Work Text:
“Sero… Sero, Sero look.” Kirishima said excitedly, making a poor attempt at remaining quiet as he jolted Sero’s arm frantically to pull the teens attention towards the picture he had finished working on.
It took him a minute longer than it should have to work out what exactly he was looking at, as the page mostly just contained stickers, texta markings, and copious amounts of glitter. A work of art, truely.
He made sure to tell Kiri that It was the cutest thing he had ever seen, he had a little box of every drawing that Kirishima had done for him; it made him unbearably emotional.
“Oh my gosh! That looks so cool, little man. Are you going to put it somewhere to dry safely?”
Kirishima grinned under the praise, before nodding solemnly and grabbing his picture to store it on the table underneath Sero’s mini desk fan, the spot that Sero had designated for any pictures.
“Good boy. Now, done with crafts for today? Or do you want to do another picture?”
Kirishima thought about it for a moment, and Sero diverted his attention briefly to the other kiddos in the room, relaxing a bit at seeing Bakugou and Ashido still sitting on top of the bed together watching the show Sero had put on at the beginning.
Ashido never really slipped young enough to actually require a caregiver, unlike the others of their little group, at most she just liked having the company of someone to hangout with. Aside from that she mostly just hung around to help babysit the babies; if she wasn’t caregiving herself.
Fortunately for Sero she had taken it upon herself to drag a sulky Bakugou into the excellent distraction that was the older episodes of Pokémon. It was, well, effective to say the least, he had been occupied with the bright colours and sounds for over an hour; content to just sit and watch them with minor commentary.
It was a nice change, Bakugou didn’t usually have a fun time regressing, so Sero was thankful whenever the kid could have an easier time of it.
Sero turned his attention away from the two on the bed just in time to catch Kaminari attempting to stick a handful of sequins and glitter into his mouth, while Kirishima was determinately reorganising his felt-tip pens into the right order, before putting them away.
Sero rushed over to Denki as soon as he processed what he was seeing, quickly putting caps on the glitter tubes and brushing the sequins towel and out of the way.
“Denki! No eating the sparkles please, what did we agree on?” Sero softly reminded the toddler, making sure he knew he wasn’t actually upset.
For the fourth time.
“Wasn’ gonna!” Denki exclaimed, pretending to look innocent despite having been caught directly in the act. He loved his best friend, so he was very used to the absolute shithead that his best friend could be; big or small.
“Uh huh? Sure thing.”, Sero teased, tipping the loose materials that couldn’t be re-used into a bin, letting Kirishima happily finish up the rest while he got Denki re-sorted, “Now, do we want to watch something? Or would we like to play a game?”
As Sero expected, Denki chose to play a game, his switch to be specific. It took Sero a minute to stand up and grab it off the shelf he’d put it on, as per Denki’s request of not wanting it broken.
Sero knew it wouldn’t be long until he heard Aizawa knocking on the door quietly, wary of being too loud in case he woke anyone up. It was a newer sort of agreement, having Aizawa as a caregiver, but as the amount of students using regressing to cope with the shitstorm that was their school year; it seemed only logical to tell their teacher.
If only to avoid any awkward experiences, they weren’t exactly shy with each other about the concept; it was nice.
He was pretty damn good at it too. As such, he made a point of checking on his students in general, but especially if he knew they were regressed at all. Even Sero was willing to admit the support of their teacher made the whole experience of getting through classes, and dealing with consequences of everything so much easier.
“Alrighty! You want to come sit against the bed here and play?”
“Yeah!” Denki excitedly called back, hurrying over to sit against the side of the bed, pulling his favourite yellow blanket into his lap as he loaded the switch up, booting up what Sero thinks is one of the Pokémon games; judging by the flash of screen he saw earlier.
“Remember not to stand up and move around too much with it, yeah?”
“Uh huh!”
Assured that Denki would remain occupied and semi-out of trouble for the time being, he redirected his attention back over to the other three, where Kirishima had sprawled himself across Ashido and Bakugou’s legs and had entertained himself with playing minecraft on his iPad quietly.
So that meant he’d been entertained for the next few hours, as Sero remembers very clearly the rant he received off of Kirishima a few days ago about how he refused to stop playing minecraft unless he had to, until he finished building the “mega lava castle”.
Last week, it was a “melon and orange shaped pirate ship”, so honestly points for creativity.
Bakugou on the other hand, was looking vaguely bleary-eyed as he tried his best to focus on the show in front of them. It was late enough in the night, with dinner having been a few hours ago at least, that it wouldn’t be too long before they all split up to go to their rooms.
Or well, as close to their rooms as they get, it wasn’t uncommon for them to crash in with each other, with the exception of Ashido who often wasn’t allowed and usually found herself in Momo’s room; as the other girl was one of her caregivers. Kirishima and Bakugou usually ended up rooming, same with Sero himself and Kaminari.
It wasn’t technically allowed in the school rules, but so long as everyone behaved, Aizawa didn’t care.
