Lily was commonly known as a very loving and open person. She loved her family, her house, her friends. She loved books and art and Butterbeer. And most importantly, she loved Remus Lupin, so dearly and deeply she genuinely believed that he was her platonic soulmate.
And because Lily loved him so much, this boy whose heart had been beaten black and blue, Lily had no other choice but to hate Sirius Black.

Summary
If someone asked Sirius about love when he was eleven years old he would say love wasn’t worth the time.
His new dormmates, however, did not share his stance. At the very least, not fully.
“You don’t want to be in love?” James asked.
Sirius shook his head, “Why bother?”
“Well, cause,” James grappled with some concrete argument to use. Something that would sway Sirius into a sonnet-writing-romantic. “It’s love!”
Seemingly, that was the best he could do.
