Jason swallows thickly, "What?"
"My parents death is not the worst thing to ever happen to me," Bruce reiterates, as calm as Jason has ever seen him, eerily indifferent to the topic. But it's his eyes that remind Jason of the situation at hand, the way they're wide and glassy, pale blue eyes screaming for the words to stop.
They don't stop; "Losing you," Bruce continues, unblinking to Jason's expression of absolute horror, "Is the worst thing to ever happen to me."
Pain should not be quantifiable. It's with sinking hatred and pity, does Jason realise, guilt shouldn't be measurable either.
(Batman is hit with truth serum, Jason reacts to the consequences.)

Summary
Sometimes, on the very rare occasion with a gun in his hand, Jason accepts that he is just as bad as them. That he deserves to be nothing just as long as he can drag everyone else who needs to be nothing into the void with him.
But what about the Jason that died? The Jason that was less than five feet tall, 87 pounds, scarfing down extra eggs in the morning so he could be just a little bit bigger. The one that stayed in that fucking coffin for a hundred and eighty two days. Six hours. Four minutes. Eleven and a half seconds.
He didn’t deserve nothing. Which is why he has to believe in something.

Summary
Bruce gets to experience the wonder years of toddlerhood with a son he’s already failed once before. He’s determined not to do it again.
Meanwhile, Dick is planning Jason’s future career in football, Tim is being force-fed soggy snacks from sticky toddler hands, Damian is already trying to teach Jason to read and tie his shoes, and Cass has become the champion of older sisters everywhere. Stephanie is very busy taking pictures for a commemorative album, of course. It’s totally not blackmail at all, Tim, c'mon, but yes obviously she'll share.
Or, the one where Jason makes a mysterious wish and ends up a toddler and maybe quite possibly and inadvertently brings his family back together. Maybe the real bonding experience was all the baby proofing we did along the way.
