After getting engaged, Chloe was already on Pinterest setting up her boards with wedding dress ideas, venues, decorations, and themes. A big, grand wedding was always something she had dreamt about ever since she was a little girl playing with her Barbie and Ken dolls, re-enacting the perfect wedding over and over again.
As she grew older, her dream wedding grew smaller to become a more intimate affair with the people that she loved and would prefer to share her special day with.
When she started dating Beca, the “roles” of the bride and groom were changed as well. No longer was it Barbie and Ken getting married, but now it was Barbie and another “Barbie” tying the knot in her dream scenario.
Her dream came true several months ago when Beca finally proposed to her during their three year anniversary. They had known each other much longer than that of course, but had only been officially dating each other for the past three years, making it a collective of 10 years together.
Beca decided 10 years was enough time to know that Chloe was it for her and neither of them were going anywhere. They were stuck with each other through thick and thin, might as well make it official.
Unfortunately for Beca, the whole spectacle of wedding planning was not something she was expecting. Between the dress fittings, venue, catering, floral designs, and the dreaded table assignments, Beca just couldn’t keep up. She was starting to wonder if getting married was even worth all the trouble. But for Chloe, she would do anything, so “grin and bear it” had become her motto the past few months.
The wedding was only a couple weeks away and Beca was thinking that hiring a wedding coordinator would have meant that she could be as hands-off as possible, but she was completely wrong. With the wedding only a couple weeks away, Beca was all “wedding’d out”. She couldn’t look at flower arrangements, hairstyles, or even the music to be played at the reception without going crazy! She really needed a night with just her girls, sans Chloe since she was just as wedding-crazed.
“I can’t believe you’re getting married in a couple weeks!” Stacie said she, Beca, and Cynthia Rose (CR) were hanging out at one of their favorite bars. They were all secretly hiding from their better halves that were out with Chloe finishing up some wedding stuff.
“Yea, it’s pretty crazy,” Beca said as she smiled while looking down at her drink. “I love her so much. I can’t wait to be married to her and call her my wife.” she finished.
“Awww, look at you B! All mushy and soft for your girl. I know you’ve been like this whenever it comes to Chloe, but it’s still a shock to see it up close even after all these years.” CR said as she nudged Beca’s shoulder.
Beca just nudged her back, “Shut up!” she laughed. “But seriously guys, she’s the love of my life and I’d do anything for her…but this wedding planning stuff is driving out of my mind! As excited as I am for marrying Chloe, I’m more excited just for the wedding to be over and all this planning can finally be done!” she sighed exasperatedly as she took a sip from her drink.
“Yea, I figured. Aubrey’s not even the one getting married and even I can’t stand being around her when it comes to helping Chloe out with the wedding stuff.” Stacie laughed. “I can only imagine what she’s gonna be like when we finally get married.”
“Oh!...So when’s that gonna happen? You finally gonna lock it down?” CR asked Stacie as everyone’s attention turned to Stacie.
She just let out a small smile as she said, “Soon. I have the ring, I’m just waiting for the right time. Which I don’t think will happen until after this girls wedding.” she playfully pointed at Beca.
“Why don’t you do it at the reception? You know, do the whole bouquet throw thing and we can stage it to have Bree be the one who ends up with it?” Beca suggested it.
“Chloe would never allow that.” Stacie laughed. “Becs, you don’t get it. A girls’ wedding day is the only day where all the attention is on them and them alone. No girl likes to share the attention with anyone else except their partner.” she explained.
Beca just smirked, she knew it was true. Ever since she proposed, Chloe would share all her dreams about the perfect wedding she wanted. But she figured Chloe would love to share that day with her best friend at least. It would be a special day that they can share with each other’s best friends as well.
“Yea, girl. If the attention was not on us during our wedding day, I’m sure Denise would’ve flipped and made us redo the whole thing.” CR joked as she took a sip from her drink.
Beca really thought about it and got serious as she turned to Stacie, “Wait, I’m serious. I know Chloe wants this wedding to be perfect, but I feel like she would be happy to help you pull off the perfect proposal if you asked her.” she said. “Bree’s already involved and sharing her day with her bff by being her Maid of Honor, but I’m sure she would love it even more if she got to share her special day with her best friend on one of her special days as well.”
“You really think Chloe would be ok with it?” Stacie asked Beca.
“Oh yeah, I’m pretty sure she would be psyched about it and would be happy to help coordinate that. I don’t mind at all. As long as I get to call her my wife at the end of the day, I don’t care how it all goes down.” Beca reassured Stacie as they all finished up their drinks.
Stacie really thought about it as they finished up. “Ok, I’m down. Let’s do it!” she said excitedly.
“Cool, I’ll talk to Chloe about it tonight and let you know what she said. I’m sure she’ll be excited about it.” Beca told her.
“Thank you so much Beca! I seriously love you! If I weren’t so in love with Aubrey, I’d marry you myself for all the undercover sweetness you have under your tiny, hardshell” Stacie teased as she mockingly knocked Beca on her head.
“Stop it!” Beca smacked her hand away and ducked out of her grip as they made their way out. “I might reconsider now that you’ve made fun of my size and ruined my rep.” she rolled her eyes as she feigned being upset.
She loved her friends so much, looks like Chloe wasn’t the only one she was willing to do anything for, even if it meant sharing her special day with someone other than Chloe. She was glad to do it for their best friends.
