Tsukasa was crying. Crying tears that sparkled with the glitter of the sky.
Star Tears was the diagnosis. Truth was, you didn’t need a doctor to see that.
Now there Tsukasa was. Sitting on a swing by himself while all his memories fade away. He had gotten star tears a while ago. Hiding it away for the sake of everyone. He didn’t want to make them worried.
Worried until now of course. He had told the younger girl with pink tips that lived with him (what was her name again?) that he was going on a walk. The pink girl waved goodbye yet he noticed that her smile did not reach her eyes.
Tsukasa looked up at the sky and his eyes closed shut. He reminisces on the only person he remembered anymore
Kamishiro Rui.
He had stray but strong bold thoughts of a boy with light blue and dark blue hair, the same pink tipped hair girl, a bright and lively pink haired girl, and a quiet grey haired girl.
But none could top him. The boy whose eyes shined bright when he was content. Whose personality made him smile bigger than anything (besides that pink tipped girl of course! for some…reason…) The boy who would always listen to his annoying rambles and had a cheerful demeanor.
He knew that Rui would never return his feelings. After seeing Rui’s eyes shine brighter with the grey haired girl, he soon realized that to Rui, he doesn't mean as much as the girl. And to that, Tsukasa kept his feelings from his blissfully oblivious friends.
The only people who really knew were…were the pink tips and two blue hair. They…Wait..did they know?
Tsukasa opened his eyes only to find nothing. Just pitch black. He rubbed his eyes but yet nothing came. Nothing came besides tears. Big stars that fell. He could feel his tears become fragile pointy stars.
How can Cupid?
How can you be so cruel?
His stars started falling down more and more. Tsukasa took his hands and clawed his hair while he sobbed stars. He couldn’t see, he would lose his memories of everyone and he would forget Rui which was the equivalent of dying.
But at the same time, he was happy. His group would have a better member or they could just be better off without him. Rui would be happy with his crush. He guessed that the blue haired boy and the pink tipped girl were his siblings and considering them, they would probably be happier without him. Without his self pity, without his obnoxious personality and his narcissistic self. It would just be another chore that would be gone.
He would be forgotten.
He would forget.
An eye for an eye.
“Rui Rui! Let me see you please calm down!” Kaito shouted out from the phone
“No no no…” Rui pulled out his phone and tapped the screen to show a hologram of Kaito as he speed walked through the neighborhood near Tsukasa’s place.
Rui was trying to find Tsukasa. Saki had called everyone she knew to find him. When everyone appeared in the Tenma’s living room, she was bawling her eyes out while calling Tsukasa’s phone continuously.
“Guy! Please! Please! He….he just…he just disappeared! He said he was going to walk but…but… he hasn’t been home since 3:00!”
Shiho patted her back while everyone else looked worried.
Vivid Bad Squad was there after Saki called Toya in the cafe and screamed at him if he was with Tsukasa
Leo/Need was there after Saki had called everyone and nearly all of them ran over each other as they thought Saki was hurt after not understanding her sobbing words
Wonderlands x Showtime was there for she had called if Tsukasa was practicing with them
“Why don’t we…why don’t we separate and search throughout the neighborhood o-or places where Tsukasa-senpai went?” Toya said out loud. He was the one who was the most smooth with his words when they were children. So they all knew it was bad if Toya was stuttering.
Everyone agreed and split up into different sections, all of them in a group chat in case.
Rui had explained the story to Kaito while he frantically searched.
“I-I don’t understand! He w-would tell us if he went somewhere else right?! He-he didn’t get kidnapped right? That’s my job first!”
“Rui! Calm down! You can’t look for him if you’re panicking!”
“H-how can?” Rui took a deep breath and exhaled. He stopped near a spotlight and looked at Kaito’s hologram. “How can he just disappear like that…”
“Rui…I should tell you something…”
“Huh?”
