Saturdays were always a special day in the Beale-Mitchell household, Saturdays were reserved for the family. Beca and Chloe had decided early on in their marriage, even in their relationship, that they would reserve one day for just them. Whether that was during the week or on the weekend, they would not compromise on time with each other or the people they loved.
It was always a day they both looked forward to. Whether it was pool day at home, a beach day with some of the Bellas and their families, or even just a day out to the mall, the whole family always enjoyed their time.
Today was a special weekend. Beca had been invited to sing the National Anthem at the Dodger’s game that evening and the whole family was invited.
The kids had never been to a professional baseball game before and were just exploding with questions on what it would be like. Beca had even invited Stacie and Aubrey’s family to tag along so the kids wouldn’t get too bored with one another.
“What are we going to see when we’re there?” Olivia, aka Liv age 8, asked her mama as they were packing up their bags for the game.
“Well, there's going to be this baseball field, you know, like the ones your brother plays on.” Liv nods her head in understanding, “but it’ll be much bigger with more people and big bright lights and a HUGE screen at the back of the field for people to see themselves and watch the game.” Beca tried to explain with some excitement in her voice to match Olivia’s enthusiasm.
“Why do you need to watch the game there if it’ll be going on in the field?” the little girl asked, a bit confused by the concept.
“Because sometimes, you won’t be able to see what’s going on because there are so many people and you might be sitting far away so everything will be tiny.” Beca tried to explain again.
“Are we going to be able to see you when you sing mama?” Oliver, Liv’s twin, asked as he handed Beca her sunglasses.
“You sure are. They’re going to let the family and friends out on the field near the dugout while I’m singing. Then we’ll be in one of the box suites for the rest of the game. Are you guys ready?” Beca answered and asked as the kids were putting on their shoes.
Both twins nodded in agreement and stood by the door.
“Babe! Are you almost ready to go?!” Beca called out to Chloe who was coming out of the nursery with their 14 month old, little Eli in her arms in his Dodger’s onesie.
“Yep! We’re all ready to go!” Chloe answered in a baby voice bouncing Eli on her hip. Eli just responded with a big, gummy grin.
The whole family was dressed in their custom made Dodgers gear, all provided by the team of course.
“Alrighty. Let’s do this!” Beca said as she placed her sunglasses on and walked out to the car in the sunny California heat.
Beca’s performance went off without a hitch. Chloe was very proud of her wife and the kids were super excited to get to spend some time with the team before the performance.
Oliver was especially excited when he got to meet Cody Bellinger and Mookie Betts and got them to sign his jersey. The whole team even signed a baseball for him when he mentioned that he played little league and hoped to be in the MLB when he grew up. Beca and Chloe just let him have his fun with the team as Beca was doing a sound check and Chloe was tending to Olivia and Eli talking to some of the team member’s partners that were there.
The Conrad-Posen family joined them right after sound check and were waiting around the dugout for the performance. Their son, Lucas, was just as excited as Oliver was to get to meet the team and got the same treatment. Both Oliver and Lucas were part of the same little league team so baseball was life for them for the time being.
As soon as the National Anthem was finished, the families were led to their box suite for the game. It was already prepared with hot food and cool drinks at the ready and the tv screens all around the room were already on showing a live feed of the game below.
Oliver and Lucas immediately headed to the floor to ceiling window at the back of the room to watch what was going on down on the field. Beca opened the door to the balcony seats that were part of the suite and the boys quickly followed suit and sat on the cushy seats in the front row.
Eli was slowly running out of steam and Chloe was able to situate him on one of the couches in the room for him to nap. She set up some of the pillow around him in case he rolled off and one of the parents wasn't around to tend to him.
Stacie and Aubrey were helping their girls with their plates of food before setting them on the counter in front of the big windows to watch the game. The girls were already chomping down on their Dodger dogs before Chloe could even finish with Eli.
As the game went on, the boys continued to stay out on the balcony seats enjoying watching their favorite players take the field. The girls enjoyed the games that were constantly played on the jumbotron at the back of the field during small breaks in the game.
The girls would go crazy to try to get the cameraman’s attention to get their excited faces up on the screen, but failed to get on there every time.
Everyone eventually made their way outside to join them and take advantage of the great view they had while they were there.
During one particular break, the infamous Kiss Cam came on the big jumbotron. As usual, the girls would scream and jump up and down and cheer to get their attention. The parents were sitting together in their couples just enjoying watching their kids effort to get on the screen.
As Chloe was busy filming her kids and their friends for her Instagram story, Beca took a quick drink of her water but almost spat it out when she saw hers and her wife’s face on the huge screen.
“Uh…babe,” Beca said, trying to get Chloe’s attention. She had yet to see the result on the jumbotron. “I think it’s our turn…” she said as she tilted her head to the screen and Chloe turned her face to the screen.
Chloe just smiled and slowly leaned into Beca as she joined their lips in a sweet, family-friendly kiss while everyone in the stadium cheered around them.
They both pulled back from the kiss with big grins on their faces as they settled in their seats and watched for the next couple to fall victim to the Kiss Cam.
The rest of the game was a huge success. The Dodgers ended up winning 9-5 with a last inning grand slam to break the tie. The whole stadium went wild and the kids were riled up along with the crazy atmosphere.
The whole group went home happy and exhausted, but thankful for a great time with some of their closest friends.
After the whole Kiss Cam incident with Beca and Chloe, their daughter couldn’t stop talking about it and how cute they were and how cool it was to have her parents be on the jumbotron.
She would always be walking around the house and sneaking up on her parents and yelling “Kiss Cam! Kiss Cam!” while recording them on one of their phones.
