3 Times Jack Almost Got His Partners Killed + 1 Time They Almost Got Him Killed

Summary:

3 Times Jack Almost Got His Partners Killed + 1 Time They Almost Got Him Killed

Work Text:

1 -

Elizabeth and Will know that Jack’s reckless. He’s clueless, and clumsy, and for the ‘greatest pirate ever’ (his words), he gets them into trouble a lot. They love him, and he is skilled! But he’s also a dumbass.

This time around, they’re getting chased by Spaniards, because Jack couldn’t keep his bloody hands off their gold.

“You’d think you’d know not to touch random gold by now,” Will snaps, fighting two Spaniard with one sword. “Especially Spanish gold.”

“Gold’s gold, mate.” Jack tosses his drink in one of their pursuers eyes and slashes him with his sword. “I had it on reliable terms this gold wasn’t cursed.”

“That’s not the point!” Elizabeth stabs at one of the guards, kicking up and hard into his groin. “We’re being chased by Spaniards because of you.”

“Well, you’re handling it just fine, sweetheart.” Jack purrs.

“Do you want to be next?”

2 -

“Well, this is fucked.” Jack says, looking down at the hole in their dinghy. Thank the gods it wasn’t their actual ship. “William, babe, I caused another problem!”

“What problem?” Will turns around, sees the hole in the floor. “Elizabeth! Our boyfriend is causing problems again!”

“If there’s a hole in the boat I’m leaving you both.”

“Oh no, sweetheart, don’t do that.” Jack groans, but it’s too late, Elizabeth’s seen the hole. “I didn’t mean to make the hole. And at least it’s the dinghy, right, loves? We’ve just got to get back to the ship and we’ll be fine.”

“And, pray tell,” Will looks at the water rapidly filling the dinghy, “How are we going to do that?”

3 -

Jack doesn’t exactly do it this time. He did lead the French right to where they were hiding out, but Elizabeth is too busy making sure Will doesn’t bleed out to blame him.

Jack’s blaming himself plenty, though. Even as he helps Elizabeth keep his boyfriend and her husband alive, he’s blaming himself for the injury.

“Stop feeling pitiful.” Elizabeth hisses. “Hand me that boiling water and stop hanging back. I can’t handle you being tentative right now. It wasn’t your fucking fault. Help me keep our love alive, and you can mope later.”

Jack nods, handing Elizabth the boiling water and tilting Will’s head up so he can breathe.

+1 -

“This is not my fault this time.” Jack says, shooting at the English navy men following me. “This is all your fault, loves.”

“Yes, we are aware, thank you Jack.” Elizabeth tosses rocks into a bag and hurls it behind them. “You sure you don’t have any more of those guns?”

“Why would I carry more guns, sweetheart? One gun, one knife.”

“Oh screw this! Will, could we take them with just swords?”

Will looks at the englishmen. They outnumber their ragtag group 3 to 1. “No.”

“Great.” Elizabeth draws her sword and runs at the Englishmen.

“She’s crazy.” Jack says, pulling out his own sword. “We chose the craziest girl out there.”

“That we did. And we love her.” Will and Jack run after their love.
