Work Text:

“ will you marry me?”

A million thoughts raced edas head as she stood in the mirror.

Usally for special occasions she’d wear a suit but this time she chose a dress.

The white gown laced her body. It was a flat dress with a laced flower sleeve and top. Her oval gem sat right in the center, adding a little black to a white dress.

Her bare hair now held a flower crown of snapdragons with a long train veil attached to it.

Her wedding day.

A truly special moment for those around. A time of love and embracement. Eda couldn’t imagine a life with out her love or her kids. Her family.

Eda now stood in front of a lengthened mirror. She was scared but excited.

A nock caught her attention.

“Come in!” She replied, dusting off her dress.

“Oh I can’t believe my little witchlet is getting married!” Her mom embraced her daughter, “it’s about time too!”

“Thanks mom.” Eda smiled.

“Oh you look stunning darling!” Gwendolyn had tears in her eyes.

“Mom.. are you, crying?” Eda almost felt like laughing.

Gwendolyn cleared the tears away from her eyes, “No it’s just dust.”

Eda snorted, “Yeah okay mom.”

Another witch entered, “Well it’s about time you two got married!”

Eda smiled, “Hello to you too lily.”

“Wow, my baby sister getting married? That’s a shocker.” Lilith remarked.

“Oh cut your sister some slack, Atleast shes getting married.” Gwendolyn eyed Lilith.

“For the last time mom, I’m not interested in dating.” Lilith through her hands up.

“Yeah who would wanna marry a nerd like you.” Eda snorted.

“A lot of people actually, I’m just not interested.” Lilith crossed her arms.

“Yeah likely story.” Eda laughed as her daughter entered the room.

“Wow Eda!” Luz’s eyes lit up, “You look beautiful!”

Eda smiled, “Why thank you.”

“Its also a shocker seeing you in a dress. Usually you wear suits to these types of occasions.” Luz mentioned.

“Yeah I know but it’s my special day and I wanted to be extra.” Eda proudly put her hand on her chest.

“You got the special part right.” Lilith mumbled.

“Y’ know just for that I’m gonna have Luz dump flowers on you after the reception.” Eda crossed her arms.

Luz begged Eda to let her be the flower girl, even though she was a bit to old to do so. She wouldn’t stop annoying Eda until she finally said yes.

an evil grin appeared on her face before Gwendolyn scolded her, “Don’t you even think about it young lady.”

“Aw.” Luz’s face dropped, “why are all the old ladies such party poopers”

Eda and Lilith burst out laughing as Luz raced out the door with Gwendolyn yelling at her from behind.

Lilith followed them, “Good luck.”

Eda smiled, “thanks.”

She took a deep breath as another nock came to the door.

“Come in.” Eda was confused on who would wanna check on her until she turned around.

There he stood, wearing a fancy suit. Her father.

“You look wonderful pumpkin.” Dell smiled at her.

Eda had tears forming in her eyes, “Thanks dad.”

Dell walked over to her, “I can’t believe my baby girl is getting married.”

“I cant either.” Eda stared at the mirror.

Dell gulped, “well, your wedding is about to start, in every tradition, the father always walks down the bride.” He held out his hand.

Eda teared up, “but I ruined your life, how could you walk me down the isle knowing you i made you blind in one eye and partially paralyzed on your right side?”

“Because your my daughter and I love you.” Dell took his daughters hands into hers, “let the past stay in the past. It’s okay to move on. You never meant it and it won’t stop me from loving you.”

Eda cried, hugging her dad, “I love you dad!”

He kissed her forehead, “I love you too witchlet.”

Eda took a deep breath, “Time to get married.”

Dell squeeze her shoulder, “You got this pumpkin.”

“Thanks dad.”

Eda and Dell met Luz and the rest of the brides maid and grooms as the ceremony sat off.

Raine was at the alter, wearing a suit mix. A suit blazer with a ruffled belt skirt and pants underneath. Darius was their best man and was happy to coach them through the whole process.

He squeezed their shoulders as Eda made her way out, one arm leaked to her father the other holding a bouquet of flowers, smiling at Luz who was tossing flowers in peoples faces.

“There she is.” Darius whispered, “You’ve got this, I believe in you.”

During the reception after the first dance, Luz went against her grandmothers wish and picked up all the flowers, plopped them into a basket and dumped them onto Lilith.

Lilith slowly turned around to her neice, “I’m gonna give you five seconds to run.”

Luz quickly dropped the basket and dashed to edas side, sticking her tongue out while high-fiving her moms.

“You’re lucky your adorable!” Lilith yelled as she grabbed a glass of wine and walked away.

Raine giggled, “You really are a trouble maker, aren’t you.”

Luz smiled with her hands under her chin, “Guilty as charged, Nini.”

Raine looked confused, “What’s a ‘Nini’”?

“It’s a term used to call a non-binary parent.” She smiled.

Raine almost cried.

Eda wiped away Raines Tears, “No crying.”

Luz saw the tension, “I’m gonna go check on Lilith before she gets wine drunk.”

“Good idea.” Eda called.

“Don’t the newlyweds dance with their parents after the first dance?” Raine asked.

“Yeah, I bet that’s soon.” Eda called out.

Just like that the Band called the newlywed couple to the dance floor with their parent. Raine took their Mom, Odessa, who carried them, to the dance floor while Eda took her Father.

“Wow, it feels so weird being married.” Eda remarked, “How do you do it?”

“Do what dear?“ Dell asked.

“Stay married for a long time.”

“Well, when you love someone it kinda just happens.”

Eda smiled, “Like the way you love mom?”

Dell chuckled, “very.”

“How do you and mom stay happy?”

“We love eachother. Sure we’ve fought a couple times but it never stopped us from loving eachother, I don’t think that’s gonna stop you from loving Raine either.”

Eda smiled at the thought of her partner.

“You love them a lot, don’t you?” Dell asked.

Eda smiled, “Very. And I’ll never stop.”

“Good. Keep them, I know for a fact they’ll treat you right, pumpkin.”