“A few days ago, Tsukasa came in and bumped into a lot of the plushies and almost bumped into Luka when she was sleeping. When we asked why he wasn’t looking where he was going he said that…”
“Said what Kaito” he asked desperately
“He said that he doesn’t know why WE aren’t. He said it was all blurry and dark in the Sekai… it was bright and clear Rui.”
“Does he have a-a disease?”
“Not…not quite…” Kaito’s voice quieted towards the end.
“PLEASE!” Rui then calmed down as he would look stupid if he was yelling at a phone.
“Tsukasa has star tears,Rui. He’s…he’s in love with someone who loves someone else.”
“W-what? But that’s fictional…right? That’s just a ancient story. It has to be!”
“Well, we’re just Vocaloids on youtube right Rui?”
“I….” Rui couldn’t make out the words
“Who does he love, Kaito…I gotta make them t-talk.”
“Rui…
He loves you.”
“Wh-what?”
“Rui he loves you.”
Rui stayed silent for a moment. The usually witty trickster had his gears stop for a second and-
“Tsukasa loves me?” He says hesitating
“Yeah. He really does” Kaito’s frown turns into a warm smile. It turned cold once more
“Rui, he’s in trouble. A lot of trouble.”
“Yeah I know but-“ Rui then suddenly sees warm yellow and purple stars on the ground when he turns the corner
As a curious cat would, he picked up the two colored stars that glowed in his hand
“Kaito…do you think..” He looked at the hologram with mixed emotions
“Nobody has a purple and yellow pallet like you Rui. Go for it, I’m cheering for you to get him home safe and sound and…to confess.”
“W-what?!”
“I’ve noticed that you light up at Tsukasa’s voice everytime Rui. Go for it!” Kaito smiles at him
“I…I got it! Hey wait I don’t love anyone else though. Why would he think that?”
“Perhaps his point of view is much more different than yours Rui. But all I ask is that you speak to him. Ok?”
“Y-yeah. Bye Kaito and thank you very much!”
“Good luck Rui!” Kaito waves and warmly smiles at Rui
As soon as the hologram disappears, Rui shoves his phone in his pocket and follows the stars.
The stars inevitably lead to the park.
Rui looks up and sees the boy on the swings, he runs over quickly almost tripping on his shoelaces.
“Tsukasa! Are you ok?! You’re not hurt right?”
Tsukasa didn’t respond
“Tsukasa?” He placed his hands on his shoulder
Tsukasa looked straight up but yet didn’t open his eyes
“H-huh?” His voice was shaky and raspy
“Please open your eyes Tsukasa, I’m here, just please…”
Tsukasa opens his eyes yet he sees nothing
Rui almost gasps but he doesn’t want to frighten Tsukasa so his mouth gapes slightly.
The eyes that Rui fell in love with, the honey yellow eyes that shone brighter than the brightest star in the universe, that twinkled everyday. They were now grey and dull. It seemed like his hair was dull as well being a more pale yellow. He should’ve noticed, the last practice they had together Tsukasa would be seen practicing poses with closed eyes or averting his eyes from the other members.
Damn it. He should’ve known too.
“I..Im hallucinating. He’s not here…” Tsukasa glances down again
Rui kneels down to his face and gently lifts his chin up
“I’m right here my star. Please just believe me.”
“But I can’t see you.” Tsukasa whimpers
Rui takes both of Tsukasa’s hands and holds them.
“Believe me now my star?”
“I…”
“Tsukasa..why didn’t you tell me? I would have been happy if you did…”
“Y-you we’re always with…with that grey haired girl and your e-eyes…they wouldn’t sparkle with me like they did with that girl…besides it’s weird liking boys. It’s not fit for a star…that’s what some people tell me. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry…you sound so sad but I can’t remember what your name is. I remember I-I love you but…I can’t remember anyone’s names….I remember you though…” Tsukasa whispers with stars falling out of his eyes
Rui cries at that. Silent tears cascade down his cheeks.
