Crunchy Chip groaned after the loud alarm went off and woke him up almost immediately. He pushed the sheets off himself and scooted over to the nightstand to punch the top of the alarm clock, it stopped beeping.
He sat up, his hair covering his face and he blew it off before kicking the rest of the sheets off his feet.
Rubbing his face and sitting at the edge of his bed he nearly fell off whilst using the nightstand as support to stand up.
“Ugghh..” he groaned.
Then he stumbled over to his bathroom, slapping a hand on the lights and he looked into the mirror to find his hair tangled and messy. He grabbed a brush and started to comb through his short hair while walking over to use his other hand to start his shower.
He dropped his brush into a box sitting on a black shelf beside his sink then began to strip. Stepping in and closing the curtain, hot water hit his back as he stood staring at a bottle of shampoo. He wandered off in his thoughts and gasped out loud remembering a message he got the night before.
-
Caramel
“We’re all gonna be meeting up at the front of the amusement park at like 10 am or something btw”
Crunchy Chip
“ok cool”
Crunchy Chip
“night”
Caramel
“Goodnight Chip”
-
When the alarm sounded he remembered he had set it to eight thirty instead of what he planned to be seven thirty. He quickly started scrubbing his hair with the shampoo.
After his shower he quickly got out and dried himself, he wrapped his towel around him to grab clothes out of his drawers. He quickly put them on then when to dry his hair.
Grabbing the blow dryer with one hand he used the other to plug it in and he combed through his hair while drying it.
Grabbing his phone off the counter along with a hearty rye inside of a plastic bag and his keys, he turned around and called his dog over to him to clip a leash on his vest.
“Good boy.. you’re such a good boy huh? Hehe. You’re so cute Ralphieee.”
He petted the dog aggressively and spoke to it in a baby voice and it smiled back at him. He stood up to the door to open it and lock it behind them, they walked over to an elevator down the hall of their apartment and pressed a button with a star above it.
Chip looked at his hand clutching his phone and the leash, he opened a message coming from his older brother.
-
Dark Choco
“Hurry up man Vanilla and like his son are already here.”
Crunchy Chip
“UR THERE ALREADY”
Dark Choco
“Where are you??”
Crunchy Chip
“ELEVATOR GOING DOWN TO PARKING tHE LOT?????”
Dark Choco
“Well hurry up because Caramel is already on her way and dad is getting impatient”
“Also they invited some other family idk I haven’t met them yet but they’re also friends of like dad and Vanilla”
Crunchy Chip
“OK NICE COOL SEE YUO”
-
He didn’t bother correcting himself, he picked up Ralphie and as soon as the elevator opened he ran out across the garden and into the parking lot. He set Ralphie down then unlocked his car, being pulled back by his dog who was trying to run off.
“Quit it! We gotta go!”
He tugged on the collar a bit and let him inside the backseats of his car. He closed the door and opened into the drivers side then started the car.
Remembering he hasn’t eaten he quickly pulled out the hearty rye in his pocket and opened it, he ripped off half and stuffed it in his mouth then backed out from his parking spot.
He exited the parking lot then stopped at a red light, he turned and gave the other half of his rye bread to Ralphie who ate it in what seemed like a second.
After about fifteen minutes he spotted the amusement park and started in its way, then a buzzing went off on his phone and he quickly picked it up to answer without looking to see who had called him.
“Crunchy Chip, where are you? Everyone is here except for you and we got pretzels without you!”
His sister, Caramel spoke into the phone with a distorted sound voice due to it literally being up to her mouth. Chip sighed and kept his eyes on the road, pulling into the parking lot.
“I’m finding a parking spot, give me like two minutes! Anyways, did you at least get me something too?”
“Uhh.. you like frozen lemonade?”
“That’s fine, yeah. Oh well uh I just parked so I’ll see you at the pretzel stand then?”
He looked to the side to see the entrance of the park to see they were there.
“We just got back to the entrance so nah, hurry up though cause Choco seems to really want to go on the rid-“
Caramel was cut off with their father, Dark Cacao, taking the phone and putting it on FaceTime.
“Dad, I'm already here. Hanging up!”
“Oka-“
He stuffed his phone into his back pocket and removed his seat belt. He then unlocked his door and stepped out, it was pretty warm but the sun was blinding his eyes.
He opened the door to let his dog out and held him by the leash, he closed the door and walked through the lot over to the gates.
It was free entry so all you had to purchase was tickets for certain rides, he spotted the group and a few unfamiliar faces which left him confused as he walked up to his siblings and father.
“Are those your friends?”
He asked Cacao, he nodded.
“Yes, Hollyberry and her children Wildberry and Princess. There were two others but they both had cancelled.”
Cacao replied, taking a bite out of a pretzel he was holding. It seemed to be sprinkled with.. pepper?
Chip turned to Caramel Arrow who handed him a cup of frozen strawberry lemonade, he took a sip then looked down to see Dark Choco petting Ralphie aggressively. He smiled then heard steps behind him.
“Everyone’s here right? Oh this is the new one huh? Nice to meet you! I’m Hollyberry!”
Hollyberry held out a hand for Crunchy Chip to shake, he took it and smiled. She had a tight grip and a big smile as she shook his hand.
“I’m Crunchy Chip! Nice to meet you too.”
They let go and Hollyberry used an arm to wrap around a shorter figure and a significantly taller one that was about the same height as his father if not taller.
