“What on earth are you doing?”
George startled at the sudden voice in the doorway, splashing the bubble-filled water he was sitting in out of the tub with his knee as he jolted in shock.
“Dream!” The brunet exclaimed, glaring at the tall blond man in the doorway. Dream only grinned back at him before pushing himself away from the door frame and taking a few steps into the bathroom.
He sat himself down on the closed toilet seat next to the big, round porcelain tub, and he reached to grab the bottle George had in his hand. “Love,” Dream said as he read the label. “Are you getting wine drunk in the bath without me?”
George rolled his eyes and snatched the bottle back, lifting it to his lips to take another swig. This time though, as he kept eye contact with the lovely blond man sitting next to him, he missed his mouth slightly, sending red wine down his chin and chest, before mixing into the bubbly water. George half expected Dream to tease him for having a hole in his lip, but the man only wiped the wine from George’s chin with his thumb before sticking it into his mouth and licking it clean.
George’s lips parted as he watched, his eyes glued to pretty pink lips as they wrapped around a pale thumb, sucking softly.
“Eyes up here, lover boy,” Dream teased as he pulled his thumb from his mouth. He snatched George’s bottle again, this time taking an actual drink from it before setting it down on the bathroom counter. “Is this that fancy stuff we got on our honeymoon?” He asked, eyeing George with narrowed eyes as he worked the buttons on his shirt open.
“No,” George shook his head. “It’s the stuff we got from your mum when she and your dad came home from Italy,” George said as he watched Dream’s shirt fall from his shoulders and onto the tiled floor. Dream hummed, reaching down to unbuckle the slim belt that was fasted around his waist, keeping his fancy dress pants in place. George watched with half-lidded eyes as the belt was unfastened and then pulled from Dream’s pants belt loops with a soft schwoop!
The brunet man licked his lips carefully, his tongue wiping away any excess wine that may have been gathered there. “Dream,” George said breathlessly. The blond turned and looked at him with a quirked eyebrow. “Baby, you look so good…”
Dream smirked at his husband's words. “You really think so?” He asked teasingly and George nodded enthusiastically, watching Dream’s hands dip to the button and zipper on his pants.
“Yes,” George said, still breathless. “Always. You always look so good. So perfect all the time… So fuckin’ pretty and-” George’s sentence died on his tongue as he watched Dream’s hands pull his waistband down.
The blond’s pants and boxers fell down his legs into a heap on the cold floor and he stepped out of them, kicking them away. He turned to smile at George softly, only to find the brunet staring at him already, eyes wide and mouth partially open in awe.
Dream still got embarrassed about it sometimes, how George, now that they were married and living together in their own home, stared at him so unabashedly, with eyes so full of love and adoration. He wondered what he did to deserve someone so amazing.
“Love,” Dream said, catching his lover's attention. George looked up at his face and Dream smiled kindly at him. “Scooch forward for me, would you?” George nodded quickly, scooting forward in the big tub. Dream smiled before grabbing the neck of the wine bottle and stepping in behind George. He rested one hand on the edge of the tub as he lowered himself in behind George, and he let out a sigh as the warm water encased the lower half of his body, easing away all the stress from his meeting-filled day.
“Can I…” George asked, peering back at his husband over his shoulder.
Dream nodded, leaning back against the wall behind him. “Of course, love. Lean back for me,” Dream cooed, his eyes growing heavy as George leaned back into his chest.
They sat in the bath together for a few minutes in silence, quietly passing the bottle of wine back and forth to each other, giggling softly if one of them spilled or if Dream accidentally bumped George’s head with his elbow as he took a drink.
It was calming. Peaceful. It was domestic and lovely and all either of them had ever wanted in life.
“Dream?” George asked softly, leaning forward in the bath so he could turn his body so he was facing the blond man. Dream leaned forward as well, pulling his back from the wall behind him.
“Yeah?” He asked, head tilting as he stared George down.
There was no hesitation in George's voice as he spoke his next line. “I love you, Dream… So much it hurts sometimes… I love you more than I ever thought I could love another human, and that used to scare me, but here, now,” George motioned to the space between them and Dream couldn’t help the fondness that fell over his face as he gazed upon the man he’d loved for years. “I’m not afraid anymore… And you are the one to thank for that. I love you so much.”
George, for as long as Dream had known him, has always struggled with speaking his feelings. He struggled to show his emotions. He struggled to get those three little words out, and it had nearly been the end of their relationship towards the beginning (All because of a silly fight that had gotten out of control after someone had posted a picture of them kissing on Twitter without their consent.)
So for Dream, hearing George admit that so blatantly, with no hesitation or regret, and only pure love and honesty in his tone, it made him tear up.
“George,” Dream gasped as tears welled on his waterline. George's eyes widened in horror as he watched tears fall from his lover's eyes and Dream let out a wet laugh as George raised his pruny hands out of the water to wipe the blond’s tears away hurriedly and Dream shook his head. “Baby, good tears. I promise.”
George sighed in relief but kept his hands cradling Dream’s cheeks anyways. “I’m… glad.”
Dream ignored George’s nervousness and nodded. “I- Me too. I love you so much, baby. I adore you. You’re so special to me and I couldn’t do life without you.”
Big brown eyes blinked lovingly up at green, and George let out a sigh as he pulled Dream’s face forward, planting their lips together awkwardly.
The kiss was sweet and passionate despite it tasting like bitter red wine and George’s gross watermelon sour gummies he’d watched him eat a handful of right after they’d eaten dinner, but Dream was too in love to complain about it.
“I hope we can be like this in every universe,” George said, a smile teasing at his lips as the two rested their forwards together. “Even the ones where I’m a hopeless king and you're a tyrant knight. And the ones where I’m an alien and you’re an astronaut. And the ones where you have a third nipple and I have-”
Dream cut his husband off with a wheeze. “George!”