“My star…”
“I remember your bright yellow eyes. It was the only color I could see for a while. They were really pretty. I remember that you had a lot of energy and you worked hard. I…I remember that we laughed together a lot. I-I’m so sorry…I can’t remember…” Tsukasa sobs out the last few words
“Tsukasa…please don’t apologize…It’s not your fault. I…no we all should have known better. I saw your eyes once you know. A few days ago, you just lost your spark or something and I thought my star only had a bad day. I’m so sorry Kasa.”
Rui then cups Tsukasa’s cheeks
“I wish I would’ve told you”
“I love you.”
Tsukasa then puts his hands on Rui’s.
“W…what? Y-you love me?”
“I do my star. I do. And I’m so sorry for not picking up on your feelings. My feelings for Nene are strictly platonic…whenever I talk with her about you my star, she says that I talk about you too much. Her feelings are for another person. I..I promise.” Rui wipes away Tsukasa’s stars
“You’re the brightest star to me. Brighter than anything and anyone.” Rui whispers
“…I am?”
Rui nods but he realizes that Tsukasa can’t see and just presses his forehead against Tsukasa’s
A twinkle is heard instead of the soft glass dropping sound
“Rui?”
The stars in Tsukasa’s eyes turn into a soft liquid that Rui wipes away gently
“My star?”
Tsukasa looks straight at Rui’s eyes, blinking away tears. Tsukasa rubs his eyes and soon the grey and dullness of his eyes turns brighter and soon enough, the lively yellow that Rui missed was back
Tsukasa Tenma, his favorite star in the whole system was back
“Rui!” Tsukasa sobs out happily
“Kasa? A-are you- do you remember?”
“Yes yes!” he hiccups out “Of course I remember Rui!”
Rui and Tsukasa stay in that position crying happily together.
Tsukasa hugs Rui so tightly that Rui almost losss his breath. Maybe that could have been how breathtaking Tsukasa’s colors were. He couldn’t care less. Tsukasa was in his arms, that was all he wanted.
“Do you..really love me Rui? Even though I’m loud and obnoxious?”
Rui kisses Tsukasa’s head
“Of course I do my star.”
“Then, would you..would you like to go out with me?”
“I’d be honored Tsukasa.”
Tsukasa smiles and that was the whole world to Rui.
“Rui can I..”
Tsukasa closes his eyes moves towards his lips
“Fufufu~ How lovely of my star to take initiative!”
Rui closes his eyes and moves towards Tsukasa
Their lips connect and it’s like a puzzle that finally found it’s missing piece.
Soulmates that have found their other half.
Once they pull apart, it seems like time has stopped. They both laugh at each other and slowly stand up together.
Tsukasa reaches up and cups Rui’s cheek with one hand while the other intertwines with Rui’s hand.
“I love you Rui.”
Rui smiles warmly
“I love you too Tsukasa.”
They both kiss each other again.
Meanwhile….
Toya walks towards the park.
‘Kamishiro hasn’t said anything about the park yet. I should go check.’
When rounding the corner to go to the park he suddenly bumps into his partner
“Hey watch where- Toya?!”
Toya clutches his head where it collided with Akito’s
“Shit! Are you alright?” Akito puts his hand where Toya’s is
“Yeah it’s good just surprised me. What are you doing here though?”
“Haha…Well I was looking for you, follow me partner.” Akito says awkwardly
Toya clasps his hand with Akito as he leads them to the park, they hide behind the corner of the brick wall and see the purple and yellow haired boys near the swing
“Oh Kamishiro found Tsukasa-senpai.”
“Yeah.”
“He found Tsukasa.” Toya smiles warmly as the two boys embrace each other near the swings
“Which is why I didn’t text the chat or call out to them. I let them have their moment I guess.” Akito rolls his eyes
Toya kisses Akito’s cheek and watches as he turns pink and giggles
“Cmon let’s go message the chat and group everyone up at the Tenma’s.”
“Ha! I’d like to see Rui and Tsukasa get flustered at that!”
They both walk back to the house as the two near the swings stay oblivious to them.
Oh boy did Tsukasa get an earful from all his friends.
