Summary
The first time she asks him to play with her, it’s a shy knock on his door, a fierce blush splashed across her face as his dad, with his kind face, long white hair, and deadly skills opens the door. He smiles as she squeaks out her request to play with his son, stating that they’d just settled down for a game of shogi, but he has dinner to make, so why doesn’t she take his place? She doesn’t mention that she’s never played before, only ever seen her grandpa playing her father. She nods imperceptibly as he lets her in, guiding her with a hand on his shoulder to the back room where the board game is laid out, two cushions on either side of the board, the farther one occupied by the little white-haired boy she’d come to play with.
