Uki is…confused, to say the absolute least.
He remembers bits and pieces of what happened before he was crudely dropped onto concrete. The falling star. The sudden realization of his new powers. Floating over the ocean and into a portal.
Uki guesses that the portal brought him here for a reason, but what the fuck was that reason? Uki has no clue. For now, he’s happy he’s not the only person that was transported here. Two other men, one of which Uki woke up to — his name is Sonny and his hair is brighter than the sun— and the other —“I’m a phantom thief!” the catboy looking fucker named Alban proclaimed, seemingly too naive for his own good — sit with him and start up a small chat, trying to bring some of the mysteries to light.
He wasn’t willing to share too much about himself, still on high alert. This world doesn’t look like where he’s from. It looks more vibrant and lively. Looks like there would be less pain, and fear, and worry and- It’s… too many bad things he’d rather not remember.
Alban, thankfully, understands and doesn’t pry or ask extra questions. He even playfully punches Sonny in the shoulder when he tries to press for information. That surprised him, something so compassionate from the forthright thief.
They listen to snippets of each other's lives, and even though Uki doesn’t provide more than he’s already given, he enjoys learning about the others.
Though, they aren’t able to chat for long until their attention is drawn to a bright flash and a subsequent crash of someone falling out of the light.
Uki immediately stands at attention, body tense as he stares at the person on the ground. He takes a few steps closer to get a better look. The man is wearing all red and black, and Uki notices the harnesses and large, sharp boots. It’s a very familiar style. Did he come from the same place as us?
He notices in the back of his mind that Sonny and Alban stay back through the jumble of thoughts pouring into his head that are equally curious and on edge. Regardless of his own hesitation, he walks over and kneels beside the man. He presses into his shoulder, which feels indescribably solid and firm against Uki’s palms as he pushes the man off of his side onto his back.
And the first thing he notices is the missing sleeve on his jacket, revealing a solid red and black metal arm. Oh, that explains the heft.
Uki looks to his face after that and sees a red line in the shape of an EKG cutting down his closed right eyelid— his left is hidden behind a swath of gray hair. He looks so peaceful laying there, features soft under Uki’s eyes as he looks down. Trailing past his nose and his lips, to his neck where a large metal collar looking device sits against the base, Uki tilts his head.
He doesn’t know what it is, or what it does, but it’s eye-catching… and honestly kinda sexy.
But he can’t just stare at this sleeping man all day, so he grips his shoulder and attempts to shake him awake. He groans and Uki lets out a held breath, happy he isn’t dead. Uki gives him one more good jerk and his eyes start to open.
And when Uki sees this man’s awake face for the first time? When his eyes meet slate gray, with the slightest hint of purple and blue, he feels a spark. His eyebrows furrow and his pilant mouth turns downward in a confused frown. This is a good expression too.
“H-hello?” The man below him speaks, blinking a few times to clear his vision and adjust to the light. God, his voice… Holy fuck, his voice.
Uki just barely has enough fortitude to respond. “Hello.” His voice comes out softer than he wanted, a remnant of his… past, he supposes? Very, very recent past. “Can you tell me who you are?”
Sonny and Alban stand anxiously behind the psychic, keeping a close eye on the two of them in case anything were to happen.
“I- where the fuck am I?” Oh, he has an accent too.
Uki bites his lip. “Honestly? I have no fucking clue. We got dropped here, just like you did.” Uki shifts to the side to give the gray-haired man a better view of the two behind him. Alban gives a shy little wave and Sonny just watches stoically.
The man underneath him starts to panic, trying to get up, but not being able to find leverage even against the concrete.
Uki’s still trying to get used to being able to hear everyone’s thoughts at once.
God, he’s kinda scary looking, I need to observe… I won’t be caught off guard.
I need to stay at attention to protect Alban and Uki from whoever this is.
Where the fuck am I??? Who are these people? Are they gonna hurt me? Are they enemies? I need to retreat. I need a plan! I-
Uki grits his teeth, trying to drown out the voices. He’s able to corral them to just the mystery man’s thoughts and speaks.
“You’re safe. I know it’s scary, but we aren’t here to hurt you. We don’t know where we are either, but let’s figure that out together.”
And his eyes open wide as he stares at him, gray boring into galaxy purple-pink. Uki realizes, also through the mind reading, that he knows Uki’s reading his mind. He nods slowly, and Uki feels better now that he knows the man is with it.
Uki helps him sit up with one hand on his back, the other on his arm. With a bit of a shock to himself, he feels sharp ridges running down his spine through the thick leather of his jacket. The unexpected feeling almost makes him jolt away, but he pushes it down. Everyone is on edge right now; the last thing Uki needs to do is make a scene.
“Can you tell me who you are now?” Uki repeats calmly, his hand still resting on the metal bicep. Strong.
“I’m…” The man pauses, like he’s blanking on something so simple. Uki frowns.
“I’m Uki. Uki Violeta.” Uki hopes that his introduction kick starts the other’s brain. “How about you? What’s your name?”
“Fulgur…Ovid.”
“Fulgur.” Uki parrots, making the other man’s eyes soften as he smiles. He smiles back at him. “I like it.”
Alban and Sonny lean down to introduce themselves too, but quickly step away, not wanting to crowd Fulgur too much.. or be too close to him. He seems to appreciate it, sighing in relief when they return to their original distance.
Fulgur stands up and pulls his arms over his shoulders in a stretch. Uki blushes, staring up at the man who looks surprisingly more built than he was while he was laying down.
Fulgur smiles down at him, and holds out one of his hands. Uki eagerly takes it, even though he knows he should've been the one offering his hand to lift Fulgur up. But Uki isn’t gonna complain about getting to hold a mysterious, very hot man’s hand, even if it's just for a moment.
Fulgur is pulled up to his feet where Uki meets his eyes yet again. In the sunlight, they seem almost unnatural. Mechanical. It’s mesmerizing. He wonders if his own star-blessed eye is the same to him. He hopes so.
He’s broken from his love stricken stupor by yet another thud behind him. Uki turns around to the noise, and sees another person laying sprawled out.
Still hand in hand, Uki and Fulgur, along with Sonny and Alban, go to greet and wake up their new groupmate.
