Chapter Text
Regulus sat at the edge of the pool, his feet dangling in the cold water.
"You not going in?" Regulus was pulled away from his thoughts as he turned to look at James, his brother's best friend.
"No," Regulus turned back to the water, "Idon'tknowhowtoswim." He mumbled.
"Sorry?"
"It doesn't matter, it's embarrassing."
"I won't laugh." Regulus let out a sigh.
"I don't know how to swim."
"Oh, well, do you want some company?"
"I don't mind." James rolled up his trousers before sitting down next to Regulus and dipping his feet into the water.
"I'm surprised to see you here."
"Why?"
"You're not really a party person, are you?"
"I guess not."
"What brought you here tonight?" James asked as he leant back on his hands.
"Barty made me come with him. He said I'd be able to get him in, you know, because of Sirius."
"Ah, he definitely wouldn't have made it into my house had you not been here. Twitchy little git."
"He's not that bad once you get to know him."
"I'll have to take your word on that."
"Why are you annoying Prongs?" Sirius crossed his arms as he made his way over.
"He's not. I asked if I could join him."
"Well hurry up, we're about to play truth or dare."
"I'll be in in a minute."
"Pads, are you coming?" Remus poked his head out the door.
"Yeah. I was just fetching Prongs."
"Okay." Remus disappeared and Sirius turned back to James.
"Don't be long." He muttered before heading inside himself.
"You'd better get inside." Regulus smiled.
"You coming too?"
"I think I'm going to pass; truth or dare isn't for me."
"C'mon, you never know, it might be fun."
"I don't think so."
"C'mon." James stood up and held his hand out for Regulus.
"I'm not promising I will play."
"Don't be a spoil sport."
The pair made their way inside and joined the group gathered in the large living room.
“I see you finally decided to join us.” Sirius rolled his eyes earning some giggles from a pair of girls. “Everyone know the rules?” Sirius asked as he placed an empty bottle down in the middle. “Right.” He spun the bottle, everyone watching intently until it came to a halt in front of Peter. “Wormy, truth or dare?”
“Um dare.”
Sirius stared around the room. "I dare you to kiss MacDonald.”
“Why do I have to be involved?”
“It was either you or Emmeline and I didn’t fancy dealing with Prongs.”
“Good choice.” Emmeline smiled as she rested her head on James’ shoulder. Mary sighed before crawling across the floor to Peter. She smiled and tapped her cheek. Peter squeaked before placing a quick kiss there.
“Pathetic.” Sirius laughed. Peter spun the bottle and it landed on James.
“Prongs, truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Who do you love more, Sirius or Emmeline?” Emmeline removed her head from James’ shoulder and looked at him expectantly.
“Sorry Pads, I’m gonna say Em.” Emmeline smiled and planted a kiss on his lips.
“What happened to bros before hoes?”
“Who are you calling a hoe, Black?” Emmeline raised an eyebrow. James spun the bottle and Regulus watched as it came to a stop in front of Sirius.
“Pads, truth or dare?”
“Dare.”
“I dare you to drink that salmon smoothie we made the other day.”
“Sure!” Sirius jumped up and disappeared into the kitchen, he returned carrying a glass filled with a stodgy mixture.
“That fucking stinks.” Marlene covered her nose.
“Well, here we go.” Sirius tipped the glass up but nothing happened. “It’s stuck.” He shook the glass a couple of times but still nothing happened.
“Here.” Remus handed him a teaspoon.
“Cheers.” He scooped up some of the mixture and grinned. “Here goes nothing.” He put the mixture in his mouth. Dorcas began to gag and quickly left the room.
“I can’t.” Marlene shook her head and followed her girlfriend.
Sirius spooned the remainder of the mixture into his mouth and placed the empty glass down on the coffee table.
“Done!”
“Well done.” James nodded. Sirius wiped his mouth and sat back down. “Right.” He spun the bottle and grinned as it came to a stop in front of Regulus. “Ah, Reggie.”
“I’m not playing.”
“Don’t be a spoil sport, truth or dare?” Regulus rolled his eyes.
“Fine, truth.”
“Who is the writing in your diary about?”
“It’s not a diary!”
“Sure.”
“You went through my things?”
“Stop moaning and answer the question.”
“No.” Regulus stood up. “Fuck you.” He muttered as he left.
