Chapter Text

A cloudy sky filled with rain is what greeted them into their first venture into the human realm. They all thought that this occasion would be special, or at least voluntary, but they unfortunately thought wrong.

Luz, Amity, Gus, Hunter and Willow landed in front of the old, broken-down shack as a bundle of emotions and worries fell within them. They had no way of telling if their families were okay, or if they were even alive. Gus collapsed to the floor in a bawling heap as Luz stood at the empty doorframe, stunned.

No words were spoken within the group as they travelled towards Luz's house after a decision was made of what they should do next. Amity clutched Luz's hand as they were walking, and she squeezed it back for comfort, but they never shared any glances. The group were still processing the events which had taken place in the hours, minutes and even seconds prior. Gus's body was shaken from sobbing; his legs shivering with every sullen step, which made him distracted on what would've been extremely interesting sights for him, considering his many interests with the human realm and its many attributes.

As it was the evening, most if not all of the citizens of Luz's street were inside their homes, either doing something with their families or asleep, so did not witness what would've been a strange sight of a group of people who definitely weren't humans being lead by Luz down the stone pavement, scars and other injuries covering their bodies.

After what seemed like a millennia, the group of 5 made it to the house. The familiar sight brought a slight warmth to the group, especially Luz. The memories which took place in this house were flooding back to her, and it made her realise how much she had missed it. Seeing her mum every day after school, greeting her with a warm hug and a new story to tell from her day at the veterinary; the feeling of arriving here was usually nice. But today was different. Luz was, although happy to be home, filled with dread, not only for her family figures back in the Boiling Isles, but also for how her mother would react. She knew that she would definitely take them in, Luz knew she wasn't the type of person to just leave them to fend for themselves. However, she had no way of predicting what would happen after that. Considering what happened on her last 'visit', she wasn't sure her mum would let her go back, even without knowing what had just happened there. There was no way she wouldn't want an explanation of all of their small scars and bruises however, so Luz would have to tell her what happened, regardless how much she would try to put it off.

Soon enough, they made it to infront of the porch. Luz stepped forward infront of the others, letting go of Amity's hand and taking a deep breath, before knocking on the wooden door.

Camila was busy cooking on top of the grill when she heard a knock at her door. She put the metal spoon down. Vee looked up at her after hearing the noise, and Camila explained that she was going to go and answer the door. Vee nodded, and soon went back to what she was doing prior.

Walking to the door, she couldn't help but hope that it was her daughter at the door, but she knew that was an extremely low possibility. Camila knew more about where her daughter had been living for these past months from Vee telling her countless stories about what it was like. It did sound slightly dangerous, even downright gory at times, but despite all of that, she knew her daughter. She knew how brave and courageous she could be when she put her mind to it. Even though she was a little worried about her wellbeing (who wouldn't?), she knew that no matter what, Luz would rise to whatever challenges that world would bring to her, even if it was in a slightly different way somebody else would.

Camila opened the wooden door, preparing herself for whoever would be there, but what she saw she could never be ready for.

"Hey Mom, I'm back!"
