Chapter Text
Arthit woke up with a start to the darkness of the room. He felt around for the now familiar warmth to the left of the bed and sat right up blinking confusedly when it was missing.
Just as he was about to throw the covers aside to search for his boyfriend, he heard a soft click of the door lock.
Said boyfriend soon came padding into the room, moving around lightly in the darkness as though he had done it a million times. Arthit’s heart palpitated.
At this point, he didn't know whether it was due to the nightmare that he had or because he was watching his boyfriend move around so carefully in the dark to make sure he didn't wake him up. He felt loved. So loved.
Quietly, he crawled out of bed and swiftly made his way towards the other figure who hadn't realised that the older of them had already awoken.
Kongpob jumped slightly when strong arms encircled his waist, a heavy forehead now resting on his shoulder from behind.
He had been so engrossed in trying to put the food and drinks away as quietly as he could he had completely failed to notice the other presence in the room was no longer soundly asleep.
Getting over it quickly, he brought one hand to rub at the hands around him while the other continued its agenda.
"Ow, P'Arthit, you're awake? Did I wake you? Sorry, I had some last minute early project meetings this morning so I thought I'd pick up some food for you to have later when you woke up."
When he didn't even get a usual sleepy grunt in reply, Kongpob immediately knew something was wrong.
"Phi? What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
A shake of head - no. But the arms around him tightened just a little.
"Phi?"
"I had a nightmare," came the softest whisper, voice almost trembling. "I couldn't find you anywhere, no matter how hard I looked. You weren't around."
Arthit didn't want to admit how much the dream had scared him. But it was clear, even to his usual self-denial self, how important Kongpob was to him right now. He hadn't woken up this afraid because of a nightmare in ages.
Kongpob smiled as he pried Arthit’s arms around him open - which was no easy feat by the way as the other was unwilling to let go. Before his boyfriend could protest, Kongpob had pulled him back into his arms, a frontal hug this time around.
Arthit felt his entire body relax almost immediately, slumping lightly against the other whilst Kongpob stroked his hair. After a few moments of silence, Kongpob pulled away lightly so he could see Arthit’s face. The latter complied a little more willingly this time, although his arms remained firmly wound around the younger's torso.
The soft light from the sunrise was now peeking through the gaps of the curtain and it illuminated Arthit's face. The ex-head hazer's eyes were welling with tears, making them shine more than usual and his nose was red from trying not to cry.
'So adorable,' Kongpob stared at him for a short while. It was bad to admire your boyfriend's face when he was close to tears but Kongpob couldn't help it. Not when all this was for him, because Arthit thought he was gone.
"Phi, if you ever find yourself without me, all you have to do is stay right where you are. You know that right?"
"Huh?" Arthit looked at his boyfriend, baffled. If Kongpob was gone, should he not be looking for him? It was the most logical thing to do. While his brain swam with thoughts, Kongpob had cupped his cheeks with his palms, cradling his face gently between them.
"Because I would move heaven and earth to find my way back to you. Nothing can keep the moon away from the sun you know? So just stay right where you are, l'll be by your side again before you know it." Kongpob promised, dropping a small kiss on the other's forehead.
Arthit could feel his cheeks flaming. Usually, he would have smacked the younger in the chest and pushed him away, chiding him for his cheesy lines along the way. But today, he couldn't do it. No, he didn't want to do it. Not when Kongpob had just spoken the exact words he needed to hear.
"En. Then I'll stay where I am, right here waiting for you. You promised na Kong? That you will find me no matter what." Arthit said, nodding before dropping a light peck on his boyfriend's lips and threw himself into the warm hug once more.
The unspoken promise lingered in the air between the two - that they would never be apart, not now, not ever.
