Morganite

Summary:

“The moon seen on the lake is the moon reflected from the sky.
The person seen in one’s eye is the person embedded in one’s mind.”

This work is self-indulgent, so beware because it would be cliché and even cringe.

It is also not beta-ed, anyway we die like Hena in solo rank.

Work Text:

The gifts sent to Lu-han were much more than he could fathom, so he had to call Sung-hyun in for a little help. Well maybe not that “little” though, as his hyung was a tad bit even more excited than himself. From rearranging the present to translating letters and messages in fan-books, the older male was always there, eager to do every task Lu-han had to give him.

“It’s not like we’re recording this for the Youtube content, hyung. Why are you so excited?”

Lu-han groaned as Sung-hyun carried yet another pile of presents into their shared room. “I’m not telling you~” - The former jungler - now a coach for Brion, winked playfully at Lu-han, dropping the pile beside the former top laner.

Lu-han glared at Sung-hyun, warning him, “You better not pull any prank on me”, then went back to unwrapping the presents.

The mountain of boxes gradually descended, transforming into another mountain of stuffed toys, flower bunches and clothes, surrounding and looming over Lu-han’s already small figure, until there were only a few small boxes left.

One of them had managed to catch Lu-han’s attention. A box in pink, with light blue ribbons, looking so out of place compared to its green, black and white counterparts. There was also a letter in English attached with it, the handwriting looked strange and familiar at the same time. Lu-han handed the letter over to his hyung while he fiddled with the box. Inside it was a small gem in such a delicate shade of pink, carefully placed in soft cotton.

“You done admiring it?” - Sung-hyun pouted, seemingly jealous that a stone suddenly got all of the attention from Lu-han.

Lu-han put the box aside, sighed at the sudden childish behavior, ready to listen to whatever his hyung had to tell him. Sung-hyun unfolded the letter, cleared his throat and started translating its content.

“Dear Lu-han.”

“It has been five years since I’ve known you.”

The five years milestone reminded Lu-han of someone he had been in love with for this exact period. That person was tall, kind and gentle. Their fair complexion that sometimes would look like it’s glowing under the light. And their great sense of humor, always there to cheer him up through bad days. “Lots of the fans seem to know me from my Brion time, no?”

“Possibly. But hey, this letter is serious, so just listen to me and leave the questions for later, eh?”

The top laner could notice the uneasiness in Sung-hyun’s voice. “Hyung, why are you so nervous?”

The young coach just brushed the question off and continued reading. “It was neither too short nor too long, but during that time, I’ve got the precious chance to understand you more as a person, both as the pro-gamer Morgan and as the ordinary boy Park Lu-han.”

“And I realized, your existence alone brought a light into my life that used to only know of darkness and regret. A light not to bright, but so endearing and lovely.
This Morganite, which I intentionally chose because it has a name really similar to yours, represents my feelings for you.”

Sung-hyun gulped dryly, crumpled the piece of paper, throwing it away in Lu-han’s surprise. He snatched the box, pulling the stone out, revealing a ring hidden underneath the layer of cotton.

He held it carefully between his thumb and index finger, facing the pink Morganite towards Lu-han, and kneeled down on one knee.

“For the last five years, I have always wanted to protect you from the hardships of life, and to embrace you in my love. But could I be more selfish, to have you by my side for the rest of my life?”

Lu-han choked, his eyes stingy.

“Park Lu-han ah, will you marry me?”

As soon as the last word escaped from Sung-hyun’s lips, Lu-han answered, like a reflex, like his whole body and mind was waiting for this exact moment.

“Yes.”

What Lu-han didn’t notice, was that tears were running down on his face.

Sung-hyun took his lover’s hand into his own, his thumb gently caressed the slender fingers, before slipping in the engagement ring. He hugged the crying boy tightly, patting the small back that was trembling relentlessly.

It could have been a very touching moment, if not for the other Brion members who barged in. A teddy bear hit Sung-hyun's head, and Hwan-jung's voice came from behind. “That was for making Lu-han hyung cried.”

Lu-han gradually stopped crying, and smiled at his old teammates’ enthusiasm. Meanwhile, Sung-hyun was trying his best to shield both himself and his fiancé from a rain of petals and confetti. Amidst the chaos, he shyly confessed to Lu-han. “I haven’t decided on anything for our wedding yet. Will you join me afterward?”

Lu-han flicked his soon-to-be-husband’s forehead, pulled him in for a kiss. “It’s too soon to think about that.” - He said when their lips parted.

The passionate kiss from the pair caught the whole gaming house in disbelief. “Get a room please?” - Someone gasped.

Notes:

The summary was actually lines from a Chinese poem I read a long time ago. It was so beautiful I’m sure I wasn’t able to fully deliver its meaning.
