Chapter Text
Wish I was Heather,
Watch as she stands with her holding your hand,
Put your arm ‘round her shoulder,
Now I’m getting colder,
But how could I hate her? She’s such an angel.
Albus walked down the stairs of the Potter Manor; through the hall and finally opening the door of the kitchen, where his dad and younger sister were making dinner.
Harry’s head turned around from the pot boiling to look at his son, “Are you alright, Al?”
“Yeah, I’m okay, I just want something to eat.” Albus answered, heading over to the cupboard where the family keeps their snacks.
“Could you wait at least ten more minutes?” Harry asked looking down at his watch, “Dinner’s nearly ready.”
“Okay,” Albus replied, “Should I lay the table?”
“Yes please, remember Teddy and Vic are coming round so two more sets.” Harry reminded, turning back to the pot.
“Oh, yeah I forgot.” Lily spoke up, “When are they coming?”
“Hopefully in a few minutes, but you know them, either early or late, never on time.” Harry answered, smiling, as Albus got enough cutlery for everyone eating that night.
Once Albus finished laying the table, he went out to the living room to sit on the sofa next to his brother, James.
“Alright?” James greeted once Albus sat next to him, not looking up from the coffee table, from where his homework sat, “Hey, you’re good at potions, aren’t you?”
“I mean, I’m okay.” Albus replied as he pulled out his phone from his cargos.
“Would you mind helping me with this?” James pleaded, “I’m absolutely sh-“
“James language!” Harry shouted from the kitchen; Albus could just hear Lily giggling.
Albus smirked, “Only if you help with my transfiguration homework.”
“Deal, I loved the fourth-year homework,” James said, clapping his hands together once.
After Albus kneeled on the floor next to his older brother and quickly read through the instructions, he explained everything as much as he could, since it was a topic, he was familiar with it wasn’t too difficult, even if it was for sixth years.
Once James actually started writing his essay, the fireplace lit up and his oldest cousin, Victoire entered the room, not even a minute after Teddy followed.
“Not late, are we?” Teddy greeted, wiping the soot from his turquoise hair and shoulders.
“Dunno, probably,” James answered as Ginny came through the door.
“Hey, Aunt Ginny!” Victoire said making their way other as they have already cleaned themselves up.
“Are you okay, Vic?” Ginny asked, smiling.
“Yeah, I’m okay, thanks.” Victoire answered.
Teddy followed his partner and pecked Ginny’s cheek in greeting, “Where’s Lil and Harry?”
“In the kitchen finishing up dinner.” Ginny said looking up at her godson.
Teddy nodded and made his way over to the kitchen.
Ginny looked over at where James was sitting, “You can stop doing homework now, James.”
“Okay! Fine by me!” James cheered, putting the lid back on his ink pot, “I’m going to go put these back upstairs.”
As he got up, Albus muttered under his breathe, “You’re welcome.”
Victoire came round the sofa and sat next to her cousin, after Ginny followed Teddy to the cooks of the house.
“Do you still want to talk later about this mysterious thing, which you won’t tell me and Teddy?” Vic asked, Albus completely forgot the text he sent them about wanting to talk.
“Yeah.” Albus nodded simply.
“Any chance you can tell me what it’s about now?” Vic said, tilting their head to the side, making their short, platinum-blonde hair flip over.
Albus shook his head, “I would rather tell you and Teddy together.”
“That’s fine.” Vic smiled light-heartedly, “Anyway, cool fit.”
Albus looked down at his oversized band t-shirt and cargos, “Thanks, love the docs,” Albus said gesturing to Vic’s shoes with purple and blue laces.
Vic nodded back. Albus always have admired his older cousin as they are quite similar, even with the age gap, they have the same style in clothes; music and the same sort of hobbies; they were both the only Potter/ Weasleys sorted into Slytherin; and at family gatherings they found peace in each other’s silence when they got overwhelmed.
“Come on you two dinners’ ready.” Teddy said poking his head around the door from the dining room.
“Alright, were coming.” Vic replied, standing up, Albus done the same and they made their way to the door together.
“Hi, Vic, you alright?” Harry greeted Victoire.
“Hey, yeah, I’m fine, thanks.” Vic smiled, taking a seat next to Lily then poking her cheek with her index finger, signalling for Lily to give them a hug. Lily being Lily of course did.
Albus sat at his usual spot at the table, next to his dad, who sat at one end of the wooden table across from Ginny.
_______________
After dinner, Albus made his way upstairs to his bedroom, he went to the corner, where his desk sat, and opened his phone to a photo of him and Scorpius to resume painting. He put his headphones on and whispered the lyrics to his playlist.
Ten minutes later he heard a knock on his door, “Albus, can we come in, please?” His cousin’s voice echoed through his door.
Albus removed his headphones, “Yeah.”
The door creaked open, as Vic and Teddy entered, they both sat on his bed which was opposite him.
Teddy smiled, “You said you wanted to talk to us?”
“Yeah, um, so, I think I’m homosexual more specifically, gay.” Albus said straight up, he knew if he rambled on about something else, the truth would never be told.
Vic looked a bit started then their face relaxed, “Honestly Al, I’m not surprised.”
“Really?” Albus said, rubbing the back of his neck self-consciously.
“Yeah, you definitely had a thing for Jack Sparrow.” Teddy nodded.
They all laughed.
“Does your family know?” Vic asked, tilting their head to the side.
“Uh, no.” Albus winced.
“What about your friend, Scorpius?”
Albus felt his blush creep up his neck, “No.”
Teddy grinned in realization, “You like him don’t you.”
“Well, I don’t know, maybe. Yes. Yes, I do like him. But I don’t think his queer. I honestly think he like Rose. But who wouldn’t? She’s smart, pretty, funny, literally every guy’s taste. Part from mine of course-“
“Well, yes, your cousins.” Teddy interrupted.
Albus shot him a look then carried on, “I know I can’t really stop him from liking someone. But it just hurts so much seeing him like a girl as much as I like him. And can you imagine him coming to the burrow every Sunday with Rose and it makes me feel even worse because me and Rose don’t get along, I don’t want to get along with her.” Albus finished his ramble and realized he started pacing.
Albus went back to sit at his desk then lowered his face in his hands.
“Well, for one thing we don’t know if Scorpius is straight.” Victoire said as Albus lifted his face, “And feelings change.”
“Doubt it.” Albus mumbled.
“Well don’t doubt it,” Teddy said simply, “look, I know your not the most positive person in this world, but even if Scorpius doesn’t like you back, he is still your best mate. From the three times I have seen him and everything you have said I don’t think he will leave you, let alone for a girl.”
Albus smiled, “Yeah, I guess. It would be much better him being my best friend then nothing at all.”
“Exactly, you’re already sounding more positive.” Teddy grinned, “But you might need to sort out this jealousy.”
Albus groaned.
“Teddy! Don’t say that!” Victoire scolded.
Teddy shrugged, “Sorry, Al.” He looked up at Albus’ face, “I mean it. I’m sorry. But jealousy is not a kind friend.”
“I know.” Albus replied, rubbing his eyes, “Why don’t we all go downstairs and play Mario Cart?”
“Always.” Vic agreed.
“I’m going to win.” Teddy announced already marching over to the stairs.
“He isn’t going to win.” Albus whispered to his cousin.
“No, he isn’t. I think he forgets how good you are.” Victoire agreed.
They both fell into a fit of mumbled giggles as they made their way downstairs to join the rest of the Potters.