“You guys all good?” Sero asked quietly, receiving three nods from the three on the bed, and a vague hum from Kaminari. Communication at its finest.
He busied himself with working on the English assignment they’d been assigned a few days ago, it wasn’t due for two more days, but knowing his luck he’d end up forgetting about it and failing the thing.
Present Mic was a lovely teacher until he felt like you weren’t trying enough. Then he was terrifying enough to rival Aizawa’s glares.
He’d admittedly only written a couple paragraphs at most when he heard Kaminari shift from across the room, stumbling slightly over with his blanket and switch to slump down next to him.
Sero knocked their heads together gently, going back to his assignment as Kaminari went back to his switch, content to enjoy the peaceful silence that had finally fallen over the room.
“Sero! Pick a colour for me! Red, blue or orange!” Kirishima called out suddenly.
“Orange I reckon’” Sero responded, prompting a solemn nod from Kirishima that meant he’d picked the option the kid wanted anyway.
“Why? Whatcha doing over there?”
“I’m building the dungeons!“
Right. Of course he was.
“Ooooh! Sounds so good, little man.”
“I know, thank you.”
Sero snorted in amusement, burying himself back into his work once everyone had settled back down; he loved his friends to pieces, but it was hard to focus on his stuff when everyone was doing something or another. He had at least another thirty minutes before they’d probably get told to go back to their rooms for curfew, so he was more than willing to use that time to do his assignment, and chill with his friends so that he’d have a less busy day tomorrow. Hopefully.

As he had expected, almost exactly a half hour later, he heard the familiar way of Aizawa knocking. He cast a look towards the others in the room quickly as he untangled himself from Kaminari to go and actually open the door. They were all in varying states of tiredness, with the exception of Ashido who was entertaining herself with HayDay for some obscene reason.
“Curfew time. How is it going?” Aizawa asked after a moment, and Sero took a moment to think in amusement that he still had the stilted way of caring about them, especially in this regard.
“Pretty chill, Kiri and Bakugou are half asleep already.”
Aizawa nodded, before calling out to the two drowsy boys soft enough to not startle them, but enough to prompt them into sliding off the bed and ducking past Sero and his doorway; a familiar routine at this point.
“Bye Sero! I’ll show you my dungeons and my castle and my horses tomorrow!” Kirishima exclaims happily, suddenly far too awake for someone who was previously almost unconscious.
Aizawa raises an amused eyebrow at the comment, to which Sero just grins.
“Bye Kiri! You better show me tomorrow little dude.” Sero returns with just as much excitement, before lowering his voice slightly to say bye to Bakugou, who was always less-than-pleased at loud talking; painfully ironic if you asked him, “Sleep well Blasty.”
Bakugou just nodded slightly in response.
“Make sure you’re all split up before I make my way back down, yeah?” Aizawa prompted, and Sero agreed readily.
“Allll good boss, Ashido is leaving in a minute anyway.” He very specifically does not say anything about Kaminari, they all know him and Kaminari are sticking together for the night anyway.
Aizawa rolled his eyes at him as he closed the door quietly, leading Kirishima and Bakugou in the direction of their rooms with a few quietly-spoken comments.
Sero turned back to the other two after a moment. Ashido was gathering her stuff into her arms, trying to locate where she had tossed her pink jacket earlier.
“Are you actually going back to your room?”
“Not at all, Momo and Jirou are both still awake. I’m going to go bother them; Aizawa won’t care.” Ashido retorts, and well, she wasn’t actually wrong.
“Don’t get lost on your way down.” Sero teased, as Ashido sent him the middle finger while simultaneously giving Kaminari a final smothering hug.
“Shut up.”
“Tomorrow morning we’re going out to that mall right? The new one that's just opened?” Sero double checked as he gave her a hug; not wanting to wake up early for nothing if he could avoid it.
“Yep! It’s apparently got a really good drink place and I am dying to try their drinks.”
“Right right, sleep well gremlin.” Sero said as Ashido made her way to the door.
“‘Gremlin’, as though you’re not barely older than me right now. I see through your games.” Ashido whispered theoretically and Sero just rolled his eyes as he closed the door, not acknowledging her comment at
all
. He heard the sound of her cackling slightly as she walked away.
“Our friends are menaces, did you know that?” Sero said dramatically, making Kaminari giggle from where he had slid himself into the mess of blankets and pillows on Sero’s bed.
“Uh huh!” Kaminari called, fumbling with his tagged blanket while Sero organised the blankets on the bed.
Him and Kaminari settled into the quietness of the room after a moment, excluding the low-volume noises of the noise machine Sero had bought a few weeks ago. These were genuinely some of Sero’s favourite moments in between the chaos of training, just the simple moments with his best friend when everything was just calm.
“Wake me up if you need me, yeah Kami?” Sero whispered softly, nudging the boy next to him.
“Mhm, nini ‘ero” Kaminari murmured back, already falling asleep where he had laid down; the kid was practically a master at this point of doing a great job at not being tired until he laid down once; to which he would just pass out instantly.
“Night buddy.”
