is safe while under his watch. In the same vein, Gloria is fiercely protective of his loved ones, and often worries himself over their safety when he's not around them, more often than not managing to underestimate their abilities.

In his public-life, Gloria Wayne can be described as an attention-hog and even vain, though at the same time he somehow also manages to be elusive and shy. In his private life, Gloria's incredibly open with hardly any filter on what he says.

Gloria occasionally wonders if he toes the line between hero and villain not because of his work, but because of who he often finds himself in the company of, as he’s had personal relationships with villains in the past, often leading to him more than once failing to take someone into custody when they should’ve been due to letting personal history and emotions get in the way. Because of this, he still finds himself in bed with “the bad guy” every once in a while, worrying if it’s rubbing off on him some nights.

Miscellaneous

Bio: Prior to his life as a good-guy, Gloria was Selina Kyle’s sidekick, aptly named “Kitten”. Gloria was later taken in by Bruce Wayne at the age of 14. He was caught in the cross-fires of a fight between Catwoman (his now-former mentor) and Batman. After the fight was over and before Bruce could take Selina into custody, she told Bruce not to turn in Gloria as an accomplice, and to act like he was never an accessory to her crimes to begin with.

Naturally, Bruce wouldn’t want a kid going to juvy all because he got roped into a life of crime. He asked Gloria if he had any family or anywhere to go, and when Gloria simply told him Selina was all he had, Bruce invited Gloria to stay with his family for a while. Eventually, Gloria reformed from his brief stint as a villain and was adopted by Bruce, soon becoming a vigilante-in-training known simply as “[the] Fledgling”. Later, around the age of 19, Gloria would rebrand himself simply as “Corvid”, once more rebranding himself as “Defiance” at age 25.

Trivia:

  • Gloria began testosterone treatments when he was 18 years old, getting top-surgery at 19 years old.
  • Gloria kept his birth-name, seeing no reason to change it while transitioning.
  • Gloria has repeated childhood trauma and OSDD-1b as result. He's an alter and the host of his system.
  • Gloria's current Defiance costume is currently mostly comprised of old parts of his Corvid uniform sans sailcloth cape, with the addition of the cowl, new gloves, and new boots.
  • One of Gloria's favorite tools in his utility belt are the bolas.
  • Unlike Dick and Jason, Gloria has no primary weapon he uses to fight with, instead preferring hand-to-hand combat.
