Chapter Text
He had just pulled up Rose Tico’s Instagram on his phone when it rang shrilly. Startled, Hux jumped, throwing the phone on his bed as he finally regained his un-horny senses.
The fucking ringtone meant his best friend was calling.
“Hello,” he drawled.
“Tage I need your help, like badly! Please say you’ll do it,” Rey’s panicked voice came through the device, and his eyebrows shot upwards.
“Good morning, I am fine too, thanks for asking,” he sassed as Rey grumbled. “How can I help you?”
“Okay, uh, you gotta promise you’ll do it without freaking out, or laughing at me,” she seemed close enough to be begging, and Hux smirked.
“I’ll promise you as soon as you tell me it's not about some best friend taking virginity or fake dating or you want a baby thing,” he snickered and could picture the frown on her face.
“What the fuck, Tage, stop reading fanfics you kinky motherfucker!”
“I don’t!” he pinked. Trust Rey to always know how to turn the tables on him.
“Now, what is so important that you had to interrupt my early morning self-love session?”
“Ew, I didn’t need to know that!”
“Don’t yuck other people’s yum,” he retorted, and she sighed as if she was utterly done.
“I need a job. I am taking a year off, at least I think it's gonna be a year…But yeah, I need a job please!”
“Wait…that’s what you needed to discuss at seven AM?” he asked, incredulous.
“Well, I knew you’d be up!” Rey went defensive.
Hux sighed. “I sometimes hate the fact that I promised to do anything for you, and I hate it even more that you still remember that shit.”
“Yay! I love you, too!” she sounded too damn sunny for his sexually frustrated mood and it was too damn early to even imagine her brighter than the sun smile that she gave when he let her get her way.
“Okay, bye. Lemme wank off to my coworker’s pictures now.” He injected every bit of cheerfulness he could muster, and Rey made gagging sounds before disconnecting the call.
“I fucking hate fifteen-year-old me,” He grumbled to himself before a bright idea entered his head, and he smiled.
“Shit, I am genius!” he cried out, and Millicent crawled out from under his bed to give him the meanest stink eye she could muster.
“Oh shut up, stupid cat. Daddy is going to do Auntie Rey a big fat favour and she better be grateful!” the cat yowled at him before licking itself.
“Oooh, I should tell Phasma to arrange a regular order of popcorn too, right?” Millicent stared at him with that dumb expression that reminded him of ‘nothing behind those eyes’ cat memes before he picked up his phone again.
“Amilyn, Hi! Is Ben still looking for an assistant?” Hux asked and rolled his eyes when the HR manager started questioning his motivations.
“I swear I am not seeking revenge on Ben, okay, maybe I am, just a little. But can you please arrange for an interview with my best friend? Yeah, pretend you’re hiring her as a receptionist but make sure Ben hears that. Oooh and can you try to do it at a time when you’re sure his day was shit, and he’s being extra assholish? Thanks!”
And as the call ended, Armitage Hux smiled, wider than he ever had.
