Work Text:
Adam Parrish and Richard Gansey III need to talk, but Adam is a liar, and Gansey's words have thorns on their edges.
Those thorns have scratched Adam before. They've even drawn blood. But Gansey is afraid that if he speaks now, the wounds won't heal.
They both have so much to say, but the words all crumble before they can form a single sentence.
They go down their throats before they can be spit out.
So Adam keeps his untruths, and Gansey keeps his silence.
He doesn't say anything, but at night he mulls it over in his thoughts, a thousand times.
He tries to come up with something, anything, to say, but every time his thoughts turn sharp and his resolve ebbs away quickly.
So neither ever says anything. Especially not the words ‘‘I love you’’, if that's even what it was.
