Work Text:
This poem is for you.
When I look at you,
all I see is blue.
Blue, blue, blue.
I don’t need to see the ocean,
because when I look at you,
all I see is ocean blue.
You know,
I didn’t really think this through,
all I know is that this poem is for you.
I could lose myself in you.
No, wait!
I realize I already do.
Your light is brighter than the sun.
I know you don’t believe me,
you’re so used to being on the run.
You work with the dead,
with those who lost their light,
but still yours shines so bright.
Like the lighthouse,
you always guide me through the night.
I don’t know what I would do
without your guidance,
without your kindness.
You see,
I didn’t really think this through,
all I know is that this poem is for you.
There is nothing that I wouldn’t do
for you
my light
my love
my soul
my wife.
I would change the world for you,
for you alone.
We both know our destiny isn’t set in stone.
And it’s nice to finally have a place to call home.
You deserve it.
You’ve been through so much.
I know that you’ve sacrificed,
lost so much that you’ve loved.
The world wasn’t kind to you,
but this poem,
this poem is for you.
You’ve stopped running a while ago.
I’ve stopped hating who I was.
I thought I knew what to do,
but then came you.
Turned my world upside down,
eased my frown.
In you I finally found my home.
I know that you didn’t have many things to call yours.
Being a dodger lessened the worth of material things.
You didn’t have many things to hold on to.
Still I wanted to gift this to you,
because this poem,
this poem,
this poem is for you.