“This is Princess and Wildberry!”
Hollyberry smiled widely and let go of them, Princess shook his hand. She was very smiley, much like her mother. He turned to the taller man who towered over him with an almost expressionless look on his face. He looked almost.. angry. He nodded to him instead of saying anything which wasn’t really surprising considering his menacing-feeling presence.
“He’s not much of a talker, anyways! Let’s go shall we?”
Chip wrapped more of the leash around his hand just in case Ralphie wanted to run off, he was a pretty big dog so he didn’t want to be dragged across the floor of a very busy amusement park.
It was very loud as expected, people running around eating and lining up to ride coasters and merry-go-rounds. He looked up to see a really tall coaster, the ‘DeathJelly Ride’.
He was about to ask one of his siblings if they wanted to ride but found that he was way behind and so he sped walked back up to the group.
They all were speaking among each other and he heard laughs from the older three, Caramel Arrow also joining in on the jokes or whatever it was they were doing.
Chip fiddled with the leash wrapped around his hand as he stayed behind the group just following them around as they tried deciding on what ride they should go on first.
He looked back at the large rollercoaster again and watched as people screamed as they were gliding across the rails on the seats. Man, did it look fun.
“Ah- oh shit. Sorry!”
While daydreaming about going on the ride he had accidentally bumped into someone. He looked up and realized it was that Wildberry dude who simply looked down and blinked.
“It’s okay. Try not to space out like that.”
It was the first time he had heard the guy's voice and it was very surprising. It was deep and it almost sounded as if he were mad but he wasn’t, Chip nodded and took a small glance back at the coaster before turning back to walk with Wildberry.
As they were speed walking to catch up with the group and Crunchy Chip was starting to hate the awkward silence so he tried starting up a conversation with Wild.
“So.. uh.. any specific rides you got your eye on?”
He asked, looking up at the guy and feeling his neck get sore.
“Not at the moment.”
Wildberry replied, his face looking stiff and unfeeling. Crunchy hummed then tried to find something else to say.
“Do you maybe want to go on that one?”
Crunchy Chip turned around and pointed at the rollercoaster he was staring at before, Wildberry looked over nervously.
“Uhm.”
Chip watched as the man glanced between him and the ride then narrowed his eyes.
“Erm. Do you want to?”
He finally replied while fiddling with the bottom of his shirt, Chip smiled and nodded excitedly as Wildberry dug into his pocket and pulled out a couple tickets.
“Hell yeah! This is gonna be awesome, dude.”
Just as he finished his sentence they heard the distant screams coming from the people riding the coaster. Wildberry gulped as they headed over to the line.
“Sorry Ralphie, you can’t go on these rides so you’ll have to wait right here kay?”
Crunchy said as he handed the leash of his dog to one of the employees staying in a sort of waiting spot or park designed specifically for pets. He quickly ran back over to Wildberry who had been holding their place in line.
“Are you sure you want to go on it? It looks a bit high.”
“Well, yeah! That’s the point! It’s gonna be fun, you’ll see!”
Chip hadn’t noticed the shakiness in his monotone voice and kept going on about how fun roller coasters are and that the thrilling feeling was the best part. The line eventually got shorter and shorter..
“Ooohh.. hehe, we’re next!”
Crunchy watched the cart finally come back. The man in front of them held his hand out for the tickets and Wildberry hesitated before placing two tickets in his palm.
The guy opened the gate and Chip ran over to sit in the front.
“Wildberry, Come on!”
He patted the seat beside him and Wildberry sighed before slowly walking over and sat down. Everyone else found their seats and the guy who had let them in walked over.
He tapped a microphone connected to an earpiece.
“Alrighty welcome to the DeathJelly Coaster, remember to keep arms and legs inside your seats at all times. Fasten your seat belts and pull the bars down so that it clicks and stays, I’ll be coming around to make sure it’s locked.”
Chip was practically shaking with excitement as the man had finished checking all the bars and walked over to his desk with a few buttons on it.
Crunchy smiled and looked up to Wildberry only to see a nervous look on his face and he gripped the bar tightly.
“Wildberry, is something wrong?”
“I’m not the biggest fan of heights-“
“What?! Why didn’t you tell me earlier-“
And the coaster took off, running into a dark tunnel before slowly ascending up the rails into the sky.
“Oh.”
“WOOOOO!”
Chip was raising his arms and cheering the entire ride like most of the other people on the cart with them, Wildberry was holding onto the bar for dear life as he stayed completely silent the entire time.
They dropped and rose then even went upside down at one point.
The ride slowed to a halt as it neared the end and they were able to exit the carts. Chip pushed up the bar and helped Wildberry who was shakily standing up over to the exit of the ride.
“Man, that was awesome! Are you doing alright though bud?”
Wildberry had a blank expression on his face, only nodding as Crunchy helped him over to a bench.
“I’ll be right back- I gotta get my dog. Stay there-“
And he ran off, Wildberry laid back on the bench and shivered. He sighed heavily and sat up straight when he saw Chip coming back with his large dog beside him.
“Are you sure you’re okay? You look pretty upset..”
He sat on the bench beside him and Ralphie sat at their feet. Wildberry rubbed his face and chuckled before turning to Chip.
“Yes, I’m alright. Just a bit shook.”
“Haha, alright. Should we get back with the rest of the group?”
“Yeah.”
