Chapter 1: What? 20 years of not kissing can make you a wizard?!

Chapter Text

Adachi Kiyoshi is probably cursed.

The day started out with him getting the standard 'Happy birthday!’ text from his mom.

“happy birthday bro! also good luck with your tour today :p” Tsuge texts him.

And with that, his birthday celebration was over. Today was a big deal for him, not because it was him starting his 'official adulthood' as Tsuge would call it. This was the day of he'd get a tour of his dream college.

'Rather mundane.' Kiyoshi thinks as he gets dressed. He'd been dreaming of going to this college and has been saving money for it for the better part of two years. As soon as Kiyoshi graduated high school, he had gotten two part time jobs to be able to split the costs with his mom.

Before he stepped out the door, Kiyoshi quickly checks his watch to make sure he's right on time. The bus arrives in exactly 15 and it's a 10-minute walk to the bus stop, leaving him with a buffer just in case anything goes wrong. 'Which it won't.’ Kiyoshi had written down this route countless times, checked the weather nonstop and had his outfit planned a week ahead. He was prepared for anything.

Well, almost anything.

A flash of orange catches Kiyoshi's eye as he makes his way up the slight hill in his neighbourhood. At the top sits a red tabby staring at him with a cocked head, almost as if it was waiting for him. Kiyoshi instantly gushes at the sight of the cat. He crouches down and coos as it pushes it's head up against his hand while purring. 'Must be a stray.’ He thinks after noticing the lack of a collar. He's lived in that dingy apartment for 2 years and didn't see cats that often.

Patting down the cat's back, Kiyoshi checks his phone once more only to realise that he'd spent just over 5 minutes indulging in petting the tabby. 'Shit.'

Kiyoshi was about to miss an extremely important event he had scheduled months in advance all because he had stopped to pet a stray cat.

He instantly broke into a jog heading towards the bus stop. All hope was lost as he witnessed the bus leave from across the street, leaving an almost cartoonish trail of smoke behind. Kiyoshi grips his hair and lets out a small, exasperated scream. 'This can't be happening right now.’

The next bus comes in half an hour. Kiyoshi knows this. He also knows that he'll never make it because this is the only bus stop that can take him to where he needs to go. He knows that he doesn't really need to go to this tour because he's already technically gotten accepted to this school, but he'd already been hyping this day up for god knows how long and had made so many plans.

A loud meow breaks his train of thought. There was the red tabby, cocking its head at him again. It glances up at him, almost mockingly, before meowing once more and then walking away, tail swinging.

Kiyoshi groans.

'Uber it is then'

As if his day couldn't get any worse, there was a traffic jam on the highway, meaning that Kiyoshi would most likely arrive at the meeting point late. Also meaning that he'd probably get left behind and have to ask someone for directions, which he was not prepared to deal with.

He basically fell out of the Uber and immediately began running to the small park on campus. Students walking around paid little attention to the panicked looking boy, thinking he was most likely late to class.

Cherry blossom leaves littered the paths and made Kiyoshi's vision a haze of pastel pink. He looked down once again to check the time on his watch. Just two minutes. 'Okay, I can probably make it if I just keep run-'

"OOF!"

In a flash, his body made contact with another and then he was on the floor.

'What the hell?'

'Ouch, jesus.'

Kiyoshi was then made very much aware of how close his face was to another man's. He quickly tried to get up only to realise that their limbs were tangled. 'Strike me down right now, this is SO embarrassing.'

'Oh my god did I give him brain damage?'

"Are you okay?" Said the man underneath him, looking at him with concern in his eyes.

"Uh yeah, let me just-" Did he have brain damage or was he just hallucinating due to the stress? And they both got up and dusted themselves off.

Now Kiyoshi could actually get a look at the other man, who was hot wearing a long beige coat, polished dress shoes and had styled brown hair, the opposite of Kiyoshi's bed head.

"I'm so sorry but do you happen to know where a campus tour is taking place?"  The man asked and checked his very expensive looking watch, which prompted Kiyoshi to check his own. The shorter man furrowed his eyebrows and chewed on his lip. They were, in fact, late.

Kiyoshi sighed, "Yeah, but you're heading the wrong way. It's at the end of the park. And we're probably late by now." He ruffles his already mussed up hair and groans. 'Well, this is it I guess- '

The other man cuts his thoughts short, "We can probably still make it! C'mon!" He shouts and grabs his hand and takes off running. Kiyoshi squawks as he's made to follow behind the other man.

"I'm Kurosawa Yuichi by the way!"

'This guy probably thinks I'm mad, but I really don't want to show up alone. Plus he's cute.'

Kiyoshi glances up in confusion. "I-I'm Adachi Kiyoshi."

'What the hell is going on?'

It's almost too picturesque the way it all plays out. Sakura leaves are falling all around them. Kurosawa takes a quick look behind him at Kiyoshi, and then grins. And all Kiyoshi can think is,

'His smile is blinding.'