The next Sunday morning, everyone was home and just waking up. Sundays were pancake days and both Beca and Chloe would work together to make the family breakfast while the kids slept or started waking up.
As Beca was finishing up with the last batch of pancakes on the griddle and Chloe was cutting up some fruit to go with their breakfast, they heard little footsteps coming around the corner of the kitchen island then their daughter’s loud voice calling “Kiss Cam! Kiss Cam!” with Chloe’s phone in her hand.
Beca wasn’t one to disappoint her daughter so she smiled and turned to Chloe as she placed a sweet kiss on her lips before turning to the camera in Olivia’s hand and winking. She plated up the rest of the pancakes and headed to the dining table to get ready to eat with her family.
She thought it was cute that her kids were so excited about the Kiss Cam from the game, but she was just hoping it wasn’t a habit that would develop and catch on.
A couple days had passed and there wasn’t any more mention of the Kiss Cam or any set up by Olivia to get her parents to kiss on camera. They thought they were in the clear with all of that and Olivia was off to find her next obsession in something else.
However, the next Kiss Cam “incident” came a couple days later during their weekly grocery run. The couple decided it was better to do their groceries during the week to avoid (or at least not have as many) run-ins with fans or paparazzi, and this way, they can bring the kids along as well.
Eli was sitting quietly in his car seat on the shopping cart while Chloe and Beca were walking down the snack aisle to restock their pantry with their favorite snacks. The twins were not as quiet and running around up and down the aisle so Beca sent them on a “special mission” to get their favorite cereals the next aisle over.
Even though they weren’t going too far, they could probably hear them from how loud they were being and how empty the store was, Chloe gave Olivia her phone just in case.
The parents could hear the twins giggles from where they were still grabbing some snacks and silently made eye contact and laughed to themselves how crazy their kids seemed to be.
Eli started to fuss a bit with having been in the car seat for so long so Beca went to go grab him and leave the cart in a good spot while she went with him to grab the last item on the list in that aisle. Chloe was on the other end of the aisle making her way back to the shopping cart with a few things in her arms to empty into the cart.
As Chloe made her way with the cart to the end where Beca and Eli were, she heard the voice of her little girl giggling coming up behind her. As she turned around, she could see Olivia with her phone up in front of her and her brother behind with two boxes of cereal in his arms.
“Kiss Cam! Kiss Cam!” the little girl chimed as she approached her parents. Chloe rolled the cart to a stop as she reached Beca and Eli and Beca placed the last package of Milanos into the cart before smiling down at her daughter.
“Kiss Cam! Kiss Cam!” Oliver joined on in the chant when they saw their parents still hadn’t kissed.
Beca adjusted Eli to be on the opposite side of her and rolled her eyes at Chloe as she leaned in for a kiss.
The twins cheered as Olivia still kept the camera on her parents and even Eli, who didn’t understand why his siblings were cheering, had a big smile on his face and clapped his chubby hands together as his parents kissed.
Some other patrons on the other ends of the aisle witnessed some of the event and were smiling and laughing along with the family.
The family continued to finish their grocery shopping and proceeded to the checkout lines to head home.
After dinner that night, the couple sent the kids off to start getting ready for bed. Chloe went to put Eli down for the night before joining Beca in the kitchen to start cleaning up. She had put her phone on what was deemed “the charging nook”, which was just a small nook in the wall by the kitchen that housed all the charging cables for all the different devices the family had, and went to grab a dish towel to dry the dishes that Beca had already washed.
As they were finishing up with drying the dishes and putting them away, Beca heard a familiar giggle coming from behind Chloe and she rolled her eyes.
“What are you doing here little miss?” she asked Olivia with a raised eyebrow. “You’re supposed to be in bed waiting for us.” Beca said as she slowly approached her daughter and mocked tackling her and just kept her arms around her shoulders, rocking them both back and forth.
She was able to catch a glimpse of the camera app open on Chloe’s phone, which she must've swipe from the charging nook, already recording something and pointed to where she was just standing, but now it was only Chloe in the frame.
Chloe just shook her head as she placed the last dish in the cabinet.
“Kiss Cam! Kiss Cam!” Olivia chanted as she tried to struggle out of Beca’s grasp and turned the phone to get both Chloe and Beca in the video.
“Mama, go over there. It’s time for a Kiss Cam!” she instructed Beca as she pointed to Chloe in front of the camera.
“It is huh? Well someone is supposed to be in bed right now. I don’t think they should be allowed to see the Kiss Cam…” Beca teased as she still held onto her little girl.
“Come on Mama, just one more. Please!” the little redhead asked as she pulled the pouty eyes that she no doubt inherited from her other mother. Beca can’t say no to those eyes and unfortunately for her, all her kids knew it and pulled it on her whenever they could. Even little Eli who didn’t know what it meant, but pulled the look all the time to get his Mama’s attention.
“You’re evil, kid.” Beca deadpanned as Chloe came around to playfully slap Beca on the shoulder.
Chloe leaned down to put her head beside Olivia’s, with Beca’s on the other side, as she took the phone and turned the camera to “selfie mode” and both Beca and Chloe leaned in to be in the frame.
Olivia was excited to be this close to her parents as they did a Kiss Cam selfie style.
“Kiss Cam! Kiss Cam!” she chanted as her parents leaned closer.
At the last second, instead of leaning in to kiss each other, both parents turned to lean in and kiss Olivia on the cheek. The little girl was so excited to get her own Kiss Cam moment.
Beca and Chloe pulled back from their little girl and Olivia turned to give each of them both a proper kiss, Chloe still recording of course because this moment with their daughter was too precious not too.
