Work Text:
( save me )
I see you across the room, eyes glued to my face. I wish I could say something, anything, but I left my voice on the other side of the door, so I will not cry.
But it is you, who has tears in their eyes now. Am I the only one who sees it? Am I the only one knowing how you look while holding them back? Doesn’t your father see? Doesn’t he care? If only I could move, I would offer you comfort. But I am a soulless figure carved in stone, only no one prays on their knees to me.
You are trying to smile. And you are failing. I know you’re not happy for us. Neither am I. Ask me again, whether I want to fly with you. I will agree. I want to fly as far as we can from here.
You are his heir. You can still do something. Anything. You are the only hope I have ever had.
But you are leaving. Your head high, your back tense, your fists clenched. Not looking back.
And I’m staying here.
( you never did )
